Yes it is like city in the city independent from London but that is where everything started thanks to the Romans

    check video, interesting info

Here's an interesting fact, the City of London isn't part of the UK, it's independent like certain other principalities around the world. Bless

It's not here or her site, so I'd say it's probably a dead project

I always wondered if those helmets are uncomfortable. They look more uncomfortable than the typical kevlar helmet I used to wear. I read the fellows with the bear skin helmets wear really to make them look taller to intimidate opposing soldiers in the days of close quarter combat and that style has stuck ceremonially so I guess the bobby helmets had the some ideal in mind except they are still practical because they do make police look a big bigger don't they?

I read somewhere that supposedly the "bell" shape of the "Bobby" helmets helped deflect head blows somewhat better, at least compared to the other headgear readily available when the police helmets were first invented.

Seems like a task for the "MythBusters", putting that claim to the task.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

I made a similar uniform not too long ago, never even knew MEC4D was working on one at any point. Thanks to this thread I can see that mine is clearly garbage compared to hers, But that makes sense, she's a pro and  I'm strictly a low rent maker of quick-n-dirty stuff for personal consumption. I would never sell it, quality just isn't up to current standards. If this ever came up for sale, I'd buy. Good for Jack the Ripper type renders.  Here's a render I did with my own inferior version, so you can see how good the one MEC4D was by contrast. Mine only looks okay in the dark!  I'll keep my fingers crossed that she revives this project so I can do daylight renders!

Yeah, she was ping ponging back and forth between the different stores like crazy for several years and I think a lot of projects never made the transition.

I know it's a bit necro, but since I just noticed that the wrong name was used here, it's Mec4d, not Mech4d.  Not that it matters, as the store is gone, and while there are still items up for sale here and on hivewire, the last thing she released was those HDRI sets back in 2017.

Yep, it has been a long time since we have heard anything from her. I hope she is OK and staying safe.

    ...+1.

She insinuated she was likely to move on from 3D and she even talked about her recent wedding just before she stopped creating new products as a PA.

  • Maybe I'll send her flowers and an emotional appeal letter to ascertain if this project is still in her hard drive somewhere just waiting for someone to adopt it......(jk)

    Here's an amusing the fact:
While Americans sometimes still refer to London Police officers as 'bobbies', the 'youth' in London refer to them as 'the FED's' :P

In my day they were either 'the fuzz' or, slightly later, 'the hate'.

The police station was 'the nick' (it's where they take you when you're 'nicked', i.e. arrested), or sometimes 'the cop shop'. Black and white police cars were 'panda cars'.

And who can forget the immortal phrase "It's a fair cop, guvnor, you've got me bang to rights," which loosely translates to "Not only am I confessing to the crime, but I have also just given up my right to remain silent." A phrase which must have caused many a "duty brief" (public defender assigned to a police station) to tear his or her hair out.

Hey, it's nothing to do with me ;)

"I think you'll find, Lestrade, that you have arrested the wrong man." The great detective paused, and for a moment it seemed as if he might almost smile. "The man you seek goes by the sobriquet of 'Jack the Ripper'. The person you have there is Jack the Renderer. Also known as Jack the Modeler, and Jack the DAZzer. While such an array of aliases might legitimately lead one to suspect that he must be guilty of SOME crime, I can state with confidence that he is certainly innocent of these murders. I suggest you release him."

I'm not sure Jack would notice any great difference if he was sent off to prison.
