No, as mentioned, go to your Product Library and manually download the files. As long as 4.8 isn't in the Product Library yet, you can still save your 4.7 version :)

DO NOT INSTALL 4.8 UNTIL YOU SAVE A COPY OF YOUR 4.7 !!!!
In your Product Library, the 4.7 will eventually disappear because there is a new studio version released. Always save the previous version files before you install the latest, in case you want to go back and use the old version. I always download all the things shown underneath the Studio on the page, as I don't know what changes from version to version (I believe the GoZ must match the version with the version.)
You are so right! I always save a copy of the earlier DS version - just in case.

    Too late for me. :shut:

Has the 4.8 version already been released?
My latest news was that you still can download 4.7, as 4.8 hasn't been sent to the servers yet....
First, I uninstalled 4.8.0.55 beta but I don't have a saved copy of that version, so I'll have to wait until proper release.

Ah... but if they haven't changed the versions on the server, chances are that you can still re-download the Beta?

The Public Beta may still be available for download though DIM, if you deleted the zip after installing (by default DIM keeps the zips).

In the meantime, for those worried about having to purchase shaders, documentation etc.... There are at least 6 threads dealing with the beta version of DS (with Iray). Those will have 90% of your questions answered. Many surfaces convert well. The threads also have a huge amount of info on tweaking the surfaces that do not convert to your satisfaction.

While I know that is a lot of reading, if you want to use Iray it is well worth your time. If you don't want to read....then you are passing up a huge amount of help the people who jumped in on the beta are providing. (As well as DAZ employees)

There is also documentation. Yep, real documentation. :)

    Iray Uber Shader:

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/interface/panes/surfaces/shaders/iray_uber_shader/start

    Render Settings:

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/interface/panes/render_settings/engine/nvidia_iray/start

Pay particular attention to the Tone Mapping section. :)

Same.I can't download manually. I don't like extra unnecessary software running in the background like DIM.

Files are syncing to the server. Should be available for download within an hour. Note that files downloaded before fully synced are likely to be corrupt. If that happens please re-download.

    Thank you.

(Makes mental note to download in about 4 hours... just to be safe)

On the subject of the manual downloads, why does that page nag and nag and nag at me to register and/or log in — I'm already logged in, every other page in the entire store sees me as logged in, why not this one? And why is the manual download link a tiny little bit of text while the DIM and D|S downloads have big bright buttons?

And the servers have just updated! Going to be a bit busy for the next little while downloading and installing. :cheese:

Edit: Aren't there supposed to be Iray goodies in a separate download? No sign of it here.

DIM does not run in the background. Oh my bad, Sorry. I thought it ran in background. I try to keep my computer running with minimum processes.

The manual download of DS 4.8 Final still does not work for me. Can anyone tell when the download will work. Why it does not work?
    Thanks!

What happens when you try? I'm downloading it right now and it's going ok as far as I can tell. And yes, it is a beast, and that's even without the Iray content. I won't install till I have everything I need.

    CHEERS!

Yeah was very slow guessing the servers are getting hammered but I did get it finally and using it now.. :)

Render I just completed that I posted in another thread took 3 minutes to render but it is a fairly simple scene.. Main thing was testing out the HDR settings.. :)

Will Dim uninstall the beta version of 4.8 automatically or should we tell Dim to uninstall it.

Install Manager will not uninstall the Beta version of the software unless you tell it to.

I just checked my Product Library and mine has changed to 4.8 as well. Boooooooooo.... I want a backup copy of 4.7!!!!

Actually, the serial showing is still for 4.6. Is it going to work when I do the fresh install of 4.8 (I didn't do the Beta)?

So if you didn't install the public beta, does that mean that you should hold off installing 4.8 until the new content is ready?

Downloaded the Default Light and Shaders Package. I would have thought, there is an update to it.

The Iray Shaders and Lights are still from the Beta Download Page? Or will there be an update to the Default Light and Shaders?

Edit: Oh, I see. My question is already discussed.

Download completed! Maybe I should wait for the updates before installing DS 4.8.

Any DS 4.x Pro serial number works - the very old versions of DS 4, before Pro was free, won't accept the newer serials (SDZFPRO) but that has been the only change.
