I've attached snapshot of my Inbox.  As you can see, I only have an Inbox.  I have no New Message button or even a gear ion in the right corner to select.  What should I be seeing?

Wrong inbox, thats the one on your store account.

Click the gear icon, not the blue man, and go to that inbox instead. There should be a rather large button ont the top marked  "New Message" click it :)

That's for messages from Daz 3D -- for Private Messages you want to click the gear icon at the upper right of a forum page and choose Inbox

Ok Got it.  Perhaps that Geat Box could also be included on the Messages area when clicking on the drop down box for for the member's profile.

    Thanks

I see something different than you, so unfortunately I'm not sure what's happening.  Perhaps somebody else knows, or if not you might want to try submitting it to support.  If you have any javascript blockers running you could try temporarily disabling those to see if perhaps that could be affecting things I suppose.  Or maybe there's more than one kind of inbox and we're looking at two different things somehow.

Unless it was just coincidence, it seems that if you try to upload an image with '&' in the name, it jams up.  I didn't give it more than a few mintues so I don't know if it eventually times out with an error message or not, but I copied the file and changed "&" to "and" and reattached, which immediately attached even though the first two attempts with the same post were still listed as "uploading".

I've been experimenting with if it makes a difference whether you click on an image when you browse, or if it does the autofill for you, and it's a wash. It still takes several times to upload an image- and seems the nighttime/wee hours of the morning is worse. I was suprised by that, I thought prime time of day would be. (And it still happens there too, but not as much.)  I wish they'd get the uploading images fixed!

What's The Current Situation With The "Keep Me Logged In" And Login-Looping Problems?

I've raised a new support request (Request #204662) for the still unresolved "Keep me logged in" problems on the DAZ forums, and I want to be clear of exactly what seems to be going wrong. I'm attempting to split things into discrete symptoms and possible causes and/or underlying problems

    1) Does the login looping only occur if you login from multiple devices? No. Regarding mjc1016's first Oct 6th comment on the previous page asserting that the login looping only occurs if you view the forums from more than one device, RogerBee's reply and sriesch's reply have clearly stated that that is not correct (and I usually use a single device*). The problem occurs even if you only log in from a single device. (which devices, and what OS? See point 3)

1a) Regarding the login looping, but specific to using multiple devices, mjc1016's 6th Oct response to RAMWolff's 6th Oct comment is interesting - "...most of those other sites DO log you out when you switch...they just do it faster and without a notice". This may explain the difference between login and sign-in at DAZ if something like this is happening:

When you log in on machine A with the "keep me logged in" option a cookie is set up on machine A (and the server?) saying user X is logged in and signed in on A. When you then log in as X on machine B the server knows that X is already logged in and signed in on B, so it keeps X logged in on A but signs X off from A, and then logs and signs X in on B with the "keep me logged in" option. When the user goes back to A the server simply signs him off on B (but keeps him logged in on B) and signs him back on on A. Etc.

    Very simple to test that for anybody who uses both a smartphone and a PC for any of the forums (I don't, so I can't). Do any of the forums RAMWolff mentions allow you to be signed in from both devices simultaneously? Does the DAZ forum? {Edit2(12Nov): Tested it yesterday evening - the DAZ forum does allow you to be simultaneously logged and editing forum posts on two different systems. That seems contrary to mjc1016's comment}

    2) The blue-stylized-head-and-shoulders-with-a-little-tick-in-circle "logged in" icon displaying when you're actually logged out problem reported by McGyver on 26th Oct still occurs - I saw it yesterday. {Edit(26th Nov): Deleting the DAZ 'customergroup' cookie and doing a page refresh is the only thing I've found that fixes this.}

    3) Is there any browser/OS-specific element to any of the problems ? mjc1016, RogerBee, RAMWolff, McGyver ? Me (Win7/FF), sriesch (Win7/FF).

    4) {added in edit1} If you go to a DAZ forum to make and post and find that you're logged out, the process of logging in ends upputting you on your "My Account"page. Not the forum page from which you logged in, which is the page you wanted to be on.

    5) {added in edit2 26Nov} Getting stuck in the 'signing you out'. Details of what I saw in FF42/Win7 in this post.

    Cheers,

    Pete

*I use Windows 7/latest Firefox. I also use RDNA, Renderosity, ShareCG, DeviantArt, and Hivewire with the "keep me logged in" option on a single device but from multiple locations (mainly home and office), and very occasionally from a second device, and I haven't noticed any login/out related problems with any of them.

    {Edit1(10Nov): yesterday I cleared all my logons. This morning I logged into two sites including DAZ with the "Keep me logged in" option, using my laptop at the office.I didn't log out. I am now sitting at home with the same laptop and I when I came to the DAZ forums I was no longer logged in (the grey head-and-shoulders icon and a prompt to enter username and password were displayed). So my last "Keep me logged in" at DAZ lasted less than 12 hours. No problem with the other site.}

Running Windows 7 and Firefox here.  I don't think it's related to Firefox, although I can't point to an example I'm pretty sure I recall others mentioning they had issues in different browsers.

  • I'm now simultaneously logged into the DAZ forums from two different laptops, which seems to disprove mjc1016's comment that systems automatically log you out from the first computer when you log in on a second computer. This second computer is Win7/IE.

(and when I do a ctrl-F5 on this page on the other computer I see what I've just typed in the "Leave a Comment" box on the second computer)

SIMPLE QUESTION: How long is the "Keep me logged in" option supposed to keep you logged in for?

(I think I just had my longest duration, around six days, without getting automatically kicked off...)

Not sure of the answer to that, but mine keeps me logged in for about a week, so six days could be right.

I've been informed by support that "keep me logged in" should keep you logged in until the relevant cookie is deleted. So unless you delete the cookie you should stay logged on forever. Which is clearly not happening.

(Edit: in addition the suggested workaround to log on via the main page http://www.daz3d.com/ instead doesn't help (specifically - didn't make any difference to me using Win 7 / FF42.0). I tried it and still got kicked out two days later)

My Account page has changed and is MUCH easier to navigate for me. Gone are the big tiles. Thanks.

...interesting, been reading through the forums for a while today and when this thread opened I got the "Signing In" popup.

..yes that is a big improvement. No more "Win 8/10 look"

Now if we could only get a dark theme for the forums...

I thought we'd long ago agreed by (nearly) unanimous acclamation to call it the "Tonka Toy" interface...?

Anyway, glad it's gone. This new look is a lot better, more compact and easier to take in at a glance.

I did suspect something might be up, though, last night when I went from login to the Account page, and the stylesheet was a real dog's breakfast of a mess.

    Seconded!

Aaaand... the login timeout just hit a ridiculous new low. Ten minutes ago, I switched to the forums for the first time tonight and got the "signing you in now" flash. I just realised I got it again after clicking on the "quote" button to enter this reply.

  • Here's one I started to get today.

Unable to load recent personalized data. Cart contents, product ownership and account information may be incorrect.

I'm finding that I have to refresh up 5 times to move from one place to the next very annoying.

  • IceCrMnIceCrMn Posts: 2,147

I'm still gettting stuck in the login loop.

here's the round trip I have to make to get logged in.

    1) login to forum

    2)login/logout loop starts

    3) after loop dies, login again. if successful I get redirected to my account page at the store instead of staying on the forum.

    4) click link to return to forum. at this point I will either get logged in automatically or I get sent back to step 1 to start over.

The sign out loop is much worse than ever for me. It goes for minutes without ever stopping. I had to try to get the sign in drop down to appear with my saved info long enough to click on the login button. I eventually was able get the loop to stop that way.

Same for me this morning, and it only happened yesterday.   It used to take nearly a week before it started, now it looks like it is going to be every day.

Also getting the login loop, very annoying.

Previously it would do it a few times, now it goes on forever.

Is this being addressed please ?

  • On 10th Nov I raised a support request (#204662) for various login/logout problems, and I believe the web team are currently working on these.

Since it's possible that some of these problems may be more common (or only happening) with certain Browser/OS combinations it might be useful to specify your browser/OS when posting a login/logout related problem.

For the first time I've experience the signout lockup that many people have been talking about.

I opened my email in Firefox 42.0 and saw several threads I'm subscribed to have new posts.

I opened the first three emails and clicked the link in each to open each thread in a different tab - so all three threads were attempting to load at the same time.

I realized something was wrong when Firefox appeared to get frozen for several seconds, and I couldn't switch tabs, and I knew I was looking at the DAZ forums... ;o)

Eventually it did switch to one of the DAZ forum tabs but I saw the "signing you out".

I closed down all except one tab - it took some time to do that.

This is what I see in that tab (see attached screenshot). The time was 14.18

The Firefox tab URL is www.daz3d.com/forums/entry/signout , the title keeps switching between "DAZ Forums" and "Connecting..." roughly every 6 seconds, and the little blue spinning ring on the tab title keeps freezing.

It's now 14:28 and the behaviour is still exactly the same.

So I closed Firefox using the red X top right - it took some time to do that.

I waited a short while and then reopened Firefox.

After checking that I could open a couple of sites with no problem I manually typed the www.daz3d.com/forums URL

It looked okay for a short while, but then went to www.daz3d.com/forums/entry/signout with exactly the same behaviour as already noted.

I opened a new blank tab and then closed the DAZ tab.

In Firefox > Options > Privacy I deleted all the DAZ cookies.

I manually typed the www.daz3d.com/forums again.

This time I got to the Forums homepage successfully. But of course I now have to log in.

(Note: I've also added the above  as a new comment on the login/logout problems customer support request 204662)

...something else I miss.  No page number links under thread titles on the contents pages or a "last post by" link.

Also no "Go To First Page/Last Page" buttons on the thread pages.

Is this what you want?  Yeah, these double arrows should do that...but they only go one page back or forward.  Talk about not following standards.  However, we do have the Page 1 link, and the last page is here now...but still...

Actually, now that I look at it...page one and the last page are always in the pager (that's what that is called, a pager).  Click on 52 and you'll still see 1 and 58, with the elipses between 1 and 52 and between 55 and 58.

Loop dee loop sign out is up and going strong again on my end.  QUITE ANNOYING DAZ!  And for Christ sake, fix the damned sign in "issue" where once your signed in your taken to your account rather than taking you back to the page you were on.  I mean REALLY.  It's very off putting to say the least.  Less clicks please!

    Thanks!
