I've got these error which I wonder when they are planned to be fixed:
1. I keep getting logged out from the forum all the time, if I don't keep a browser window open against the forum constantly, and I often end up in that darn loop, which freezes my browser sometimes for minutes
2. I don't always get mails when someone posts in threads I'm following or have created. And when I do they never bring me to the correct adress but I am sent to my account all the time instead, so the mails are mostly useless for me.
Then I cannot figure out how to use advanced search within the forum. When I click on the cogwheel by the search absolutely nothing happens. And I've tried performing advanced search using quotation marks and regular wild cards like * + - < > | # and @ without having any luck.
What was the point in changing forum before it had been properly tested?
I have a bug report in about this (if I can convince Support I meant to file an actual bug report, not a feature request).
Has anyone else had a problem, when composing a reply in the text box, where it's tricky to remove quote levels reliably? All we get is the unlabelled vertical lines, so there's no way of seeing who all the quotes belong to. It's also a bit of a tossup which quote level gets removed — the other day I trimmed a quoted quote and the wrong person ended up attributed in my reply. And since none of the lines are labelled, forget about fixing a misquote.
well YouTube now works as well as Vimeo
Why thank you. I'd used search before and couldn't remember how or where I found it. This feature really needs to be incorporated into the "gear icon" or at the top in Forums.
...the one big downside of the search engine is almost useless as it has no filters to narrow the results down like we used to have, such as by post, thread title, author, forum, time frame, etc.
*smh* Running on W7/FF, always access this site from one computer and am still getting this signout/login fizbit, thread bookmarks not giving updates, still NO dark theme...
and they want to come across as a professional company? Sorry, but if you can't get your own site to work correctly, what does that convey to your subscribers? That you just can't be arsed to fix it after months of this highly annoying BS? Or did the part of the team that used to arrange these things move to HiveWire too?
How about start using shop/forum software that your team is actually capable to deal with?
Hilarious that the other sites can do just that, fix their own site and deal with their member requests... I am at a point of just cancelling my PC+ subscription and take my business elsewhere, because I have never seen a company fail this miserably for months on end.
Regards,
One very fed up customer.
...please get a spell check that can flag mispelled words of three letters or less. Getting tirted of having to go back in and edit typos for words like "the", "and", etc...
Better yet, allow FF spell check to work like other forums do so we don't have to stop and turn spell check on every time we write a post.
If you click the Source button the FF spell-check will work, though of course if you've used a lot of formatting there will be a lot of HTML tags with red underlines.
...as those also get tagged as mispelled words, sorting through everything a real pain.
...and you still have to toggle it on and off if you want to clearly see what words you are typing.
For the last couple of days or more, the forums have looked all wrong in my Opera for Android, as if CSS doesn't get processed. I could make a screencap if necessary.
I use the "source" view for trimming quotes.
<headdesk>
I never thought of that...
Edit: And it works very neatly, as long as I keep track of the quote levels. Thanks for the tip.
You're welcome =) Without the "source" view, I would've been at a complete loss here more often than not.
Here we go again with the full 1 minute "Wait a second while we sign you out" BS. What do the programmers hope to accomplish with these tweaks? They only serve to piss off the forumites like myself! ENOUGH. Fix this and find something better to do with your time and stop wasting ours. Thanks!
I had another round of not being able to log out...at all, until I deleted all cookies from here.
Not sure if I'm having a funny 5 minutes, but I can't seem to search for anything in the forum - no matter what I type into Store Search I only get products returned or the message saying nothing could be found. Was working fine a few weeks ago...
Opera for Android is back to behaving well (yay!), but while I was using the forums on Firefox for Android, I got reminded of the painful inability to use keyboard arrows to move the text cursor in the editor here =( Also cannot reliably start a new paragraph in WYSIWYG mode (cursor jumping back to the previous line on text input). This seems to be an Android Firefox-only thing, fortunately.
when your login expires, why in the world does the forum make your browser go through a logout page? that just wastes everyone's time. if your cookie or session is expired, the forums should just show their default "not logged in" state. it shouldn't have to make you sit through a "logging you out" page, that is annoying. especially when something goes haywire and the "logging you out" page gets stuck in a loop, so you have to go in and manually clear your cookies in order to be able to log back in!
Just logged out again for no reason. Again I'm not logging in any more at work so there should be no reason these cookies should expire. I mean who on the other side there thinks "it's enough, just have the cookies good for a couple of days..." sort of mind set. Why not set up the cookies to be good indefinitely? I don't mind signing in at the store level but the forums cookies should be made to be indefinite! Hivewire has their set up like that. Forums forever and store you log on each time you enter it for security reasons. Renderosity is logged on forever, same with RDNA. This here at DAZ is just a bit infuriating at times!
Uh, how do you search the forums? I need technical information for a DS question and can't figure out where to go to search forums now.
There are instructions on using a diect link, but it's probably best to use Google or the like with
site:www.daz3d.com/forums/
as one of the search terms for now.
The way the forums re-compress images on upload is something that may be worth looking into. Posted about it in another thread:

Google search of this forum is blocked. I get an error after the second or third search term ... something about excess traffic from my IP. I cannot find a reliable way to search.
Google changed Excessive to Unusual - is this what you are seeing? https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/86640?hl=en
Yes. So you are saying it is Google that is blocking me? If so, why does it not happen when I use the site:// search format on other web sites? By the way - their explanation doesn't apply to me. I am not using a VPN nor am I using automated search apps.
I don't know why it would happen to you, or only for this site. Justs aying that that was the only thing that seemed to come up on searching for the reproted error term. But yes, I do think it sounds like a Google issue of some kind.
Thanks - yes, I agree, it does appear to be a Google related thing and not a forum block. Frustrating because there is no obvious alternative way to search this forum.
The site:www.daz3d.com/forums/ limiter works on Bing too, I would expct it to work on most search engines.
Yes it did work in Bing. I had to set Bing as my default search engine so that I could use the address bar but it worked without throwing up any errors.
Thanks again.
You could also try the DuckDuckGo search. It seems to have indexed the forums well.
Forgive me if this has been covered, but how do you delete a post in the forums? I inadvertently posted twice while tryiny to edit. I now have 2 posts that need to be deleted . Thanks for any input
