You can also link at the end of the first message to your next message ...

You know that you can click on the date to the left of a message to get a direct link to that message?

Yes, I saw a post somewhere in another thread that Chohole posted explaining how to do that.  So, yeah, I can do that.  Thanks for reminding me as that would be a good idea!

I think I may have found the (a?) problem with the sign in thing.  I don't get it very often.  Usually only when I shut down Windows and then when I come back and have to log in to everything again.  But in the past few days I've noticed something...whenever I put something in my cart and checkout, then come see if there's anything new in the forum, it happens...I am sent to my profile.  When I click on the Forum link again, then the Signing you in message comes up.

I can't remember where I read it, but I THINK that's intentional to log you out after a purchase, as a security precaution of some kind.

That doesn't even make sense!  Reminds me of something about barn doors and horses.

It never happened before.  I've just noticed it in the past couple of weeks.

Remember that the store is a secure area  and Store adn Forum are actually run by 2 different softwares.  Store is Magento and Forum is Vanilla.

Regardless of the separation, this happens.  And as I said, it just started, for me, in the past couple weeks.  These two softwares have been in place for much longer than that.

Aye, I have noticed that as well.  My reply was more to Sean.

Actually, I think it could be that you just started noticing it happening.  Until the server problems a week or so ago, most of the time it happened fast enough for me to appear seamless, but on occasion it would be slow enough that it was noticeable.   But since that server/site trouble it is slow enough that it is happening all the time, now.

No, the only time it happened in the past was if I rebooted my computer...and sometimes after I put it into sleep mode for several hours, but mostly not that.

Basically what I'm saying is, it ALWAYS did it...all the time.   Just that sometimes it was fast enough to appear seamless.  Now it's not.

I've got an odd new "problem" which started a couple of days ago. When I click on the star thingy in the top right corner I used to be able to see how many messages I have in my inbox and how many notifications. For the last couple of days this has been zero, but when I go there ... there they all are still! (See attachments) Is this deliberate new behaviour or has something odd happened to my account specifically?

ETA; ah, it's just possible that I've done this to myself - I may have unintentionally clicked on "Mark inbox viewed". (I didn't even notice that existed till just now). So unless anyone else has experienced this I'll put it down to User Incompetence!

Yes, the number is the list of new, unread, entities so I think  having accidentally marked all as read is the explanation.

Thanks, Richard - I got a new notification since I posted and this showed up as "1" correctly, so it looks like I did indeed mark them as read.

Quick question.  How do I link a video to a thread so it is playable?  And, does it have to already be uploaded to YouTube in order to do this?  I have a video that I made, not uploaded anywhere yet, that I want to put in my thread, but I have no clue how to do that.

Upload to youtube, then click the sharing button and copy the higlighted link to post here.

Uh, Chohole?  How do I get the video linked with an image?  Like it is done here.

That's just showing off, Pam. We need the technique. By strange coincidence I need in right now.

Okay, I got the blue link.  I guess I thought I would see a preview before posting, but I guess not.  So, taking you and your wisdom on faith....  Guess what?  It works!  I now have two videos linked in my thread.  Thank you, Chohole!

I read back a few pages, and I guess I'm not the only one who is getting logged out constantly... From what I read, unless I missed something, it didn't seem to be resolved, so I thought I'd mention it... It was pretty good for couple of months, but not so much anymore. It started up again at the end of March and it's pretty frequent, in some cases every day or even twice a day...but totally random...not like I visit and I'm logged out, it happens while I'm doing something... The weird pause "we're signing you in" happens far more frequently. Last week or the week before, I kept getting signed out a minute or two after I'd visit a page, at least twice it happened while I was posting something. In addition to that, I forget if I got signed out or not, but just out of the blue I'd get taken to the "Become an affiliate" page... At first I thought it was me accidentally touching the screen, but at least once the tablet was on the table and I wasn't even holding it (busy stuffing food in my face)... Anyway... For whatever it's worth, I just thought I'd throw this out there for the IT people at DAZ... If DAZ has been buying their servers from "Lou Cyfer's Needful Parts Emporium"... Maybe the goatee and horns on Lou's cartoon version of himself in the ads should have been a tipoff, but he is the devil... Lou Cyfer... Lucifer... Anyway, this is probably the reason for these persistent bugs... And the boiling sulfur in the break room. There are lots of movies out there you can reference to work this all out, so I'm not making any suggestions, but good luck and try not to order stuff from there anymore.

I am still seeing the results I reported a little while back.  I keep the forum on one tab and my account on another tab.  When I shop and drop something in the cart (usually a freebie lately) and check out, then go to the forum tab afterwards...I get the "we're signing you in" message.  It has repeated.  Every time.  Normally, other than that, I am not signed out and in unless I reboot.  Even if I make my computer "sleep", when I return and wake it up again, I'm still signed in.

OK code monkeys, you guys must have changed the settings again as I'm being logged out daily again.  COME ON NOW, this is just stupid and wasting my time.  FIX FIX FIX FIX FIX

That behavior, as far as I can tell is EXACTLY correct and is working as designed.

That doesn't make any sense at all.  Why would they want to log you out after you make a purchase?  It seems like a punishment.  And it's only the forum that I'm logged out of, I'm still logged in on my account page.

For the past couple of days, I'm getting the email notifications from the forum REALLLY late.. like hours after the osting.

    Is anyone else seeing this?

I don't think I've ever had it happen to me immediately after checkout. It's just random; sometimes ten minutes after logging on, sometimes two or three times during an evening of browsing, sometimes not at all for a week or more. I probably wouldn't mind so much, but there's no pattern I can see, and there's never any indication that I've been logged out until I'm abruptly unable to view any Members Only posts.
