You'll probably have to post it on YouTube and link to it here.

Crazy idea... is the RDNA forum software better or worse? If it's better, could we use that instead to eliminate the problems like the constant logout, etc.? If worse, then nevermind of course. No idea if forum software is licenced per site, or owned, or tightly integrated with other things and not moveable, etc.
pre made forum software is very flexible as you can imagine, and all that flexibility can be very tricky too.
Yea, but I'm never logged out of RDNA even if I'm not there for a month!
Agreed: but getting "Keep me logged in" to work shouldn't be four-months-plus worth of tricky! ;o) (Support request #204662 raised Nov 7th 2015, several weeks after the problem was first reported on this thread)
Edit: Just had some more feedback - they're really having trouble reproducing the problem. As far as I can tell the small number of people who do see this problem see it fairly consistently (and have been doing so for 4+ months). So unless it's something that's only happening with specific accounts, then it's likely to be something that our particular setups have in common. I think browser's been ruled out as the sole culprit (iirc the problem's been seen with both Firefox and IE). How about browser addons, ad blockers and such? I'm contemplating running for a few days with all add-ons disabled.
In my case, the "signing out" sort of issues seem to be totally random. I'm using a number of machines and browsers, and sometimes everything works perfectly, but sometimes the forums refuse to acknowledge my existence (the shop works fine, though).
Well I hardly ever saw it until they tried to 'fix' it the other week, now I am seeing a couple of times a day on the same computer.
Since Tuesday I've been running Firefox with all addons disabled. This morning I found I'd been kicked off again. I think that more or less rules out my Firefox addons as the culprit.
Does anybody else use MalwareBytes AntiExploit ? That's the only other slightly out of the ordinary browser-related thingy I use (although I'm fairly sure that the getting-kicked-off problem was happening before I installed that)
AntiExploit is not required to cause the problem, I do not use it but still get logged out.
Thanks - good to have something else ruled out!
(Edit: although we could all be seeing similar symptoms but with completely different causes...)
Insecure Login On Forums*?
As part of the ongoing bug report 204662 regarding "keep me logged in" not doing so, I was asked to send in a Console log (in Firefox that's Ctl-Shift-K). Hopefully the logs I'm sending in are helping the web techies here at DAZ to get to the bottom of this irritating (for a few of us) problem of getting loogged off every day or two.
I noticed that there's one "Security" event logged regarding insecure login - it looks as if logging in via the little blue man icon top right of any page is logging in from an insecure (http://) page?
If this concerns you, then always use the secure login page - to get to the secure (https://) login page you simply click the blue 'Login' button from the top-right-little-blue-man-dropdown without entering any email/password
I raised this as a separate bug report 213940
*N.B. since the top-right-little-blue-man login appears on all pages including the store this isn't purely a forums problem (if it is indeed a problem)
Not understanding your post. So don't log in using the blue man logon icon or use it? If using it to get the HTTPS logon I should go to my account page or the store page to log on? Or?? Just logged in yesterday, logged out this AM. So frigging annoying!
The fact is, if you are on an unsecured connection and click on a secure page...it's not guaranteed to be that secure. This process leaves you wide open to a man-in-the-middle attack. It has been known for several years. The only secure site is one that is secure...period. (and even then there are still risks) It is something I've learned from personal experience with a couple of major store sites. In fact, I just recently (yesterday) received my new card because of a breach at an online store. It really annoys me, because it's not the first time...different site, though. I instituted SSL always-on at my site because of this. Mostly, the extra bandwidth associated with SSL is not such a big deal these days.
Dana
All login requests are sent via HTTPS (SSL/TLS), even if the page is a HTTP (unencrypted) page.
Any modern browser would not accept any man-in-the-middle attacks on a HTTPS submitted form, so there isn't anything to worry about. However, moving the entire site to HTTPS only is on the list of things to do, so if you see it switch over don't be too surprised.
I won't mind if that's going to fix this ridiculous bug Rawb!
I think it's all down to your Personal Paranoia Level
- if that's low then just ignore all this. But if it's high then always login from the secure https:// page, which I think you can get to from the top-right-blue-man-icon on any page by clicking the blue login button without entering name/password first.
Is there actually a problem? From DAZ_Rawb's response I'd infer that there isn't. But from DanaTa's response I'd perhaps infer the opposite.
(Edit: From DAZ_Rawb's answer, "Any modern browser..." - I'd wager that there are a few people who are still using older browsers...)
LOL... I have no paranoia about logging in here at all, what I have is annoyance about not staying logged in to the forums. I don't mind having to log into the store as I understand that needing to be absolutely secure but having what I perceive is a temp cookie for the forums is stupid. I can understand if I don't log on for a week or so but I'm here every day so this really needs to be fixed from where I'm sitting. The logon process takes me back to my account page rather than taking me back to the page I was on in the forums (which is another HUGE niggle I have with this set up... why the heck am I taken to my account when I want to be in the forums? It's wasting my time and I hate that above all else.
Modern as in the past decade behaves properly for this sort of thing. The site, as most sites that use modern Javascript and css3, among other things, won't even work on old browsers. So anyone on an old enough browser where they might be concerned couldn't even get the login to show up. It really isn't a concern, and almost all data breaches with other online stores are their servers or store software getting compromised due to known security holes that didn't get patched in time (or going for "weak spots" such as the physical credit card terminals in the case of Home Depot a couple years ago) or account credentials getting compromised on a different site and the same email / password being used elsewhere.
TLDR, this isn't insecure and poses no potential security issue nor is vulnerable to any man in the middle attack, additionally confirmed by our PCI security scans and audits.
I use the newest version of Chrome and the newest version of Firefox. Just last week I had a problem and was notified by my credit card bank. I now have another new card. It's getting tiresome. So, modern browser, still an issue. It is good to know that you have plans to go HTTPS-only! Thanks for the heads up! I won't be too surprised, but I will be very pleased!

How do you add a signature line or box to your posts here now? I can't figure it out with this new forum. It's not at all intuitive.
Click on the gear icon at top, in the blue band that has the title of the thread. A menu will drop down. Click on your username, this will go to your profile. Once in there, click on the gear icon that is to the far right of your username. Select Edit Profile. On the edit page there are options on the right. The option on the bottom is Signature Settings. That's where to do it.

Back to the old 'keep me logged in' problem (I believe in calling a problem a problem, not an 'issue'... ;o)
But the behaviour now seems to be consistent and repeatable, at least for me.
1) I turn on my laptop in the office in the morning. I go to the DAZ website (usually the forum, often from an email link). I find that I am not logged in even though the little head'n'shoulders icon top right is blue.
2) I click the blue head'n'shoulders icon top right, click the green login button (without entering username/password) get taken to the https:// login page, enter my username and password and tick 'keep me logged in', and get taken to my account page.
3) I go back to the forum page I wanted to look at and get the 'signing you in' stuff.
4) For the rest of the day I can close and reopen my browser as often as I want and I remain logged in. I can reboot my laptop as many times as I want and I remain logged in.
5) At the end of the day I put my laptop away and don't touch it.
6) The next day I'm back to step (1) again.
I have a question and can't find if it has already been asked and answered. If I start a new post and then forget to add an extra post for links. Is there a way to go back later and add a blank post for links at the top of my thread? I know I should have made a post immediately reserving it for this purpose, but I forgot and now I'm realizing that, yeah, I might actually have links that should be easily accessible at the top of the thread.
No (I'm 99.9% certain on that), but you can always edit the first post - that's what I always do.
What you can do is 1. ask the persons that responded to your first post whether they are ok with their messages removed so your second post to that thread would be the one after the opening post and 2. contact Chohole (or another moderator) and ask her to remove the messages with the information that it is ok by the other persons
I added a 2nd post to one thread a while back, but it was quite a convoluted process. I searched and found a post that I had made somewhere else with a time and date stamp that slotted in between the original post and the 2nd post, that I didn't mind losing. I then split that out and then merged it into the thread where I wanted to have the 2nd post spot. I could then edit that post to say what I wanted it to.
This is the thread where I did this, so you can see what I mean.

You will also understand why I did it.
Isidorn would probably be okay with that, but I wouldn't. He is a friend and I liked that he was the first to post to my thread and I'm not willing to just delete it as if it didn't happen, especially when I have other options.
Even though Jederail was before my time, it is hard to be in the DAZ community for very long and not know who Jaderail was, what the impact of his involvement with this community had, and feeling of loss when he was ino longer there. So, yes, I can understand why you did it and the reasons behind doing it. I learned a lot from his old posts and can understand the wisdom of keeping his threads active, especially that one. I actually used it to easily find all of the WIP threads when I was researching if I wanted to try doing the new user contest last year myself.
I will think about how I want to handle it. As 3dcheapskate said, I can possibly add to the original post when/if I have links to share or I can possibly turn the third post of the thread into a place for links since that post is mine and I can edit it. It is close enough to the top that I doubt it would look too strange.
Thanks for the help and advice.
You can also link at the end of the first message to your next message ...
You know that you can click on the date to the left of a message to get a direct link to that message?
