and Where is the free bonus or whatever for tuning in the presentation?!

I did not see anything there to show at least a code or anything else

Linked in the comments/chat - which you should ber able to read even if not subscribed.

    nup, is gone

It was there for the attendies to get it.

am the bridesmaid who wasted her oil, will party elsewhere

    fires up Stable Diffusion GUI

  • Is there any changes to the morph loading procedures? To avoid the naming and loading times that happen with G8?

I asked in the chat, but didn't get an answer.

Am I getting this right? $60 for Victoria 9 base figure and $160 for the Pro Bundle?

    My goodness, that's quite a markup over 8 and 7, isn't it?

Victoria 8.1 is regular $49.95.  Victoria 9 is regular 59.95. The two 8.1 bundles are $149.95 each, the 9 bundle is $159.95.  It's a $10 increase for higher res models.

  • @WendyLuvsCatz I sent you a PM.

I missed what he said about the polygon count/density for G9. I think it's more dense?

    Yes, about twice.

    YIKES!!!!

That is less than one level of SubD, so easy enough to manage if you are worried about system load.

I did notice Jay clicked SubD, then said he wouldn't actually set it to 3 for the demo, lol.

That would really require a DS change.

Really? I don't have it happening with G3 or G2, even when I have just as many morphs installed.

Wow.. a freebie that I can't use because it's a clothing for a G9 (I have to wait another mounth).
    Great idea !!

Jay said it will work on Gen 8 as well.

  • Is the link still up in chat? I had to bail early from the presentation and didn't see the link.

The comments made about that were here:

(Just in case you wanted to rewatch what was stated so far about the polycount etc though an exact number wasn't given but some other info was that may be useful) (Link takes you to that point in time on the video)

EDITED TO ADD: If the link doesnt take you to the time, its about 42 minutes in smiley

Thanks Richard but I dont raise my SubD very often and sometimes have up to 8 characters in a few of my scenes. I could see if I made portraits, it wouldn`t take much. But now that I can run Ultrascenery again..... LOL

I didn't hear anything about a, finally, proper packing of UVs. There's an insane amount of empty space in all textures, Which means Genesis uses a lot of VRAM to load tons of textures when the amount could be drastically reduced with a better packing of UVs in less textures.

When when when ... are they going to optimize properly.

Way better UV maps, I'm happy to say. Much better unified texel density, only the head is a bit different but very reasonable. This was a pet peeve of mine and I'm finally happy with it.

I was hoping that you`d include the regular old iray skin along with the PBR stuff.
I buy averything you make just to support you as my favorite PA, but I never used the newer characters because the PBR skins take long to load on my systems. GTX 1660TI and RTX 3060 12GB

Thanks so much, that is so generous you're buying stuff you don't use. I had no idea. I don't think it has anything to do with the PBR shader though? I would guess it's maybe my 8k normal maps. For each skin patch there is one 8k map so in total that means it's like 16x 4k maps (each 8k map is like 4x 4k maps right). It loads only once though, when you start Iray preview. If you then hit render form there (which I always do), the textures are already loaded. If that is still so much of a bother just downscale the maps to 4k. This will have an effect on the specularity though, as finer normal maps results in less specularity.

So with Daz following suit and going 8k, you better get used to it. If that is the reason like I think it is.

It doesn't work for me... I had to step away for 15 minutes and missed it.  sad

I didn't really see that much improvements from a user side. My favorite PAs like Mousso already create great realism and I have like a zillion morphs and expressions and ways to make them myself. But now that I see it won't work on my system, I'm sad because the PAs will stop making G8 stuff. I already have everything I'll ever need in my lifetime but I guess not buying new content will allow me to save up for a better graphics card. I was excited about the ability to create animals but it seems only PAs will be able to do that anyway. I guess I will have plenty of more time to work on art rather than shop for new stuff. I'm assuming all PAs will now make characters exclusively for G9. I hope not. I actually do this for a living and can't afford a new system so I doubt most hobbyists can. Although they probably have "real" jobs and make more money than me as an artist lol.

On the plus side, I love the detail in the face with the 8K maps.  Looks stunning!  Great work!  yes

  • I love some of the changes made, now waiting for mid-October :-)

I skimmed through when I saw it was a new Victoria. Was there anything revealed about the next version of Daz Studio?

I'm overall not displeased with the new version. Sure, I'll have to start buying clothes again, but I'm hoping that clothing can at least get looking as nice as the figure does (there is currently a disparity between the realism of the figure and hair and clothing). Because prices have gone up, I'll just have to be that much more discerning over what I buy ;)

I do like that the figure is back to one mesh again. Not sure how hard that's going to make it for content creators, but I'm sure some are rejoicing (Rawart, I'm looking at you...lol). I don't necessarily have a need for 8k textures, but I'll just break out Scene Optimizer and scale them down. The new expressions do look much better. And the new makeup editor in a future version of DS sounds intriguing. Hopefully I can finally get makeup that doesn't look like it was laid on with a trowel. LOL.

Even tho I bit and went for the preorder of the pro bundle, what I'm REALLY waiting for is Michael 9 (and all his male kin) ;)

Edit: I did forget to mention that the mesh looks fantastic. Very optimized.

Why wouldn't it work on your system though?

You probably do have more, or at least more interconnections (which are what causes the lag, not just the bare number).

All I am hoping for is that these issues are thought about now...  When standards on the naming conventions can be established.

So that two years from now we aren't dealing with a situation that is 4x worse than the G8 situation.

4x times because it's Male AND Female morphs on a mesh that's twice as dense.

Having fun messing around with shaders with the free outfit...have to fill in the time until the release somehow...

The main difference I'm noting is the rigging has the spine instead of chest and IIRC more spines.

More info will be released in dribs and drabs. The price will eventually go down after the initial excitement dissapates...it's a question of if we need the sparkly this instant and are willing to pay for a bundle when we don't know what it contains...

  • Is Victoria 9 Rebecca Mader (actress from LOST, Once Upon a Time, etc.)?

  • I am assuming there will still be a free base figure

believe or not I still don't own G8.1 Victoria or Michael and no wish to

I would say there will still prolly be some g8/g8.1 stuff for a little while. I myself have three on the way (two in the not so far future) and the fourth im prolly gonna conv to g9. I havent decided if ill have both supported for that one yet.

As far as ppl worrying it wont work on their machines. Ive got a 1080 (not even a ti) and its not laggy at all. Im quite used to handling goads of poly, far higher than g9's base. So id say unless ur machine is extremely old, and u have probs with hair models now that are hp... u should be fine
