But those things aside, given the discussion about the outfit geometry, it does seem like Daz is out of touch with its market in terms of average hardware capability. ;)
Hopefully it's not a sub outfit, and this Michael doesn't have a sub's face.
The Diva Desire outfit is stupidly resource intensive. There's no reason for that poly count on the boots. Unless some artist insists on a close-up of a buckle, a tenth of that polycount would be more detail than anyone could see in a render including a character.
Good, now maybe I can finally make a good render of a Frank N Furter character.
One thing I have notriced is that the nipple norphs seem to be getting worse with each new generation. G9's are atrocious.
I passed on the pre order and the bundle and opted for just getting V9, the character essentials, and the V9 makeup. Waitiing impaitently for the morph pack and some more hair options (maybe a 50's pinup style hair pretty please). My Sheridan hair is getting very long in the tooth.
Another thing is the character essential anitomical elements did not come with any G9 materials and no A/E materials come with the G9 base meterials. Seems like if they would sell the geografts separatrely, they would include materials to use them.
I agree, and I probably won't get it, as I've had issues with render times using stuff from Aeon Soul because of the poly count of their products.
Well, apparently Daz is thinking of some way to address some issues with the Diva's Desire Outfit, so maybe there will be an update. My attempt to get a partial refund, however, was unsuccessful. I mostly like the rest of the bundle well enough to keep it, especially since there aren't a lot of other pose or expression options available right now.
What is the world coming to
I've to say I'm a bit surprised about this but then realized I'm probably the weird one here. I mean I do a lot of fantasy renders in sword & sorcery style, so monsters it is. I've actually very little need for the cute fairy and storybook animals and thought they would be rather niche interest for folks. I was like, eh, a storybook frog/mole-rat/turtle? Is that even going to recoup the time spent on it? Apparently it does?
Now Korvath, Lich Dragon and the Overkill is where it is and I am still hoping for "brutes, bruisers and tough guys" update for G9 since it had some pretty awesome morphs - stock characters looked interesting, too. I'd have guessed that those would have sold pretty well since they are actually very different from most of the morphs in store (more comic-book style)... but maybe they didn't, seeing that there's no updated versions? I guess the same for extraodinary men, too?
Anyhow. I was sort of interested in the diva outfit, but judging from what has been said here, it's waaaay too resource intensive for me. Thanks for everyone who brought this up.
Yeah, there are a couple of PAs who throw polygons at models instead of optimizing things so their stuff is borderline unusable. And since it's clothing in this case, taking the time to fix their stuff means remaking all the morphs as well. There's a PA who does props with bazillions of polygons so at some point I'm going to take what I bought (before I learned better) and optimize those items so I can use them.
My 3080 Ti struggles with the iray rendering viewport... sometimes it will render other times the yellow loading bar just goes round and round with no end result.
That was my initial test and it was on the HD Vic 9 with all items loaded using a click n render hdri.
i did then delete the earrings to see if this helped and it solved the problem.(it was a quick fix and showed me that this product with the hd model is pushing my 3080 Ti to its absolute limits)
Obviously scene Optimizer will be very useful with this product .
ps; just tried it with my 3080 laptop and its a no go in its current state... can only handle the hat and dress without gumming up.
I don't think the producty will be super useable to me. I'd have kept it installed just in case but 4 gb install size and the huge load it puts on renders just makes it not worthwhile to me. I don't particularly care that it is "fetish" gear or anything but it's jsut not practical to use.
There is no excuse for geometry being so dense, and with 4GB+ drive space usage, it sounds the UV mapping is just as bad (textures/maps having most of the image area not used for anything)
I was just staring at this mesh and wondering where do I even start decimating it. It looked as it all was made of quads, but which and how many loops do I remove without (for an example) pockets collapsing?
It looked like an extreme case of subdivision modelling. Something you'd use only for baking normalmaps for a lower resolution final model.
I'm fairly sure Daz decimator couldn't handle it, Blender decimators love creating random n-gons if you are not careful, and streamlining it by hand would take ages.
Then you had quite mysterious choices like how the texturing is used. For an example those heads sculpted on jewelry are not made with normalmaps and if you remove enough loops they disappear. They are all geometry. Normalmap is empty there. But those Greek meanders encircling the medallions? Those are normalmaps only.
Don't you have modo? If you take the model into modo, plus the morphed versions, and bake each morphed version to a morph on the base then you can edit the shape and the morphs will (mostly) be preserved.
If I do decide to light $75 on fire, I think I will avoid the bundle out of principle and just buy the items I want separately. Sure, not as much value, but I don't want it to seem like I'd actually WANT to buy that train wreck.
Hear, hear! I asked for these for G3M & G8M to no avail; so, maybe it's not commercially viable.
Ignore my earlier post... i can't get this to render even with scene optimizer and its totally gummed up my system!
gonna have to return it
once I would say they accidently saved the subdivided version of their model by mistake
but if all their products are like this (I own none) then yes, a very odd choice
