You're welcome.
My iPad won't charge. I spent all afternoon getting to an Apple store, waiting for my Apple appointment, talking with Apple person, and then going back home. I feel like taking a nap.
Oh, I did find out that Apple has external hdd. Wonder if they will work with my dell laptop?
Why would you want to pay more money for an external drive that is for Apple computers, when you have a Dell? Just get a nice SDD with USB 3 connection. Samsung makes good ones! They're very fast (assuming your Dell has a USB 3 port) and not that expensive these days.
Dana
Nope.
Well, since our household is basically just two women and two cats now, we don't have a lot of dirty dishes either. But we never had a dishwasher before, and when we finally got one, I really wanted to use it. I was looking for anything to put in there to justify doing a load. I even resorted to putting the sink stopper and the can opener in there. Eventually, after replacing the can opener, I found a somewhat feasible way to fulfill my need. I'm such a coffee addict that I can fill the top rack with used coffee mugs in less than a week. And I prefer plastic... silverware... over metal. I've come to realize I can put plastic spoons, forks, and knives in the dishwasher and they come out looking like new. Eventually they weaken and crack, and I throw them away. But I'm getting many more uses out of them than I was before. The other woman still handwashes everything.
...I actually use the dishwasher to store clean plates, bowls, cups, and storage containers in. as the kitchen doesn't have a lot of cabinet space
Hmmm..., " I'm such a coffee addict that I can fill the top rack with used coffee mugs in less than a week. " Well, I can see how that's possible, but I have a matching set of four mugs*, one antique cup, and one commemorative mug. The commemorative mug has held pencils for years. The antique cup is the last part of my mother's HUGE set of "Hull" that I sold at auction 20+ years ago. But one cup was found later, hiding from the auction and now it stays in a place of respect. Three of the other four are stacked neatly in the cupboard, busy collecting dust. The remaining cup gets washed thoroughly once a month if it's lucky. No, that's not quite true. I do rinse it probably every night, but I can't conceive of having more than one cup being dirty at a time. What's in your cups that need "one-use" treatment? My coffee kills all germs. And, once in a while, I scrape the accumulated scale & gunk and sell it on ebay for any number of purposes.
*Note: I define "mug" as a cup-like container that holds at least 12 ounces of liquid. Whereas a "cup" is no more than 8oz. (because an Imperial "cup" is defined as 8oz). Also, "pint" = 2 cups, "quart"=2 pints, and "quart" is approximately 1 liter.
A ponderable: Hmmm... why is "pints" pronounced pie-nts not pin-ts? (i.e. long 'i' not short) "English" ya gotta' love it.
I have several coffee mugs but only one large enough to hold the amount I require.
@LG: Maybe the 2 cats are why NylonGirl likes to wash her coffee cups so often. I have two cats and they do like the smell of milk in my coffee.
I only have two coffee mugs at my house.
Well, one to break and one to drink from?
Complaint: Ear worms. OK, it's my fault. I listened to the the "Fantastic Scherzo" by Josef Suk (pointed to in an earlier post, pg43) a few times and now the "order" part is resonating in my head when it empties of other distractions. And even some of the "chaos" parts wiggle their way into the persistent, mental landscape. I find myself wanting to sway and dance as the "order" theme plays in my head. Most embarassing when it happens while I'm toddling out to get the mail. This wouldn't be bad if I could whistle the melody, but I'm a terrible whistler and the range is just not in my reach. I can however hum it, which would be even more embarassing if my dissonant humming was overheard.
Complaint: is it "was overheard" or "were overheard"? Or possibly "were to be overheard", or even "was(or were) to have been overheard"? Ghaaaaa.... English has a really boogered up future tense, and so many types of past tense I think what I need here is the future past-tense, whatever its official name is.
My standard coffee mug is a 20 ounce Corning soup mug... I've got four in different colors.
Since I microwave my coffee (I generally make a gallon or two of super-dark-strong coffee and store it in the basement fridge where humanity is safe from it), the Corning mug is a good choice because it's glass and doesn't absorb heat like some ceramic mugs do.
I was going to snag a picture of one (to show which ones) from Am _ _ on* or somewhere, and I noticed another typical example of Am _ _ on* prices... the cheapest one on Am _ _ on* is $19 ($29 max), but generally in stores like Macy's, Bloodbath & Beyond or Walmart they are $10-$12... I feel like I'm the only one who remembers when everyone used to try and convince me to buy from Am _ _ on* because they were so cheap... oh, and that "free" "two day" five day shipping too...
* Am _ _ on - as in the company named after the Brazilian rainforest river or the uni-boobed female warriors of Ancient Greek legends.
Yes, buying from Amazon can be more expensive, but when it's the only reasonable option, a few dollars more for some things is OK by me. And if I didn't have the "free" shipping I'd be out of luck for a lot of stuff.
Some things are actually cheaper when ordered via Amazon if one already has the "Amazon Prime" service (and a few more dollars to include "Prime TV" subscription). I often make two or more orders per week so the cost of "Prime" is worth it over the year. I get major brand name canned fruits and vegetables in bulk (8x or 12x at a time) for less per can than the local grocery store charges for lesser quality storebrand. Yeah, you need to know the local store price of your products, and you have to be careful during the Amazon ordering process, to not accidentally pick an expensive vendor. When I need stuff like that I search the catalog carefully and will wait days or weeks or months until a vendor pops up with a better deal. But eventually I have to order it to be delivered if the cost is anywhere near reasonable, or make more frequent toddles up to the grocery store and buy them individually. And Amazon delivery is right to my porch using somebody else's sweat. (I gotta remember to tip the postman well at Christmas!)
Your Amazon deliveries are via the Post Office? Mine are delivered with the dark blue vans with the smile on them!
Dana
Most of mine are by UPS. My area is a small town and we don't have Amazon delivery service. The few that come by postal service are either in my mail box way out by the road or just dumped by my garage; so, no tip for them.
I get deliveries mostly by USPS. But sometimes UPS via USPS for the final mile, and sometimes directly by UPS.
I feel terrible. I think I got reprimanded for sitting at the table in the back. Apparently I'm not allowed to sit there because I don't smoke. Also I feel like I did something else wrong because the staff won't tell me where I can sit outside.
...I like having items delivered to my apartment door. Particularly so if it's something bulky or heavy so I don't have to try and muscle/manoeuvre it onto the lift and down the hallway. I've also purchased items for less that normal retail as well. For example the British tea I like is 3.99$ on Prime while at the local Safeway (that stopped carrying it) the price was around 6$ (if it was in stock).
The main thing I like about Amazon shopping is they seem to have almost everything. There are things I can't find in local stores, but Amazon has them. I wasn't aware that there is a separate fee for Amazon Prime shipping and the TV shows on Amazon Prime. Is that for real? Anyway, I got into online shopping years ago because I couldn't get my brother to drive me to a store. So when I found out I could get stores to send things to me, that was amazing. Then I soon found out about Amazon and worked out that I was ordering enough stuff that the Amazon Prime cost was less than the shipping cost. Then they added TV shows, and for a while they had a decent streaming music service. By now, I have my own car and everything, and there are really young people that I myself refuse to drive anywhere. But I still keep Amazon Prime and an untold number of other subscription services. How they get me is the family plans. It doesn't seem like as much of a waste of money if four other people benefit from it too.
...yeah, if you are "automotive challenged" and have creaky bones & joints Prime is worth the extra cost as you don't pay any extra shipping charges and in many cases your order arrives in a couple days rather than weeks. Like I also mentioned it is delivered right to your door (a bonus when living in a multi floor apartment building). If you are flush with cash you cna also shop at "Whole Paycheque" on line and have your groceries delivered so no standing in checkout lines or trying to figure out price codes at the self check stations.
Speaking of checkout lines just got back from the local Safeway where I had to pick up a couple things and some fresh veggies for my pasta sauce only to stood in a checkout line 5 times longer than it took me to shop. Normally I would have just gone to the self check area for the few items, but I also had produce which requires putting in the pricing codes which you have to enter on the faux keypad that most check stand operators know by memory.
Back when I got my "Prime" service(s), the "Amazon Prime" shipping service was something like $10/month and the add-on for "PrimeTV" was about $3 more. I've been paying their bill for several years ever since, and haven't checked what the current service names, marketing prices and practices are. But currently my combined Amazon delivery and video bill is $16.19. But of course I also subscribe to one (rarely two) additional streaming services like HBO, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+, Showtime, Netflix, etc. for an additional $10-$12/month on a rotating basis as I get bored with the current streaming service. So many programs, so little quality.
I spend most of my TV time watching stupid people do stupid things. I also do a lot of yelling at politicians, which often fulfills the first category too.
Help!
...wonderfully goofy film, directed by Richard Lester. Stood in line for several hours to see it when it premiered
cool. I think it was released in the 60's. I wasn't doing anything in the 60's or the 70's.
Oops! I feel awful. I think I somehow messed up things at this home and I don't really understand how or what happened.
Every so often I will encounter a grocery store that doesn't bother to put the little pricing code stickers on their produce and it always baffles me, because in every case people get to the self-checkout and they have to call over a cashier to enter the codes. Seems like it would be a lot more efficient to do the former than the latter. Whole Foods seems to be the worst offender- perhaps they have decided that the stickers are too wasteful/litter-y, or some ambitious junior executive saw a quick way to shave pennies and boost the quarterly numbers...
Non-complaint: Yay, a mini-adventure uptown today. Took the bus (which came right to my door. Wheee...) to do laundry. Had breakfast at Burger King. Took care of prescriptions & necessities at the CVS drug store. Then took an UBER to the BigLots store, farther uptown, to shop for a new recliner chair. Unfortunately, the local BigLots had "SmallLots" of recliner chairs on display. And BigLots wanted $150 to deliver, even if I'd bought it at the store. So that idea fizzled out. Took an UBER back to home and ordered a chair from Amazon. No delivery fee (Yay Amazon Prime), and I got a $40 off coupon. So, many things accomplished today. It's a good day. Wheee...

Yeah, yeah, it's a cheap chair, but it will probably last the rest of my life if I don't gain a hundred pounds or abuse it.
One of the advantages of being old. You 're not worried about 20 year guarantees.
So this is a first. "Update" is the only option available for a file. I can't load it in any way or form until it updates, and I have to do so in the content list by right clicking since trying to do it in the Smart Content tab just opens up the Manual page for it. So after a almost five or six minutes of "Obtaining data from DAZ Connect..." it finishes, only to tell me I still need to update the file before I can use it. Giving up trying to do so withing D|S I just go to the Install Manager and tell it to install the product. Back in Studio, it's still insisting I need to update it, but at least I can load the file into the scene.
Also, can D|S work with multiple viewports?
Connect overrides any and all other installation methods, so if Connect thinks a product isn't installed properly or need an update, one can install with the other means until the end of days and the product still doesn't work.
What do you use as your primary installation method? If it isn't Connect, then you should not log in to DS.
That happens when some or all of the files fail to decrypt, please report it to Daz. I can't see which product it is to test on my end, should I have a copy.
