I think the general consensus on getting wishlisted items in the calendar was to add more than one item wink Personally, throughout the whole month (so 62 items) I only had 2 or 3 items that weren't on my wishlist. But then, I have over 2700 items on my wishlist, so there's a huge chance at least some of them will be qualifying items.

As - it seems - only DO items in the wishlist were rewarded as presents, getting more I would like to have as presents was tough enough from the start. So in the end, there were really just two left (!) that were in the proper age and price range (as I thought) which both weren't given as presents. So I'd say I did my best to get proper nice presents, but probably made some mistake when choosing the items I would have had.

And it worked quite nicely for most of the month, just in the end, when there were only those two eligible items left, I was disappointed wink

No complaints here. Only one item of the 60 (since it started on the 2nd for some reason) was non WL for me, and even then it was a decent G8 hair item. I closed out the month with a free texture pack for an outfit I was gifted on the 15th.  Today isn't doing anything for me sale-wise, but meh, often the holidays don't. Maybe tomorrow will do better, maybe not. I did well on other days. There were a few days this month that the sales were good enough that I spent $20-$30, and I netted two character bundles I wanted, and I consistently found cheap stuff I'll use to keep up my punches the other days (even if some days it was a struggle with the current pricing). Overall it was a good month for me, and even moreso with the generous PA gifts.

IIRC the Lunar New Year sale was pretty spiffy last year, maybe that's the next one I look forward to. In the meantime, off to finish cataloging my haul and start playing with my new toys. :)

  • I can now safely state that this year, all of my Advent freebies were off my wishlist. Weirdly, about half the time or more, the $2.99 item was not. I had around 50 DO wishlisted items at any given time, mostly of G8 era, that I periodically added to through the month.

  • I got zero WL items either. When I still got freebies on the calendar, they were like V4 vintage. Almost all of the 2.99 items were G3 or earlier, that weren't textures for some obscure outfit. Didn't exactly get my blood pumping. Almost like whatever algorythm they have deciding this stuff was set to tell people who haven't spent like a whale in the past year to not bother.

I'm very very far from whale status. I do wonder if it was tied to punch card status, though.

I was offered WL items even when I had no punches. I did the $1 GC thing to finally get some free items. The items themselves were mostly cheap, ancient items that happened to be on my WL. When I had my punches charged up, I was offered a couple of awful not-wl items, too. As I started spending $5+/day, I reliably got notably better WL items, but nothing over $25. The $2.99 items were reliably bad deals throughout. At $1.99, many of them would have been a lot more attractive and I probably would have bought them.

Huh. I spent as little as possible... All my picks to keep my punch card up were under $3, a lot of them closer to about $1.50, with the exception of the handful of days the stars aligned and there was a sale good enough to spend $20-30'ish on. Tthe oldest thing I got was on the first day (https://www.daz3d.com/feeling-sick-cold-stuff) when I only had a gift card purchase to unlock it. After that, I had G8 poses & clothes/textures, plus a bunch of newish-seeming shaders, props, and environment

My $2.99 deals were about the same, IIRC, but I didn't spend a lot of time looking at them. My strategy was figuring that whatever I bought to keep up my punch card was basically half-price because the other half paid for the "free" AC item, so getting the $2.99 one defeated the purpose.

At this point unless I desperately need a DO item I tend to save it for my monthly $6 coupon or as fodder for the occasional deals like we got for St. Pat's, or the AC.

Heh. New orange banner and tile for the same Premier deal that's on the daily sale page.

    ...still not tempted.

  • theflarftheflarf Posts: 170

Yeah, no Premier for me, if Premier stays as a recurring monthly membership I will not be buying.

So once my Daz+ runs out, i'll be in the basic, and will save money in the long run probably with the lack of good deals from no membership

  • NathNath Posts: 2,840

I've taken the two months of Premier, and won't be renewing after that; maybe join for a month or two at the end of the year. Premier is the better deal if you're spending big, but I have been working on spending much less. The new DAZ+ pricing is not attractive.

  • TorquinoxTorquinox Posts: 3,520

I got premiere when the $20 promo started. It runs out next month. I'll let it go this week, let it expire next month - use the coupons and pick bundle before it goes. I'll likely get it again in March because the stretch from mid March to Easter was great! My biggest spend of the year, greatest reward too. We'll see if history repeats.

the dearth of gc discount is a bit offputting, along with the continued absence of exciting flash sales. Seems like a different strategy in play now.

  • TorquinoxTorquinox Posts: 3,520

With the extra $20, it's worth it. With some tokens and punches, it would have been awesome!

Flash sales seem like they're more sparse during the big sale months anyway... maybe it'll pick back up in Jan/Feb?

Afair, @Hylas started to get items from the wishlist once it included over 170 possibly eligible DOs.

I have over 700 DOs in my wishlist, with likely less than half eligible and afair, all items, wether the 'free' ones or the $2.99 ones were from my wishlist.

Maybe. It's just, in past years, there have been some epic flash sales during the holidays and during other major sales. I have a theory about the flash sales. I think they're on hiatus due to errors. It's pretty well known that flash sales often have errors that allow customers to get expensive bundles and such for impossibly low prices. Now, we know the bundles still pop during big sales for quite low prices, but that usually requires stacking and tokens. And tokens especially means spending money to get the prices down. So I think maybe the errors in the flash sales have Daz rethinking that aspect of the operation. And maybe it's down to putting preference on tokens and stacking that means spending more money over flash sales that are instant savings. And I wonder if the same isn't true now for the GC sales? I could be wrong - there might be a flash sale or a GC promo at any time. But for now, both are conspicuously missing from the menu. >_>

Interesting theory. I could also see there being an element of, with all the bugs, just not being able to get them to work right during the time they're listed, and maybe that generates a flood of tickets they'd rather not deal with? But yeah, the point of occasional flash sales is to get people in the habit of coming back frequently, plus FOMO to click the purchase button before the time expires, but if folk aren't buying because the code is broken, it's not a good ROI. Incentivizing spending makes more sense.

And as others have pointed out, now they have to take into account the higher discounts baked into the Premier tier when they consider pricing.

  • So I stopped in to check LDs on my way to pay for a cart and found the Niketa pro bundle there for what turned out to be $4.09 - 98% off - once it was in the cart. Do I need a lion woman? Er, nope. But at $4, if I can use anything from that bundle, ever, it was worth it.

Congratulations! Lucky duck! I wishlist the Egyptian goddess outfit. I suspect you might use at least a few of the items. In any case, glad for you!

Thanks! It was a fun find. I hadn't really given the bundle and its contents a fair second chance, but I think several of those items could come in handy.

I would totally have cashed in on the 20% deal! But my budget has already long been busted in other shops. Maybe next year!

Oh my god, there’s a wishlist discount and a free month, is this true?

Do we still need to PUNCH CARD in for another month?

    I need more GIFT CARD!!

People who have purchased many discounted gift cards are very lucky, there is a $40 difference in spending $200 with a gift card or credit card.

Now I'm just stuck here, can't shop or not shop.

Wow, okay, totally didn't expect the advent calendar to extend into January! Waffled yesterday on whether to get something to keep my punches going, but figured it would be null and void once January rolled in, so I didn't bother. Back to zero. Still got offered a freebie from my WL, though, so cheers to that.

..well it's just past "Daz Zero Hour" here on the Left Coast and managed to do some late minute shopping.   As it was "payday" today and likely the last dy for taking advantage of having 3 holiday punches, decided to splurge a little.  I managed to load up on some essential Zev0 utilities for G9 and Calypso (being half fish, she counts as a "creature") in the "Best of" sales.

Also got the tokens I used back as well (do love these double token Mondays & Tuesdays).

All in all not a bad sale particularly as you only needed to make a purchase over 1$ to get and keep punches active  (the 2.99$ Calendar and Holidaz Deals items came in handy for this).

...OK, I should have expected this.

The sale is extended....not just for another day or two, but as it appears, for the entre month of January as there is a new calendar.

    Unless it's a big glitch.

By the way, anyone else getting hit with bad gateway errors?  It's been happening to me rather frequently since last week.

I think that's a fair guess, that flash sales might be scarce due to bugs & excess support tickets. The flash deals mostly benefit people who happen to be shopping at the time - Conversely, the punch card and token promotions create a more predictable flow of money, and encourage people to shop daily, as we gamble that banking some discounts might be worth it all in 30 consecutive tomorrows.

Those banked discounts might be why we haven't seen gift card offers lately. Think of the tokens/punches as a sort of liability. There's no cart max for them, so in theory somebody could suddenly bring enough cash and combine banked discounts to spontaneously buy a big chunk of the store's top content. The marketing team has to account for that, and also has to factor in frequent extra discounts for Premier to attract new sign ups, and occasionally give Plus members an incentive as well. Lots to juggle. Imo gift cards come back as soon as sufficient banked punches and tokens have had a chance to expire.

The 20% cart discount, without it being delivered as a gift card, is a great compromise! Just too late in the game for me. After a long month of competitive shopping (lots of stores out there!), my mind says YES but my wallet says NO.

DAZ must have calculated that a lot of the discounted gift cards have been consumed before launching the 20% off offer for $200. When the discounted gift cards appear, other discounts will definitely disappear.

If there is a discounted gift card at least I can play the PUNCH CARD game in every day, now I can just be a spectator, wait, I can also render all the cool stuff I bought.

It looks like DAZ has taken back the calendar, well, game over.

Everything I got  from the calendar was in my wishlist but all older things I flagged on purpose to grab as freebies if they ever started offering freebies with pro bundles again. I never would have paid for those items, but nice to get them free. laugh

Cheers to that! Hope you grabbed the freebie! Looks like the calendar is actually done - not there now. Good thing I looked at it at a little after Daz midnight. I got https://www.daz3d.com/egyptian-pharaoh-makeup for free and it's an item I wanted - it includes the headdress! I've had it in and out of my cart for a while 'cause it was on sale but not a great deal, etc. So, thanks Daz!

No decent Gift Card discount = no more Store Credit = no more buying.  So that's me washed out of the sales until the next Gift Card sale.  $200+ of stuff to get a discount on Gift Cards is not an appealing promotion to me.  And resetting punches to zero after missing a day instead of just dropping one punch is rediculous.  I fairly certain they've previously done sales with one punch for each of the last three days of spending rather than resetting the count.  Maybe that was just too confusing.

I guess just wishlisting stuff for a while will be good practice for when my DAZ+ membership expires in July.  Spent way too much on these sales anyway so I guess they were successful.  Until they aren't.
