Well, today I got Cecelia Updo for Genesis 9https://www.daz3d.com/cecelia-updo-for-genesis-9 ) to ease my madness for 11 items at 88% off the cart total. That's just mad I tell ya!!!!

The updo is very different from the other updo hair I have bought here and on Renderosity. I am always amazed at how small changes can make a very different hair style. I'll be using it on G8 since I don't do much with G9 at this time.

Well. Got all excited that prices were good and I could use my PA coupon after all.

Went to check out and the price jumped DRASTICALLY.

Definitely counts as 'mad'. Not the good mad.

Cart's empty, I'm out. Congrats, Daz. I was about to spend a decent chunk of change for the first time in MONTHS... looks like you get $0 from me today instead. Well played.

Not answering any specific question but please remember to read all the fine print. I have been tripped up by that on many occasions so i am not pointing fingers (mostly so i don't poke someone's eye out).

As an example this is beneath one of the deals on the March Madness Sale:

‡Discount excludes New Releases, Memberships, Gift Cards, and Daz Plus Items.
Cannot be used to discount items already owned.
    *Minimum discounted price of $2

yeah, there was (presumably) a bug earlier today and prices were much lower for a hot second there.

The discounts for the Mad Artist Store were set in the wrong order: instead of going up from 60% for the newest items to 85% for the oldest, they went the other way around, so going down from 85% for the newest items to 60% from the oldest.

And because every page of the store is using caching to improve performance with the exception of the cart (which will always calculate the price when we are loading our cart page), once they fixed the discounts, the price displayed in the cart was higher that the one displayed in the store, at least during the time needed for the system in charge of caching everything to update everything.

I'm out of patience with the whole "oopsie" MO.

I made a note of the prices I would have paid for those products. I now will not be purchasing them unless I can get them for lower than that. Any similar situations in the future will receive the same treatment. Yes, even if that means I don't end up getting them at all.

I also made note of how much I'd been about to spend. That money will be going to something other than Daz. Plus six bucks for the PA coupon that will now expire.

If they're going to waste my time jerking prices around because they can't be bothered to QA test it before they go live, they don't get rewarded with my discretionary spending. Simple as that.

Hi, anyone else having an issues today with sale percentages showing misleading values? For example for this product https://www.daz3d.com/fe-cool-punk-microcurl-hair-for-genesis-9-and-8-female I see a price with 85% sale (I am daz+ member), but after adding it to a cart, the sale drops to 64%. Thanks

It was reported in the sales reporting thread and seems back to normal. I'm Daz+ (and golden ticket as well, just like you), and this item now shows the correct 60% off, 64% in the cart (due to the ticket). If it's still showing 85% for you, try hard refresh of the browser.

Had an orange banner for 50% off Daz+ items with Newly Mad release since I bought X amount of stuff this week.  Some great deals to be and cleared a lot of the Daz+ items off my list wish.  If you take out the $25 dollars for a "doorbuster", 2 newly mad items I can see myself using at some point, and three items I had tabs open for as need when a decent sale hits, I am left with 45 Daz+ items for a little under $1 each.  If I factor in that I used a gift card I got for 20% off that brings the that to slightly less than $0.80 average per Daz+ item.  That's all combined with the Gold star discount, Newly Mad item discount, the orange banner discount, a couple took advantage of the discount for including Tues/Fri new Daz+ items and 8 tokens. I'd say that is bordering on slightly Mad of a deal.

    "Today Only"

Why run a single day catch-up when you know that people need a day of notice in order to purchase something small to get a gold star to make the catch-up worthwhile?

Daz has made it easy to very drastically reduce my spending here this year. A full catch-up weekend might have convinced me to buy a few things. Ah well.

The VDB Essentials - Prep and Animate Bundle ( https://www.daz3d.com/vdb-essentials--prep-and-animate-bundle ) is very nice. Into the cart with 10 other items at 88% off for the cart! Simply mad.

Triggered my Madness - 73% discount on my purchase and I was able to clear out all of the Lilflame items in my wishlist.  I'm calling that a DAMN GOOD DEAL.  Now if there's a massive Genesis 8 figure sale mid march I'll be a happy camper.

Lilflame and Sveva do great work, just wish I did not have to keep flipping between DAZ and Renderosity to see all their work and read the ReadMe files that aren't transfered over to DAZland.

Just took a look and they swayed me to buy 128 of their products on DAZ and atleast a dozen on Renderosity. Curse them for being so good!!! laugh

G8 - You and me both. ALL SALES MUST BE G8 SALES by executive order from me, the CUSTOMER. Unfortunately somebody will just rescind that executive order when they are the CUSTOMER. laugh

Wouldn't be the first time that a sale goes an extra day or two ... but that said, I will be checking out with my "catch-up sale" cart before Daz midnight.

I guess I've been here too long. There's no incentive to buy new items and I already purchased all the old doorbusters I want and the ones left, I've passed on for years and are not worth $2.49 to me to get 10% off my cart. I didn't even check the sale yesterday. Maybe I'm Dazzed out and these sales are really meant for newbies. I know the new items I want will eventually be much cheaper. In the past new items were 50% off without a gold star. I did get a new FilaToon item at the beginning but I don't see any worthwhile deals the way this is going. The doorbusters aren't changing and there's literally nothing for me to buy at a decent price so I guess I'll save a lot of money this MM by not purchasing anything. This feels weird. I could get better deals two weeks ago than in this supposed "sale."

All the errors in the ads and the advertised prices that are not real in the cart, just make me mad, and I don't want to waste more time in the store. I haven't bought much. I have no tokens. I'm uninspired by what I've seen so far.

Well, the kick-off to March Madness has gone very well for me. Tomorrow all of my coupons renew, and hopefully the great deals will continue!

Wow, I just looked at your profile. You joined in December 1969 when Chris Creek was 9 years old. That IS impressive. wink

I know what you mean about really most new items are rinse and repeat of things you already have or never wanted. In my opinion, DAZ new products are for newbies who don't have an old library to draw upon, but really that is how everything in life. Old makes way for new. Plus the new can used used in other apps in ways the old item can not with a lot of tweaking.

Since you have been a member since 1969, you must remember when they did polls on the forum and we would vote for which items would get an ultra-mad price the next day. I really miss the fun when people would canvas for the product they wanted to see next and what they could quick render with what they bought the previous day. it was not just sales but interactive sales. Man I miss riding my dinosaur.

Lol. That's obviously an error. I have no idea how that happened. Daz and I didn't exist yet. I actually joined in 2005. I wonder how it came up  with 1969? I think the forum software took too much bad acid at Woodstock lol.

Are you sure? Dan, Chris, Lisa, and the rest were pretty creative. Maybe there was a secret DAZ known only as DAC (Dan and Chris). I bet it was groovy. laugh

...yeah, that early price glitch caught me for a loop.  There was something about having a gold star offering 50% discounts on Mad Artists and Related Madness items (which when I did a few calculations on those low prices was the case), However, apparently that was in error as it now reads New Releases and Still New Releases.

    Dumped the cart after that.

The glitch price also shows up as the "Recent best price" for all items in the Daz Deals Price History which is misleading.

I'm at 233 Products on Renderosity, and around 274 items on DAZ, not counting the ones moved over or dropped from Renderosity.  And I've got 11 more items I just wishlisted at Renderosity.  Yes, my madness was triggered!

The catch up sale is overwhelming. But some great deals to be had! I keep multiple wishlists (via browser bookmark folders) and shortlists to help whittle down the listings. Good to keep in mind there'll likely be other catch up sales during MM.

so far the MM sale isn't all that bad for me. I've gotten some of my WL purchased, and real good deals overal. Now I'm at the point of spending too much again. I'm weak.

I've been spending way too much.  My mentality of "I might use this someday" is heavily reinforced when it's a good price and catches my eye.

Guilty. I'm going back to programming a couple of games I've had on the backburner for a number of years and I took advantage of the sale to pick up some Interactive Licenses for things I probably won't use but *might*, figuring if I even use one or two characters in the 3D games I've saved more than enough to pay for the ones I don't use. Case in point: Normally $50 each, for only $7.50 I snagged licenses for both Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 base figures.

I'm almost done, but sadly I'm still making the same mistake of seeing something I already own (thinking when I bought it, "hmmm, I *might* use that...") and seeing that the license is on sale and thinking, "hmmm, I *might* use that in a game...".

  • I already read that gold star takes effect the next day after the purchase but since there isn't any visual prompt to let you know if you have a gold star or not, do you get the gold star even if making the purchase with store credit? I seem to remember some similar discount gimmicks like that not working with store credit.

  • MelanieLMelanieL Posts: 7,491

You get a gold star for purchasing anything over $1 by any payment method - I always use Store Credit as my payment method (except when I'm actually buying a GC) and have had a Gold Star every day since the start of the sale.
