I can see the Connect Available and Connect Installed filters after upgrading to the new version 1.1.0.62 but I do not see SKU Range and Generation filters for 3D figures. How do I use them? Do I need the CPA product to use those filters?
There should be a product in your Ready to Download tab called "Default Install Manager Filters". I don't think most products, if any, have the "for which figure" data yet.
Install/Update the Install Manager Default Filters package (free to everyone as part of Install Manager). You can find the package by typing sku::14811 into the Filter Field.
You use the filters by clicking the Filter Menu Button, navigating the Filter Menu(s) to the Filter you want to use and clicking it—this causes the contents of the Filter to be inserted into the Filter Field. If you hold the Ctrl/Cmd key on your keyboard when you click the Filter, the contents of that Filter will be appened as a subfilter.
CPA (Content Package Assist) is an entirely separate product that allows others to create content packages that can be installed by Install Manager without conflicting with the packages created/distributed by Daz 3D proper.

Updated without issues; and downloaded the updates without issues.
I don't use Windows Firewall.
Thanks Rob. I totally missed that tiny icon near the search field. I was worried when these filters did not show up on clicking "Download Filters".
I have things re DIM I need addressed. One simple, one probably not.
(1) Where the heck is the default folder that holds thumbnails and manifests?
(2) I've had to move several content/runtimes off my hard drive onto an external. Identical names, just a different path. I've changed the paths in both Studio and DIM.Studio can find all files ok. DIM can install new files ok.
But DIM does nothing re change of path and holds on to the old one when I ask to see installed files. Sounds like a job for batching but I wouldn't know how, what, where. Help please.
Edit to add that I installed the new version, use windows firewall, and have had no problems.
I've changed them, but on WIndows the default paths are something like Users/Public/Documents/DAZ 3D/Dazdim1/Thumbnails and Users/Public/Documents/DAZ 3D/Dazdim1/ManifestFiles
You'll want to batch edit the files in ManifestFiles to change the line that reads:
<UserInstallPath VALUE="Q:/All Runtimes/My DAZ 3D Library"/>
to the new install location. Not that you should use the forward slash separator even on Windows.
Thanks
I finally found it in
Users/Public/Public Documents/DAZ 3D/Install Manager/
which has folders for Filters, Manifest Files, and Thumbnails. It was the 'Public Documents' which had thrown me.
Okay, another project now on my extensive DAZ stuff todo list.
I have about a dozen paths to change over 7500 manifest files. That's about a dozen batchings. Hope Edit Pad Lite 7 is up to it. I think so.
Thanks again.
I reinstall my System.. I cant found Daz Install Mannger SaveDate...who can find it?
i already lost my list..
So the first time on downloading 4.9 I got studio. No content (as promised). So I went ahead to downloaded the many, many products I've purchased over the last 10.5 years.
All content said is was for 4.9. Again no content. Lo and behold I had 4.8. So then I dutifully downloaded 4.9 again, and then tried to install something. like one little prop. Nothing...
Now Studio is not installing for me at all.
I've tried several times. First time it was for Mac...Wish I had a Mac, but that's beside the point.
First my computer does not recognize the install. Then I roam around my various options, changing readibility etc. Still no go.
I'm starting to feel like I need to design my own program, just so I can get some things done.
I know this post will probably be shrugged off. At least I was when I received the rather lukewarm welcome when I announced I was coming back.
So I'm going to try one more time...if it doesn't work for me, so be it.
No need to respond to this, as you can see I don't really come here anymore.
You all have a wonderful day!
In the Ready to Download tab click the Download Filters button - make sure that the right platform and bit depths are checked for software. If they are, please psot a screenshot of your settings.
Click the gear icon to open preferences, then go to the installation tab and take a screenshot and post it here.
In the main DIM interface type
sku::13176
into the filter box at top-right - which tabs list items?
What do you mean by SaveData?
The list of what has been installed by DIM and where is in the ManifestFiles folder -- do you have a backup from before you reinstalled?
Thank you for your reply Richard. I'm sorry if I sounded a "tad" big grumpy. But you were the last site of the day yesterday that had "Improved" their site, which resulted in making the sites suddenly not work for me anymore.
So I vented here.
I also found the instruction page for how to check that.
Thank you again.
Catherine
If I have anymore problems I will post the the screenshot.
I just used DIM and there was an update. What is it, other than the larger font and changed font style?
I think that's it this time. Someone in one of the other font-size threads was com\\\ mentioni8ng that the font in DIM was awfully small on his 4K monitor, and this seems to be a shot at a quick fix for that.
Yeah, the OP of this thread was updated with this:
Now, if they would just give us font and thumbnail size options in DAZ Studio....
Thanks Namffuak and argel1200. I read that but that meant nothing. OS virtualization? Sure!
The same workaround is available in the latest beta of DS - work is still being done on a more comprehensive update.
I am now done editing and leave this post so someone can absorb all that information.
Update/Edit 1:
It seems sometimes the server takes a few minutes to adjust the product numbers in the DIM when adding or removing a checkmark in the DIM download settings for Connect Available, Connect Installed.
Update / Edit 2:
It seems after a few minutes the Connect Installed filter is more or less working as expected.
But the connect Available filter does not seem to work properly. The products that are available in DAZ Studio Connect are still shown in the DIM with the filter unchecked?
I will recheck later to make sure that this is not just another server delay.
Update / Edit 3:
I now checked again and replaced the results of the first test with the results of the latest test after the server should have had enough time to update.
-> The number of installed products in DAZ Connect does not match the number of products filtered in the DIM with Connect installed unchecked.
-> When the Connect Available is unchecked all products available in DAZ Connect are still shown in the DIM.
- - -
Can anyone confirm / reproduce this behavior of the DAZ Connect installed available download filters?
- - -
What I wanted to do:
I would like to set up the DIM that it only displays the following files:
- Install Manager files (checkmark placed at Install Manager )
- DAZ Studio releases and plugins (checkmark placed at DAZ Studio 4.5, Software, Plugin, Windows 64 Bit)
- BETA DAZ Studio releases and plugins ( checkmark placed at Public)
- photoshop files (checkmark placed at Photoshop)
- e-on vue files (checkmark placed at Vue)
- obj versions of products (checkmark placed at General)
Or to put it differently:
DIM should hide everything that can be downloaded or installed with DAZ connect.
-> I removed the checkmarks at
- Connect Available
- Connect Installed
- - -
What happened while testing it:
Issue 1: The server seems to take some time to update the numbers when adding or removing checkmars to Connect Available, Connect Installed in the DIM download settings.
Example:
In DAZ Studio Smart Content All it shows a total of 5253 products.
In DAZ Studio Smart Content Installed it shows a total of 1393 products.
In DAZ Studio Smart Content Available it shows 3860 products.
5253 - 1393 = 3860.
- - -
In the DIM with Connect Available, Connect Installed checked it shows 5807 products.
This number seems reasonable this would mean that I own 554 products that I can only install with the DIM and are not available in DAZ Connect.
- - -
In the DIM with Connect installed unchecked it shows 4326 products.
This means the Products installed in DAZ Studio connect should now be filtered.
5'807 - 4326 = 1481
Issue 2: This number does not match the installed products in DAZ Studio Connect which was 1393.
- - -
In the DIM with Connect Available and Connect installed both unchecked it shows 4322 products.
4326 - 4233 = 3.
There are 3860 products in the DAZ Studio Smart Content Available tab. The number of products that should remain in the DIM after both DAZ Connect and DAZ Installed are filtered should be a lot lower than 4322 at 554? In this test run only 3 products counted as available in DAZ Connect.
Issue 3: -> It seems removing the checkmark for "Connect Available" does not remove the products availabe in DAZ Connect from the displayed list in the DIM.
- - -
To summarize:
- Unchecking Connect Installed has an effect on the DIM product list but the numbers are still a bit off compared to the installed product number in DAZ Studio Smart Content.
- Unchecking Connect Available does not seem to have the proper effect at all. Most products that are available in DAZ Connect are still displayed in the DIM.
Can anyone reproduce a similar missmatch in filter behavior and numbers?
Connect will show only one entry per product, usually, but DIM may have multiple entries (for example, several hairs with versions for multiple figures have a zip for each figure but only be a single entry for the whole product in Connect).
Good point. I guess with that observation the difference for "Connect Installed" can be explained.
Installer numbers are not equal product numbers.
DIM is based on installers .zips for different versions of a product.
DAZ Connect is based on products that include the different versions (in most cases).
- - -
Still something may not work quite as intended with the "Connect Available" option. Switching it on or off should not only make a difference of 3 products in a pool of 4000+ installer files.
- - -
In any case the current implementation of "Connect Available" and "Connect Install" does not seem to do what actually would help (new) users:
Hide all files in the DIM for the products they can install directly in DAZ Studio with DAZ Connect.
or in reverse
There should be a simple option in the DIM to show only those products that cannot be installed with DAZ Connect.

I think I know why Connect Available is not working the way we want it to. We want to uncheck it and have the DIM hide all Connect Available products. But it won't do that if there are any other tags on the product that we HAVE selected, like Daz Studio 4.5+. DIM displays the product if ANY of the tags is selected in the filter.
Is there a way to format a filter for the upper right hand filter box that would do what we are looking for?
A helpful person pointed me to the first post in this thread. Look at some of the filters that were added:
Updated default filters;
I tried "Not Connect Available", but I don't think it worked as I expected. It still showed products that were "Connect Installed" in the Ready to Download and Ready to Install.
Edit: I'm getting closer. If I combine the "Not Connect Available" filter with unchecking the two connect related Download Filters, I can get rid of connect available and connect installed items from the Ready to Download tab. But previously downloaded items that were not installed with DIM, but were installed with Daz Connect, still show up in Ready to Install tab. I don't want to see them there. I don't want to accidently install them with DIM when they were already installed with Daz Connect. How can I see only downloaded items that are NOT already installed with Daz Connect? If I change the filter to "Not Daz Installed" I get all the Daz Connect Available items again. Very frustrating.
If you select 'connect installed' in DIM and have products in Ready to Install - select them, then delete selected items. That should move them to Ready to Download. Now select them in Ready to Download and hide all selected.
I think that will do what you want.
Thank you both for looking into this as well.
Great observation. It indeed seems that as long as the DAZ Studio 4.5+ is checked in the download settings this does not play along with the Connect Available tag in the download settings.
- - -
Test 001 DAZ Studio & Not Connect Available
- in the download settings check only DAZ Studio. -> 4184 .zip installers available
- in the the upper right hand filter box check
Filter by Tag / Content / Not Connect Available
Result: It shows me 50 DAZ Studio .zip installers that are not available in DAZ Connect. This seems to work.
Test 002 DAZ Studio & Connect Available
- in the download settings check only DAZ Studio. -> 4184 .zip installers available
- in the the upper right hand filter box check
Filter by Tag / Content / Connect Available
-> 4121 products are shown
- - -
But now here is the catch:
Remember we did only check DAZ Studio 4.5+ in the download settings.
Connect available and Connect installed were NOT selected
-> When Connect available is not checked there should not be ANY results shown of files that are actually in the category "Connect available" in the DIM download list.
-> This means if things were working as they should be there should have been no results when using the upper right hand filter box check Connect available.
-> So yes it indeed seems that it simply does not have any effect to "uncheck" the Connect Available options in the download area of the DIM as long as the DAZ Studio 4.5+ tag is also activated.

Update / Edit:
I submitted a bug report "Request #219558" and linked back to this thread.
To summarize the issue in one image:
- - -
...once again after the update completes it refuses to autoload my password. This is ridiculous. Being dyslexic and having to remember passcodes off the top of my head just doesn't work.
I found it didn't remember my password the first time, but the next time it did.
The trick is to work in offline mode when it restarts after an update. Close and restart, the password will be autoloaded then.
I started a download of my Kimo items at 10:00. 90 minutes later, it's installed exactly eight of them, and I've still got 7 to go. The old server did seem much faster than that. I also have a cable modem, and I normally download something that size in seconds. WTF? It's not hung-- the download counter is moving. It's just sloooooooooowwwww.
