The new Install Manager is so SLOW! SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!

I'm trying to update Daz Studio to version 4.9.2 (previously done in just a few seconds), but I'm giving up...

I don't know if it's just a Daz network problem, a program bug or a way to push users to use Daz Connect...

    Whatever it is, fix it...

The Daz servers are being hammered by DS4.9.2 downloads; they're trying to find solutions.  It's not related to the DIM update.

    OK. Thanks for the feedback

Having a fun time installing programs and some updates with DIM. The products will download but will not update. Interesting enough content does install without much issue. finding them later in studio 4.9 is another thing.

And deleting and re-downloading the zip doesn't make a difference?

Ran a few tests and was able to get DIM to install Studio 4.9 and components that were not content. It turns out that DIM does not  like to install non-content from network drives (SAN to be exact). My DIM download location is on my Western Digital MyCloud drive. Well DIM doesnt like that for non-content.Once I split my install folder for content and non-content/applications, whereas my applications and plugins were on a local drive and the contents were on the SAN. DIM was able to install the applications and plugins. When i switch to the network drive it was also able to installl the content.

  • WHERE IS MY BRYCE 7 PRO THAT PAID FOR TWICE AND THOUGHT I DOWNLOADED ??? TECH SUPPORT SAYS THEY WILL GET BACK TO ME. I have instead some stupid daz studio. if this is part of the bryce pro suite, fine, but where is bryce pro???

  • ChoholeChohole Posts: 33,604

AFAIK  you have to install Bryce 7 Pro manually, rather than by using DIM  as I still have .exe files in my Product Library

...once again after the update completes it refuses to autoload my password.  This is ridiculous.  Being dyslexic and having to remember passcodes off the top of my head just doesn't work.

The trick is to work in offline mode when it restarts after an update. Close and restart, the password will be autoloaded then.

...tried that and still no password loaded even though the "Remember Me" box is checked.

The DIM password is just your store password (because it is logging in to your store account) - if you don't recall it do a reset and use the updated password on the site and in DIM.

...I thought there was a different way by doing some sort of downlad and install trick though I dion't remember what it was.

As I access my account form diffferent machintes (as well as a tablet and smartphone) I would have to change it on all the devices since it is the device that stores it.  This is why I am relucvtant to do password resets if I can avoid them.

You should be able to get your web browser to show the saved password.

I updated to the new DIM in the last week or so and finally installed 4.9 (was using 4.8) at the same time.  Anybody else having issues with painfully slow product uninstalls (small packages a few MB in size take up to 10 mintues to uninstall--they get to 100% and hang--not deleting the product from the Daz Studio Content Library, just leaving a blank product). Since the update, I've had a lot of weird issues with older products not installing properly, e.g. when installed, they show up as blank products in the Daz Studio Content library no assets.  Uninstalling through DIM and reinstalling a few times and/or reimporting the metadata usually resolves it but waiting 10 minutes for tiny packages a few MB in size to uninstall is getting old.  I've reset my database multiple times (which I have over 9000 products installed so waiting for DS to reimport all those is also a pain), rebooted multiple times, tried working offline and online with DIM but the same issue.  Installations (once downloaded) are still blazing fast, just the uninstall is hanging.

Also, seeing this error a lot in the DIM Log:

WARNING: dzpostgresqlobjectdatabase.cpp(39): db delete error: ERROR:  canceling statement due to statement timeout
    CONTEXT:  SQL statement "UPDATE ONLY "dzcontent"."content" SET "description_id" = NULL WHERE $1 OPERATOR(pg_catalog.=) "description_id""

...hmm may roll back to the previous version, just DL the .zip install file, and install through the DIM locally offline.

  • Problem I'm having is I install product, everything looks good, then when I try to use it I get message asking if I want to save before it loads.  If I try to merge it says files can't be found. So I have to uninstall and reinstall through Daz Connect to use the files. I use an external runtime that is in the list of dir in the settings.

I'm having this same issue....I see lots of broken shaders that it won't let me use gives the files not found error or asks to save.

Everything is installed through DIM but it isn't working, NOT fun going through & trying to find missing or broken content...It appears there is some issue when things install via DIM but DAZ Connect is messing things up not letting it install right or something.

    Very frustrating :-(

I appear to be missing items i've bought & have to keep digging around re-installing stuff...

...making me wonder if some components are going to the wrong folders. Not sure, but it sounds as if there might be some sort of conflict occurring.

I'm still using 4.8.  Pulled one of the recent Daz freebies, downloaded and installed with teh DIM, then applied it to one of my characters and nothing out of the ordinary occurred.

Maybe I'll hold off on 4.9 a little longer as I install all my content to a second library drive.

First you have to add the Beta to your account by "buying" it: http://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-beta (it is free)

Second start DIM, click the gear icon in the upper right, go to the Downloads tab, check Public Build and hit Accept

Did they stop separating updates from new downloads in DIM?  I had one purchase today and when I went to load with DIM there were 15 items in the download queue.  How are we supposed to figure out which is a download and which is the new purchase?  I might not want to do updates right now.  If I have purchased a bunch of stuff its going to be really hard to differentiate between new and update.  Especially since I have a lot of stuff so I dont' always recognize stuff I already have in the download process.  Also a lot of times when there is an update, it has a tendency to remove the link that goes to my custom categories. So not only do I not know what's been updated I also have no idea its not linked anymore until I happen to click on something and its disappeared.  And since there isn't an easy way to find stuff anymore it can take a while to track down the product that's been updated.
