Ok, don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining about or over Dim or Connect. The options mentioned are valid alternatives, but just not really for me personally. So my only wonder is why no manual downloads, Just a temporary error?

Most everything should have a manual download. A lot of the packs today have 3 options for download. Manual, DIM and Connect.

Thank you. Particularly since Monday we ought to be getting the 2nd group of newly decrypted products.

Thank you also,  a few more days waiting doesn't hurt (me)...

    YAY!

  • It looks like Lulu and Troubadour have been liberated as well.

The textures are downloadable. The outfit is still a swirly.

    Troubadour, that is.

FWIW, I get swirlies for Lulu and Troubadour in the Product Library. The Troubadour textures shows up. However, all three were available in DIM today and I'm downloading them now.

Downloads for Dragon Queen for G3F and Medieval Storage Room are still MIA, both in DIM and the Product Library, so whatever the glitch is there, it hasn't been fixed yet.

So we must be due new DRMed products soon. (Encryped could actually mean other things - as parts of Daz products that are not DRMed are encrypted). I like clarity.

Just curious, does this refer to programs, utilities or content? What other products are encrypted? (I think this has been mentioned before, but I can't remember it, hence the question....)

My understanding is that some of the files included with all (almost all?) products are encrypted. No doubt if I am mistaken I will be corrected.

Ok, in general, .duf files are compressed, not encrypted, You can open most .duf files by renaming them to .7z and open them with 7-Zip

Scripts are a different matter, as they may be compiled

Scrupts are generally encrypted, nothing else is (though .daz files are not human-readable so may as well be).

I think (though I doubt it will happen) that when items go OFF of DRM, they should be put on sale just like a new item is.....otherwise, sales comparisons between release when new with DRM vs. release when no DRM won't be accurate.  After all, when DRM'd content is new, it still gets the new 30% price for 2 weeks.  They should do the same for the products when they remove the DRM.

Yeah, I know.....not bloody likely.  But it's nice to dream.....(especially after waiting a whole year for some of them.....)

New items will not go on any other sale during the first 60 days. These are no longer new, they could now be part of a 60% off flash sale, or even a 70% off fastgrab.

Ok, sofar, only Lynsey and the troubadour textures are available to me for manual dl. the other 4 still give an error .....

Even if they were given two weeks at 30% after release (from DRM) there would be no meaningful comparison. The items would not be part of the "new" sales churn which is what makes the store go around. Apart from dedicated followers of this thread, who will know about the items at all as anything other than back catalogue?

The release after 12 months is most likely designed as reassurance now (for those of us concerned about DRM) that we won't be completely excluded from content in the future, and can continue our interest in DAZ. I doubt DAZ is expecting a flood of purchases upon release.

DAZ bods are aware and looking into it.

So DAZ really gives encryption files free after the one year.  That means I can use the detective trenchcoat soon ... Glad to read this.

I think a special category (like FastGrab, or such) for the un-DRM'd content might work for that.  Any content that gets released from DRM encumbrance goes into the category for two weeks, at 30% off.

That way, people who were waiting on something to no longer be DRM encumbered could check that location easily to see if any of the content they were waiting on was free.....rather than having to look here.  And it would make it easier to do the '2 weeks newly un-DRM' 30% off.

If, as has been claimed, the majority of sales occur during the first few months then giving a 30% discount to such 12 month old items for a couple of weeks wouldn't hurt......

I can see the logic of your argument, but it does assume that DAZ would want to make a special feature of releasing items from DRM "encumbrance". I rather think that it's something they'd prefer to happen quietly. How do you celebrate an item's term-end in a system that you're trying to promote?

But who knows?  Stranger things have happened.

So how does this thread help me to get my encrypted content un-encrypted?

It doesn't. Here you can find the date when your encrypted content will be available for (re-)download as unencryped content.

  • AndyS said:

if you download the new files they will be unencrypted. The installed files don't get changed.

  • AndyS said:

A previous thread helped with that. ;-)

This thread keeps track of Encrypted Connect Only content, including when it is released in non-encrypted file formats. If you have purchased Encrypted Connect Only content, you can use the list in the first post to see its status. When your encrypted content is released, you can acquire it via DAZ Install Manager or by manual zip downloads in your product library.

  • Explain to me again why textures (Troubadour) needed to be encrypted? Wasn't it possible to save the maps manually once those were loaded in the studio?
