Mine mostly does a throw rug and occasionally morphs into cat mode when she wants food. If new people are around and she wants to impress she'll put on the whole "See! I'm a lioness! Pet me now!" thing but she gets bored and can't carry it off for more than about 5 minutes at a time.
I'm fairly certain she's some sort of alien creature hiding out here for reasons having to do with her ability to eat anything but I may have read too many comics.
And yes, DAZ needs a new cat. milcat is awful in a scene with a G8.
Although the idea of running a sim on a Maine Coon fur makes me shudder. I'm not quite ready to put an LN2 pot on my 1080ti.
...even with a G3.
Ohh cats. Just the maddest of creatures. The Mil Cat LE (which is the one I have) is a truly archaic model and is only representative of a cat if you're a dog lover.
I'm picking up a no vibe here, but I could be wrong!
Still waiting impatiently for Cat 8,9, 10 or whatever.
Haha.
This quote is sooo very true!!
I did go look at Sparkie's new breed morphs, and some of them look really nice ( greyhound! )
Has anyone seen renders of them with fur-d force or strand? I guess Daz dog does not sell, since they rarely put out any new breeds for us. : (
Just for general information, Sparky, over on Philosopher's Egg has added bears to her collection of morphs for the Hivewire dog. Including a bearskin rug morph.
They all take the LAMH preset (and look even better with it) that is somewhere on Hivewire.
think I saw it on facebook someone did newposes for the hw cat all twisty and weird as cats get like others said next cat needs a lot of bones so can do a lot of weird poses like cats really do do oh and expressions would like more control over their facial features like can with humans maybe use g8m/f bases? so we can get to use those poses and expressions? Their have been a few animals that used the human bases
Oh, yeah, the broken cats and ninja cats set. I think that one may be on Rendo as well.
hello. sorry for noob question. but where can i find the cat model? :(
If you mean the Hivewire Cat, It's at renderosity now: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/hivewire-house-cat/122556/
This, or any other cat model. But thank you :)
edit: nevermind. I found it :)
...the one here at Daz is basically a rework of the 16 year old MilCat that has dForce fur and no longer loads in at the scale of a Shetland Pony. Other than that, it still has the same old rigging as the original.
We've had two dogs, two horses, three dragons (four if you count that "half dragon" thing), two "big" cats, and even two cows, yet no totally new domestic cat.
There's a looooonnnnnng thread about the truth of the cow model eg. vs. real cows and so on.
Don't forget Catoon and other anamorphic models (is that the right word) and the many cartoon like ones... ok so I'm diverging from "realism" here <grin>. And btw as with airplane/aircraft/jet plane/aeroplane/warplane etc. the DAZ Store search is very unforgiving about Catoon vs., say, "Cattoon" and "Cartoon".
If I have my way (and this is still a ways off, heh) there will be a FREE dog 8-type of model included in the standard DAZ download library along with Genesis 8 and so on.
Just as an example I have "Catoon" but I didn't learn that there were pose sets for him until a few minutes ago. )-:
..Marguerite The Cow (for Daz Horse 2) looks pretty convincing and also has a pose set.
The issue I have with Marguerite (and DH2 in general) is the fur, or lack thereof. It's overly shiny and relies entirely on bump/normals to make the "fur"...when there really is no "fur". What I wouldn't give for AM to come out with a Catalyzer preset for actual fur. There is a LAMH preset out there for the HiveWire Horse, and it adds a much-needed level of detail and realism.
...indeed, one of the reasons Marguerite is still on my wishlist. I'd rather have LAMH fur than dForce as it looks more natural. That's why I only have the Bulldog for Dog8 (also one of my stories), Would love the German Shepard the Lab, and other breeds but they are all dForce fur (also another reason why I didn't pick up the "new" Daz Housecat even though it appeared in a PC for a Day sale).
AM mentioned a year or so ago he was working on a new small cat (which likely would have LAMH fur) but haven't heard much about it since then.
This sort of Unimesh has proven itself time and time again. HiveWire did this for their Harry base as it became multiple animals with various changes like hooves for the Buck and what not.
As far as I know, Baxter the English Bulldog only comes with dForce fur. I just did a piece with him the other day and didn't see any LAMH options.
...true, but bulldog's fur is very short compared to a say golden retriever, Irish setter, or German shepherd so may not even have to run a sim on it for most shots.
You don't, but the geometry requirement is still the same. Most of the animals that come with dForce fur you don't really need to simulate, unless you're wanting to make the fur blow in the wind or something. The fur on the Direwolf here wasn't simulated -
I do find dForce fur to be ridiculously heavy, moreso than even LAMH fur...and it tends to do really wierd stuff when backlit (I had to turn line tessellation up to 3 on the Direwolf's tail to make the fur not look completely see-through...which of course increased the geometry requirements even more. Turning up the line tessellation to the rest of the animal would cause Daz to completely NOPE so only the tail was turned up). My preference overall is LAMH Catalyzer, but of course that's not always an option. Only AM's own animals come with that option. Any other animal that has LAMH must take the long (and very heavy) route when used with Iray.
Note - Even though Direworlf is by AM, it does not come with LAMH options...only dForce fur. That was a disappointment for sure.
...that's what I hear about dForce fur and hair is the "weight". Not very kind to older hardware like LAMH is. Again the fur on a bulldog is very short so it shouldn't be as bad a memory load as the German Shepard or Dire Wolf.
At least the Hivewire Cat does have LAMH add on options available but like MilCat/DazHousecat it does not have a proper Manx and the alternate breeds are a bit pricey (there isn't a "pack" like MilCat had).
That's not necessarily true: it comes down to settings, like line tesselation and segment count. You might also need to make short fur denser to make it look ok, which would also increase the load.
...most scenes won't be close ups so I thnk I can get away with it.
I wish developers realised that not everybody has or can afford a mini "supercomputer", particularly with the current overly inflated GPU market and memory prices.
Heh heh... eat, or render? Decisions, decisions!

Typing of loading, does an SSD as your boot device run cooler in Windows 10 than, say, a terabyte-sized 5.25" hard disk drive?
Also (not exactly related to Catoon so OT, sorry) I downloaded DS 4.22 last night and is it just me or is the... quality of the Viewport display of figures significantly different looking??? Wow!

Just saying!!!
