Hi Greg, nothing has been done on my end to fix that yet.
Thanks for the quick response guys.
In the meantime, do you know of any way I can DL the installs for DS 4.6 or 4.7?
I didn't keep local archives because I thought (wrongly, as it turns out) that my "Product Library" in my account was an archive of all the products I've purchased. The only version of DS that shows up in my "Product Library" is 4.8. Kind of strange to buy a product and then not have it available for download. And before anybody jumps down my throat and says I didn't pay for Studio, I would point out that I still bought it through the store. And I did pay $600+ for content (including LAMH) in the last year. Anyway, I digress - sorry for that . . .
What version of DS will the update to LAMH require?

Anyone know if someone has created a preset to use on the Noggins Rat (from here at DAZ) that can be used with the free player?

Mmmhhhh I'm afraid there is no preset for it around.
Are we permitted to share presets on Deviantart and Sharecg and the like?
Sure thing!
Thanks for the tutorial regarding Iray. I certainly feel more inclined to give LAMH a go now. For anyone wanting good shader presets for human hair once they export it to use in Iray, Mec4D's Unshaven 2 Iray MATS can be used on other hair with very good results. For animal hair, well, I think the YouTube video has shown the way there.
CHEERS!
I thought I would share what I did for the New User Contest for November. The theme was materials and I decided I had to do a bear cub render with the black bear mats. While I started out in 3Delight, I didn't like how it was rendering because my lighting in 3Delight isn't as good as in Iray which I've been much better at learning how to do effectively. So, I tried rendering the bear cub in Iray. AM's videos were extremely helpful. Also, I saw the note Kendall had posted about using the fiberhair instead of exporting as an object so I used that method.
The first render is what I started out with, my test render right after exporting the fur and zapping it with the Iray Uber Shader and nothing else done yet. The second render is what I managed to get in Iray after plaing with various aspects of the surface settings, lighting and scene setup. I have to admit this bear cub kicked my rear end. I learned a LOT so I'm happy with that, but I concentrated so much on getting the bear just right that I didn't have time to finish the scene itself. The second render is what I uploaded it to the contest before I had to take off for as we were traveling Thanksgiving week. My plan is to actually finish the render now that the contest is over and I can actually concentrate on all of the little nitpicky things I want to fix. This render took about 20 hours to render on my setup. The only postwork is what is listed in the file name. Mostly contrast and adding the lens flare. While I'm sure there is room for improvement, I was quite happy with my first attempt to do this cub. Now that I have him all setup, I just have to save all of my settings as a preset and I should be good to go for future renders.
Very nice results, you managed to remove those glossy sparks on the fur.
Yeah, that took me forever to figure out and, when I finally did, it was such a simple fix!!! Once I figured that out though, everything else just sort of fell into place and was super easy after that. He is a great little cub AM!! I think I have most of your furries and now that I know what I'm doing, I will have to give them all a try in Iray.
Here is my render with your new wolf. It could use some tweaking because I'm not super happy with the composition, but again I ran out of time for a contest. The wolf, however, looks lovely and I followed your video tutorial almost step by step. He was my test before I did the bear cub. I will probably go back and fix the things I think need improvement with the render at some point in the future. I definitely need a little more ambient lighting and something to highlight the wolf more. The fog needs some work, too, as I am still learning about the Above the Fog product and my results in Iray haven't been the greatest yet. However, I was really happy with that wolf. While I liked the old wolf, this one is SO nice to work with.
I'm working on a winter wolf scene myself and am looking forward to getting to play with this in a bit more detail. And again, my thanks for your patience in helping me load this to laptop as well.
Any presets for Genesis 2 and 3 females hair (long, short, or whatever.)
sorry i didnt see this sooner- i haven't gotten any forum notifications form daz in MONTHS. I have a noggin's rat preset- made a few days ago as i finally got the rat. :) I'll get it to Alessandro's presets ASAP :)
Alessandro - what previous version of DS should I install for successful exporting of instanced geometry?
Thanks in advance.
- Greg
Hi Greg, IIRC correctly it's DS 4.7. After that release, things with instancing (code-wise) aren't working as they were. We hope to have a fix for the new LAMH update.
Another of Alessandro's bear cubs, having a nap in the enchanted forest.
Cheers,
Alex.
Hi, very nice. The bear cub probably just finished eating all the food at my bird feeder. Nice render great lighting
sorry wrong topic, gona reask in player topic
Hello Anna you need to export to .OBJ (in the LAMH pane there is a button for it), and then you can use that in any 3D application...
You must export the LAMH preset to OBJ or Fiberhair in order to take it outside of DAZStudio.
Kendall
Hello, it happens because you still have the free player installed. You need to remove it to unlock the full version. If the DIM doesn't make it, you need to go in your Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZ Studio4/plugins folder and delete manually the lamhPlugin*.* files.
After that, install LAMH full version and it will work...
Very good, I'm happy it worked.
Well here's something rather interesting; Over on RDNA the RDNAPro team (Littlefox, RDNAPro & Traveler) have just released their first outfit featuring LAMH fur, and have a very nice pitch for downloading the free player to use it.
It's called Snow Angel for G3F and should be on the top page of What's New. On sale until tomorrow.
I think the little light went on... and yes, it is brighter than the one that comes on when you open the fridge door. After leaving several head-shaped dents in nearby walls, I think I finally "got" exporting a LaMH preset as fiberhair so I can use it in Iray.
Incomplete test render (only let it run for 20-odd minutes) of a hairy wuff. Iray renderer, only base shader conversion, default environment light.
I think I like it.
Hi,
Just bought this product in the 49% off sale. It was bought on an impluse and reading through some threads it seems like it does not work with IRAY.
However I bought as people in threads were saying IRAY support is being worked on. However it seems like the link in the description to the beta page does
not work and the product has not been updated for years (since 2014) according to the page on http://www.furrythings.com/.
Whats going on with this product...? wondering if I made a mistake buying it
That looks sweet, SpottedKitty!
