If this product and NVidia ever has native IRay support, I predict sales of this product to launch through the roof! In my experience it takes a lot of work to get my stuff looking even pasable, but once things are create, Holy Cow does the hair ever look nice!

Native Iray and LuxRender support is a lot closer than you might think. devil

Will you be offering the hair preset to people for both the gorilla and kitten?

The ape model is the HiveWire Gorilla for Dusk.  I had to create my own hair preset.  The image was actually created for the sake of the kitten, for which I am making a "finished" LAMH preset; the gorilla was just a quickie.

  • I am definitely planning on the kitten, probably through HiveWire, since that's where the kitten comes from.  I don't know about the gorilla; it would depend if I get motivated enough to clean it up and actually make it at least sort-of acurate.

  • There is a free preset for the Gorilla for Genesis.

Looks great all the same! Thanks for the info.

Anyone have a render of this combo (Gorilla for Genesis + LAMH preset)?

Wow, those are both fantastic results! Into the cart goes the Daz Gorilla! Thanks for sharing these, Kendall!

  • LAMH Lighting Question. I have not read all 59 pages but have I got this right? LAMH lights fine with UberEnvironment2. LAMH looks fluorescent with 3delight normal lights. LAMH does not work with Iray unless you create an OBJ file in the LAMH player. It would be nice if LAMH worked directly with Iray but in the meantime I will use 3delight or Iray for the main scene and then do a second render using Uberenvironment2 for the animals.

The 'fluorescent  ' look is only in the daz window. It normally renders great in 3DL. I don't play with iray, so someone else will have to answer that.

  • A couple of the promos for the Tasmanian Devil are very furry and look a lot like LAMH but the promo has the Iray logo. How were these produced?

LAMH supports Iray with the LAMH FiberHair in the full version as well as exporting to OBJ in the free player.

LAMH supports Iray with our FiberHair in the Full version.  If you are getting luminsecent hairs in a 3DL render then you'll want to modify the specularity value for the preset's shavegroups in the surfaces pane.  The DS viewport will only show the guide hairs and these will show (by default) as bright green hairs.  The color displayed in the DS viewport can be changed from within the full version's UI.

Thanks Kendall. I have the latest full version of LAMH and tried rendering the Wolley Mammoth in Iray but the hair didn't show up. What am I missing?

Those are LAMH.  They use the LAMH FiberHair from the full version.  A similar result can be had using the OBJ output from the free player with a bit more effort.

Did you click on the Blue FiberHair button to send the fiberhair to DS?

Oops, No. I just loaded the LAMH version and assumed the hair was already created  Now I have hair in Iray but there are a lot of small white areas. I'll try playing around with lighting and environments and see what happens.

  • Those are likely reflections.  Play with the surfaces.  You'll likely want to apply the Iray Uber defaults to the FiberHair.

Hello Charlie, as Kendall suggested apply the Iray Uber shader and then zero all glossy parameters; that will zero all reflections or shiny fireflies on renders.

  • Thanks for the advice. Loaded and posed the red fox and then did the fibre hair options in LAMH and rendered in Iray. Lighting looks good. Now need a LAMH rabbit or squirrel for the fox to chase.

Just happens that Alessandro is about done with those.  Not long to wait for them.

Thanks Kendall and Alessandro. That should work and I'll play with it some more tomorrow when I have more time.

Check the Furrythings website. There are some free presets for the DAZ squirrel and Lynne's rabbit.

  • Posting here, hoping someone can assist me with LAMH. Just purchased a new computer (running windows 10), Daz/Studio 4.9.3.166 Pro Ed. 64-bit. When I try to get LAMH to work, it asks for Serial Number and Activation code (Which I have and input), then hit Activate. Then it tells me to restart Studio. Once I do, it fails and says it is not authorized.

I know I am prrobably overlooking something, but my brain is exhausted. Any help/assistance would be appreicated. Thank you.

You'll need to re-activate.  The original activation was tied to the old machine.

  • When I try to activate, it says restart Daz. When I do, it asks me to do it all over again.

Hello, be careful you are not pasting the codes with extra spaces at the beginning or end. In any case you can email me at info@alessandromastronardi.com with the data you are trying to enter, and I can take a look at it.

  • Thanks Alessandro, that was it. There was a tab space after the activation code that I had missed deleting. Thank you very much!!

  • Great, you are welcome!

Is there some fancy trick I missed allowing you to see textures on the figure in the LAMH editor screen thingie?
