The UV is vertical and all hair goes the same direction so you can use other textures and shaders on it. These are my textures and surface settings, best I could do. It renders lightning fast! Here's the wireframe. My texture skills are not all that, I don't like doing it and my skills at the surface tab especially Iray are lacking. I'm keeping (all) models UV'd in way that using shaders should be no problem. I'll include a generic texture with both 3Delight and Iray settings for everyone. I don't have Poser so this will be DS only. I tried to keep (all) models as low poly as I could. As I near the finish line I need to know, are there any request? Like more hair strands, extra hair strands that are finer? If this hair is good enough I'll leave it as is and begin addeing movement morphs.
Are there ane other request to any of the other models before I start turning them into figures?
Today as I wait for feedback I will add mat zones to all the models. I might even make her a bra?
Nice, I can use my OOT hair shaders then...
More hair strands? I guess it's better not to make the hair too complex. More strands, more overlapping 'transparent' parts might not be the best thing, render time wise speaking.... Can't think of anything else. Looks quite complete to me with all the options you've mentioned!
Here is a look at the mat zones.
and new bra
I bought OOT hair because it's on sale and here is a test showing it's result
They have already cast an under-forty dude. Okay Geralt does not look his age in book!canon, and yet he's not described as "youthful-looking". Neither is he described as conventionally attractive.
That's basically the star of the show, and severely miscast already.
I'm not going to watch this - it's shaping up to be on the same level of disregarding the very essence of the original books as the Narnia movies were.
It just makes me sad.
What I mean is that you have to be Polish, or at least Eastern European in general, to understand the whole cultural context of pan Sapkowski's writing. As-is, this screen adaptation is sliding towards cultural appropriation.
DAZ forums have TOS, and politics is out, so if you want to delve on this further, it's best to take it to PMs.
Maybe rig the length instead of adding morphs? Or does the mesh not play nice with bones?
dont think i could accept a geralt if not has the original voice actor.
As said, I don't have Netflix, so it's not likely I'll be watching the show any time soon after release, but....... having been reading more of the various comments on other sites, both pro and con, I can't help having the feeling thaty Netflix is going the same route with the Witcher franchise as Disney did with Star Wars..... YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!
For a while I lived in Spain, an english speaking American abroad. I discovered quickly that most Spaniards tend to not speak much English. It hasn't been even available in the curriculim at schools until the 80s or 90s (they only had French, apparantly) so most adults have never taken a class in it. One consequence is that all that was that I had to learn Spanish very quickly.
But another was that a Spaniard told me once that he'd been to the movies and he was very upset. The actor who did the voice dubbing for Clint Eastwood had died, he did every one of Clint's movies and to Spaniards he was Clint Eastwood. But he died and Clint was still kicking so they needed to get a new voice actor. The guy they got sounded nothing like the prior one and they guy was like "I can never watch a Clint Eastwood movie again, he's jsut not the same anymore". You never think that these actors in the USA who have very distinct voiced have a completely different voice overseas and to them, that's his real voice. I didn't even know they used the same guy for every movie.
Yeah, that's a valid comparison, too.
Although even the Disney!Wars had Ray Park, so that's one redeeming bit, ya know.
I'd soooo cast Park as Geralt. Although he's of average height - but a lot of action stars are not exactly tall, so it's possible to "film around that", so to speak. He's got that Scottish accent though... but we could always use that English voice actor from the games! LOL
It's similar in Russia, too. Gets funny with TV shows because, for instance, we had the same guy as Jane in Mentalist and Castle in, well, Castle.
Well, here in The Netherlands we are used to the original sound/voices, as just about all foreign shows/movies are subtitled. Personally, I do prefer that.....
I'm still more or less 'laughing' at one of the comments I read elsewhere, apparently from one of the Netflix writers; (s)he didn't have a clou as to who Jaskier was ..... . Doesn't bode well to me..... (It had to be explained to him/her that it was Dandelion...)
Two side notes that may be amusing:
There's this map over here, which isn't 147% accurate (for one, cinema-grade movies and top TV shows have been fully dubbed in Russia since the late 90s), but it's interesting to note that average residents of the countries only using subtitles appear to speak English way better than those where movies are overdubbed.

Did you know that Jaskier means a different flower in Polish originally, not dandelion? It's "buttercup" in English, I think.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Jaskier_rozesłany._02.jpg
There was a funny story from the 90s how a translator into IIRC Spanish didn't like how "buttercup" sounds in his language either, so he used another yellow flower, marigold. And a few stories later, Triss appears! So he gave her a last name that sounds like the original "buttercup" =)
You mean you used those presets coming with DS? Since they're shared by all DS installs in the world, I'd say using them is legit; you won't even need to copy out any of those textures because they are already included with DS.
Then you should be fine, especially if you used your own map. You won't need to package the MDL code or anything, you'd just be saving out a preset, like for any other shader/material.
Yep, I had read that before; also mentioned that apart from the 'buttercup' translation not sounding to good, 'Dandelion' also sounds a bit like 'Dandy', which Jaskier could be considered of being one....
Time to see if I can get a scene setup; got a little idea for one with Geralt, Triss an Adda, can use a stand-in for the scene setup..... (It's not uncommon for me that there's quite some time with translating an idea to a scene....... )
Thank you both for the feed back! and glaseye I think your safe to start building a scene, I'm almost finished. Spent the last four hours cleaning up face morph and working on a body morph. I've got to clean up the dress and bra mesh a bit to fit the Adda morph, fiddle with the surfaces tab a bit more and it's ready to go. While you all wait, here is the hair showng a few morphs, all morphs mix and match well together, and you can see the hair material zones. All morphs have mirrors. I might do a messy morph left, right, and back.
He definitely is =)
king radovid?
https://www.daz3d.com/medieval-crown-for-genesis-8-male
Yep, I'd say the character has some resemblances to the game Radovid (can't tell for the Radovid in the books). The crown doesn't look like the game's one though (and I don't think it is modeled after the W3 game).
I think I'm done.I want to hang on to this about another week and make suere everything is working correctly.
Being new to Iray I'm trying things in the surfaces tab to see what happens, this was cool, it's not hair, more like a gost type shader. Now I'm feeling some type of ghost character for my next project. Any request? I'll make you all a witcher ghost if you want. Maybe this?

PS
If you all want that ghostly white hair as an alt I can include it and call it Striga white.
Take the time you need..... . It's up to you what you wanna include of course, but I'm always curious about shader settings. So even if I wouldn't use it for the hair, I might still learn something from it.....
noon wraith? moon wraith?
noonwraiths and nightwraiths....
i have absolutely no memory of murky waters in w1
Almost there. Spent what time I had this weekend on surfaces, I'm happy with everything. The only thing, there is something wrong with the hand pose, I'll have to remake and resave it out, not sure what hapend so I'm just going to remake it to make sure it's okay. I'm going to make the glass jar/bottle thing and put the moonwraith and nightwraith shimmering dust in there and include it with all this.
