Yeah, you can post em here. Actually, I just saw your answers from your previous post.
Answers can be posted in the thread, because it doesn't guarantee they are correct (should people copy) Ill give some time to let everyone get their answers in... close the round, and announce the winner (along with the answers)
Too hard eh? lol erm... I tried to keep it easy and googable. All the answers can be searched within a couple seconds.
But I know there are some Egypt nerds, like me, among us. I used to do these trivia games a lot actually lol
Really ? Oh well, I guess I'm not good enough at googling then, though I must say I didn't even try, here. OK, gonna try, just for fun, out of curiosity :) , should be ready in 2 days hehe.
@ jakiblue : That's a very fair way to do, I must say, congrats for that ;-)
Yeah, thats why there are 10 questions... since people can google, it just makes it a game of speed.
Also, spelling doesn't count in this case. Kemetic is difficult, so I won't fault anyone for spelling.
I'll post them in the thread next time, then. I confess I still can't get the temple one. It has me stumped though I feel I should remember this.
lol yeah, Im not sure if that is common knowledge or not. Its my fave temple... if I ever get to go to Egypt, its my first stop. Because you can literally walk thru ancient Egyptian history there.

It was built on the island of Pharos
8: Its a temple that contains something from every Pharaoh that ever ruled... name the temple

lol yeah, Im not sure if that is common knowledge or not. Its my fave temple... if I ever get to go to Egypt, its my first stop. Because you can literally walk thru ancient Egyptian history there.
I can't wait to find out where it is, then. It's been a long while since I've really done anything related to Egypt, but I've always had a fondness for the mythology.
K gonna announce winner in a little bit. Now's your last chance to get your answers in, then we'll start round two.
what?? i'm gonna have to come up with MORE answers???
jeez louise woman, you have no mercy!!!
LOL yah, but your answers are so entertaining

And dont worry, Ill give plenty of opportunity for others to win a prize. Honestly, when it comes to Egypt, I could do this all day lol
Ok next round is closed. But a new round is coming shortly.
The winner of this round is Agent_Unawares woot woot! :throws confetti: you can PM me with your choice (but I keep strange hours, so I will have to send it later today after I get up)
And here is the answer sheet....
1: It is an asteroid, named for a giant chaotic snake - name it - Apophis (as he was called in Greek) Apep is also acceptable
2: During the 80 year war, Horus, angerered at his mother Isis, ripped off her head. What did Thoth replace it with? - The head of a cow
3: A scarabeus (khepera) is a funerary amulet. What lone stone would make it be used as such, because it represents the sky, and therefore afterlife? - Lapis Lazuli... it is always used in funerary ornamentation. Faience is also acceptable, as it was made from crushed Lapis (among other gemstones)
There is a little confusion here, as there is a heart scarab thats made from a green stone (most likely Jasper or Chrysoprase) But Lapis was used more widely in funerary preparations, death masks, et al.
4: It is salt of the Earth, and was used in mummification - whats it called? - Natron
5: During the process of mummification, the deceased would be soaked in herbs, the brains would be removed from the nasal passage and the body would be cut from neck to groin. The organs would then be removed and placed in what? Bonus points if you can name the gods associated with this thing. Canopic Jars which held the organs of the dead (the liver, the lungs, the intestines and stomach) as the Egyptians believed they would need these 4 organs in the afterlife. The heart was also saved to be weighed against the feather of Ma'at, and the rest was discarded. They were designed in the likeness of the 4 sons of Horus: Duamutef, Hapi, Imseti and Qebehsenuef
6: What does the phrase Ankh Udja Seneb mean? Life, Prosperity, Health, or Long live the King is also acceptable
7: What do the 3 pyramids of Giza align with in the sky? And the Sphinx?? Giza aligns with the 3 stars that make up Orion's belt (thought to be Osiris in the afterlife) The Sphinx aligns with the constellation Leo during the vernal equinox. Sun rising is also acceptable, as it faces East.
8: What dynasty did Cleopatra reign as Queen? I don't want the number tho, I want the name - Ptolemaic Dynasty
9: Who succeeded the throne after Akenaten's death? Oh and, I don't mean Tutankhamen... there was a regent who ruled just after, one whom was thought to be Nefertiti disguised. Smenkhkare. Neferneferuaten is technically acceptable, since Smekhkare did go by that name... but so did Nefertiti, hence why people speculate it was her posing as Pharaoh.
10: What does ii-wy em hotep mean? Welcome in peace
Egyptian Trivia - Round 3: Level, Holy crap thats hard
These are not as googleable (a couple are, a couple arent lol) but for fun, lets see how you do lol I will make the next round easier again.
1: "Ahmose em hebeny nut" translate it -
2: Translate Tutankhamun -
3: What is udjat? And what common symbol is descended from it?
4: What was found buried under Khufu's pyramid?
5: What symbol is a sun with many rays extending downward from it, and sometimes with hands at the ends?
(you can tell what dynasty I favor by how many times this comes up lol)
6: What is Kemet, and what does it mean in English?
7: Who was the only mortal to ever gain divine status? And why was this person revered as such?
8: What symbol represents spontaneous creation and rebirth? And why?
9: What was the heart weighed against, and to prove what?
10: What is Deshret and Hedjet? And what do they represent?
1: “Ahmose em hebeny nut” translate it -
I would propose "Ahmose with the ebony Nut goddess"...?!
2: Translate Tutankhamun -
Living image of Amon
3: What is udjat? And what common symbol is descended from it?
A symbol with the shape of an eye (the eye of Horus).
4: What was found buried under Khufu’s pyramid?
A ship
5: What symbol is a sun with many rays extending downward from it, and sometimes with hands at the ends?
(you can tell what dynasty I favor by how many times this comes up lol)
Aten symbol, XVIII dinasty
6: What is Kemet, and what does it mean in English?
Egypt
7: Who was the only mortal to ever gain divine status? And why was this person revered as such?
Imhotep. Revered as the frist architect as well as a doctor.
8: What symbol represents spontaneous creation and rebirth? And why?
The scarab, because of their eggs are buried on the ground and when the young scarabs born they appear from the soil as if they were spontaneously born;
9: What was the heart weighed against to prove a soul’s worthiness in the afterlife?
A feather
10: What is Deshret and Hedjet? And what do they represent?
The two crowns of the pharaoh. They represent the Upper and Lower Egypt
1: “Ahmose em hebeny nut” translate it -
"Ahmose in the favor of ebony Nut"
2: Translate Tutankhamun -
"living image of Amun"; his name was originally Tutankhaten, "living image of Aten," but was changed for political reasons as the priests of Memphis regained control after Akhenaten's heretical reign.
3: What is udjat? And what common symbol is descended from it?
The eye of Horus (or Ra).
4: What was found buried under Khufu’s pyramid?
Three ships
5: What symbol is a sun with many rays extending downward from it, and sometimes with hands at the ends?
(you can tell what dynasty I favor by how many times this comes up lol)
Aten
6: What is Kemet, and what does it mean in English?
Kemet was the native name for Egypt, it means black
7: Who was the only mortal to ever gain divine status? And why was this person revered as such?
Imhotep, after merging with Thoth. One might also make a case for Nefertary, enshrined at Abu Simbel.
8: What symbol represents spontaneous creation and rebirth? And why?
The scarab, because it seemed to spontaneously appear out of the dung.
9: What was the heart weighed against, and to prove what?
The feather of truth, to prove the innocence of the dead so that they may pass into the afterlife.
10: What is Deshret and Hedjet? And what do they represent?
The Deshret was the Red Crown of Lower (Northern) Egypt; the Hedjet was the White Crown of Upper (Southern) Egypt. They were joined together to symbolize the unification of the Two Kingdoms as the Double Crown of Egypt.
Hurray! This was an exciting surprise to come back to. I'll hold off on this round [maybe, I might try my hand at working out the translations for the phrases], but I'd still like to touch on this question all the same.
6: What is Kemet, and what does it mean in English? It's Egypt. The term can be translated as 'black,' but it's in reference to the fertile soil after the Nile flooding. So 'dark rich earth' more than 'black' in this context.
Hey all, just checking in and wanted to let you know Ive sent your prizes via PM. Also, this round will be closed soon, so get your answers submitted.
Just got mine, thanks again for such an original contest :) , and congrats to Agent_Unawares !
