Yes, you are correct. Looking into it further, I determined it's the texture product that is applying materials to the mesh, where the material options from the original are not.
I've taken Edward out for a brief spin yesterday - haven't yet played with him or the characters in the pro bundle in detail, but I made this (which is a showcase of the Scene Optimizer as much as of Edward):
It's Edward, the Southern Noble outfit, and Odin Hair (background a DM set from the other place).
Almost outside my comfort zone with the postwork... Lilith 7, Rocker Outfit for G3F, Nydo Hair, SY Rigged Speedy Smoke, IG Iray Stage Lighting, Rock On Poses (original on the right).
I like it! But then again, I'm a huge fan of postwork lol. What program are you using for your postwork?
Thanks!
Photoshop - after some attempts with contrast etc, I ended up using one of the HDR Toning settings
One other thing you can try is to play with the mode settings. You can get some really interesting things going on. I usually just go straight down the list although I admit to using multiply, screen, overlay and soft light the most.
There's so much stuff in Photoshop... and I know I don't even use half.
Me neither lol. I'm trying to learn a little bit at a time but the modes are a super easy way to change things up a bit. And they are right there above your stack of layers so they are easy to find.
So my cart now has six items. A 50¢ item for the 4th dropped the price way down, so I've added a couple more. Price is up to $4.88… Before I check out, got any more recommendations, @Novica? (Or anyone else...?)
I did this for the newly purchased content, and even some of the stuff I bought when Daz was deeply discounting RDNA items. It really made it easy to find things. Only three folders in the runtime for that library. Yay! Thank you for the suggestion.
@Nath, interesting effects. Like Sonja, I'm partial to blending modes for layers. But now I'm thinking, I really need to check out the HDR Toning settings.
I've been using Photoshop since 1995, I think, and version 4.0. I bought the CS6 Master Collection when it came out, (and was really upset with the new subscription format as I'd spent a small fortune putting myself into a position to upgrade every year,) so that's what I'm still using. And there are so many features I've never learned to use. The program is so robust, I doubt if any one person is an expert on all features, even at Adobe. I've noticed, anyway, that the Adobe videos are not all done by the same expert! (At least, that's what I keep telling myself, so I don't feel bad there are features in Photoshop that I don't know how to use!)
In case anyone else has been looking for a poet shirt that fits a male character, I found one by Lully at Rendo for G8F that I used on Vincent. I did add a belt to cover up the bare midriff. It is dforce compliant but I did not apply dforce.
Hah! I was looking at that shirt yesterday on Rendo. I really like it on Vincent!
Trish
Thanks @stormlyght - If you want to see it on a female character, let me know and I'm happy to do a test render.
Oh! Yes, if you have time, I'd like to see it on a female character.
Trish
@nath The postwork looks like fun and I like the vibrancy of the colors in contrast to the darker sections. And thanks for showing Edward! He looks quite confident. I've heard good things about the scene optimizer from folks posting on the thread.
@ladair I basically just bought the ones I had listed here on the thread, then looking I see Bast stuff in the sale and I believe you already have Bast for Genesis 3 so don't need any Bast stuff, if they have any of the Modern Muses in the sale, I remember getting all those when I first started shopping Generation 4. I just did search, and now several are PC+. Looks like these are marked down so they're probably in that sale. You probably already have them though.

Wow, the forum links on Amalie pages goes back to my THREAD ONE on page 50. Been a long time since we discussed those Muses! And further down on that page, Scott L's render. Wow, that is way back in 2013.
@worldsedge Nice shirt, love the billowy look of it.
I absolutely LOVE that shirt by Lully! I've got a couple of images of it on a female character I can put up.
Two pics I did using Lully's shirt. Keep in mind this is actually my first time using dforce - it was VERY easy to use. Click to see larger.
I was about to render some for @stormlyght but if you (@jakiblue) have some already rendered, please go ahead. As I was posing, I found that the extra material around the wrists get mixed up when both hands are close to each other etc. I know it is because I am not yet using dforce, but would be interested in seeing it with dforce applied.
We must have posted at the same time :) Just above I posted the two pics. I used dforce and as i mentioned, it was actually the first time I've used it (other than a first test with the outfit included with DS just to see what it's all about). The shirt has some really great added options too - bumps and metalicity (sp?), and for the ruffles. Cos I'm a newb at dforce, I didn't push it too hard - I'm always terrified stuff will explode, that scares the heck out of me when it happens. LOL. I'm SO glad there is no noise accompying it. :)
Thank you for posting. They both turned out well, which is reassuring, because I'm also not super comfortable with using dForce.
Tricia
Believe me, neither am I LOL. So I was really happy they worked first time no problems.
As always, really great renders @jakiblue. Did you force the hair. It looks awesome.
No - I wouldn't have the first clue how to dforce hair LOL. It's AprilYSH's Xelene Hair, using one of the preset shapes, that I tweaked a fraction more.
I think I've been using Photoshop and the rest since the early 2000s at work, so I'm most at home in boring stuff like getting things ready for printing, and for myself photo editing. As much as I dislike the subscription format, I do have the subscription version, but I'm lucky to work at a university so we get a ridiculously good deal (better than the standard education license). I wish I had invested in CS6 before they went subscription, but if I want to work from home occasionally I need a recent InDesign version.
And yeah, it's impossible to know all of Photoshop.
Hmm March madness has started. Remember when it was fun? You could get some really good bargains if you shopped wisely. Now...it's just another daz sale. I guess for those people who like to buy big gift certs it might be good...but I've seen better than 50% on other daz sales. Kinda dull.
And i'm still trying to find something to spend my Feb $6 coupon on LOL
My first March Madness, 50% looked really good. I didn't know any better! But then again, I bought something just before MM started and got a coupon good for 30% off everything in my cart for one order. I'd just won store credit from the Social Media contest, so waited until one of the storewide at 50% off weekends and went a little crazy...
I picked up only the bonus item today. Of the other items that I looked at twice, Shangrila is cute but not distinctive enough with all the characters I already have. I got close enough with a quick try with Mackenzie wearing Monique 8's skin - other characters and some dial spin may give an even more alike result. The Curly top hair is nice, but near enough to Terran hair for me as well, no need for both in my runtime.
what's the "bonus item"?
The Maintenance Room.
"Bonus Madness Offer
For customers who have purchased a new release in the last 3 days
Get 70% OFF this all-new March Madness item
Offer valid for intended recipient only. Discount applies in shopping cart."
It went down to $2.02 without anything else in the cart, so that was good enough for me.
