For what it's worth, they just dropped the price of the Skinworks tattoo set, which is shown in use in at least one of the Charlotte promos -- it's now a Daz Originals item, which I don't think it was before. If you purchased the set before, you may now have an orange banner and a message saying that the difference between the two prices has been refunded to you as store credit, depending on whether or not you're a PC member and your level of loyalty discount, if any.
That goes down to the base G8 figure, I think. To my eye they seem to be a bit more realistically proportioned than G3F/M were, slightly stockier with larger heads, and shorter legs... which may be why so many of the G8 figures that I've liked have gone for a younger look. That said... I generally find the G3s to be more aesthetically pleasing.
No. Base G8 has almost exactly the same shape as base G3.
Mareike already in trouble!
I have to disagree. Charlotte's skin is a pretty golden color and can be made darker with different skin settings and her face looks easily morphable into a variety of ethnicities. I think she looks like the perfect blend of a young multi-cultural woman! I admit she doesn't look THAT different from a typical pretty girl created by top PAs, but I'm glad they went for pretty this time. The other bases, besides Monique and Josie, were so unattractive, I never would have purchased them unless they came with a bundle and extra perks from previous bundles. I think Charlotte's promos all look different, depending on who is rendering them and she seems very versatile! The whole point of any Daz character, really, is that they are morphable! I rarely use any character out of the box, the whole fun is creating your own character, just using these as bases for your own creations.... I think she is a great addition to the gene pool and it could be interesting to mix her with Monique!![laugh laugh](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/teeth_smile.png)
I think the glasses are retextured from the Vera Spade Glasses aka BC Glasses from the Mystery Solver Outfit for Genesis 3 Females. I have them glasses & they don't have a tortoise shell material. For that you need the texture add-on: https://www.daz3d.com/mystery-solver-outfit-textures
Some of them do, some of them don't, but if you hate the jawline of a character feel free to change it......a great tool is:
https://www.daz3d.com/rarestone-s-face-morphs-collection-for-genesis-8-female
Wich has no less then 15 dedicated jaw morphs......usually working in both directions.....it needs experimentation though.....but that never hurt anyone :)!
Greets, ArtisanS
Aisling
Not sure if that is sarcasm? If not, surely we can still talk about what we'd like to see without being told in one way or another to "make it yourself"?
That said, I am working on getting more proficient so that I can make what I want. But even then, even if somehow I did become an awesome character creator, there's always going to be room to buy someone else's beautiful creations. I can't see myself ever not wanting Saiyaness's characters, for example.
Anyone else noticed that Aisling no brows texture does not work?
Hi. Aisling’s character loads with fibermesh eyebrows as well as the painted texture. You will want to hide or delete the eyebrows from the scene if you wish to remove those. The no-brows option removes only her painted brows.
I gave in. :) I think she's the best G8 character so far. Aisling, in particular. Nice work, Redz!
There are ethnic morph kits for all previous generations, not sure if there is for G8 yet, but I have no doubt there will be. And all skins for G3 work on G8 and there are a rainbow of skin colors you can find on various characters. Saianess has many. G8 is still new. I'm sure there will be lots to come!
@wonderland, couldn't agree with you more.
I thinks Charlotte is a doll!
Thank you very much for helping out in what I should have understood my self, I blame it on to little sleep![smiley smiley](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/regular_smile.png)
I don’t get it; why was my post removed for reasons of ‘accusations,’ when I just agreed that she looked like the Maya character in the Gemini outfit? I wasn’t accusing anyone of anything?
Me too, mate. Me too.
Because DAZ thinks pointing out similarities to existing properties is accusing them of wrongdoing. Wonder what it could be that's making them think that.
A quick use, that would have been way quicker had I not faffed about adding stuff as 'scenery'
She is a cross between Charlotte (c. 60%) and V8 HD (c. 33%), so of course I forgot to up the SubD ...
First G8F DAZ character that I actually like. Gonna buy this pro bundle.
You know, there are lots of white girls in the entire Daz store. But as far as the Daz Base Characters go, there is a fair amount of diversity. All you have to do is look down the major character list to find representatives of most ethnicities. Maybe you'd like to see more ethnic representatives from PAs. But, the base characters are pretty diverse. Also, I think that Marika is Latina and Aisling appears to be Eastern European.
Instead of white woman who, with some work, can maybe be made to look like a different ethnicity, I just wish we had more actual diversity, like a non-white woman who we can get to look more white if needed, rather than making white the base. Something like a golden skintone is something that can be done with non-"base" characters. IMHO, the "bases" should have more diversity. Once we get more diverse "base" characters, then I wouldn't mind some alternatives for white people, but ugh. I guess they'll come out with whatever they think sells, and based on the comments here, seems like a lot of people like more white characters. I just have to vote with my wallet.
It's not that there is no diversity, but I out of the first five G8 female releases, do four of them need to be white? And even with G3 bases, most of them were white.
Just finished watching MTV's latest season of Are You the One (not counting the reunion shows). That cast is more or less what I'd like to see reflected in the characters here (well, could use more Asians, but I'm biased).
You should buy the Kalea Pro Bundle, it's a really recent product: https://www.daz3d.com/kalea-7-pro-bundle.
https://www.daz3d.com/kimo-7-pro-bundle for men is available too. Both based on Polynesian and Aborigines ethnicities and quite nice clothing. There is not a need for wishful thinking.
I'm sure that Daz has a lot of data to back up why they put out so many of them -sadly I think that "pretty, thin, white, young female" is what likely sells the most and makes them the most money.
Yup, most likely. I've just been doing my part and buying up POCs, hoping that will encourage more POCs.
Skin color is just shaders. No different than adding a tattoo. There are products that alow us to adjust features such as eyes, lips and bone/face structure so we can make any model any race we want and add a shader to the skin tone. The base Genesis 1 thru current are what these new 'morphs' Mei, Monique, Charlotte etc are created from. It's not about color. The models are bald and naked. Buy the hair, buy the outfit etc.
Indeed. Not to seem like I'm ignoring the frustration of those that want other ethic groups, but the tools exist for us to do it ourselves if DAZ doesn't do it, or doesn't do it as fast as we would like them to. I'm not talking strictly about stuff like Hexagon, but the morph sets that exist that do represent the missing peoples. I know that SickleYield has done face morphs for various areas for G8, so what's mainly missing is textures and proper material presets.
