FYI, Opal shaders from Gemologica make some EXCELLENT Astral Plane-style effects.

That's my purchase next week, along with the Genesis creature morphs package! (grin)

    Great idea!

Word up, Wooly! Gemologica is 30% off as part of the PA 30-40-50 sale running today. Marieah's store may not be sale on tomorrow.
If all you buy today is that, it's still $8.99 off regular price. Put it your cart and go to Shopping Cart (not Check Out) the discount should show up there, Maybe you can better afford it today than next week? : )

    ETA: Oops, link. :D
    http://www.daz3d.com/marieah?limit=60

Thanks, but I'm out of content money! (cry cry cry)

I'll pay full price but it looks worth it!

Well, crap! My computer died this afternoon. I haven't been able to get it to start up again. I had a blue screen, and it was doing a memory dump. It was taking forever and I didn't need anything that was open saved, so I cut the power. There was a lot of dust over the inflow fans...maybe I killed it. Last time this happened it was the video card. Oh, no, it was the motherboard, but that had a known issue and was the second one. This was a different motherboard.

I'm sick of this. first my wide format Epson printer died, then my mouse, now this. And the shop I go to was already closed and I don't think they're open on Sunday. I really can't afford this. But my development stuff is on there...in fact everything important is on that computer's hard drives. If this keeps up I might give up on computers altogether.

I'm using my old laptop to get on here right now.

    Dana

Oh geez man, that sucks! (frown frown frown) I hope you can get things working again!

My computer is too darn slow!!! (angry face)

I'm just rendering 3 primitives with complex shaders, one HDRi light dome, a raytraced shadow distant light, and a stupid textured plane for the ground and it's sssssslllooowww - looks like it could be an hour before it's done! (cry face) And the laptop is so loaded that I'm getting pauses just typing into the browser! AArrgghhhh!!!

Definitely time to save up for a quad-core i7 system if I'm going to make a serious push into Webcomics, I think. Otherwise, I'll have to learn to draw.. OH NO NOT THAT!!

Well, I do have Anime Studio Pro, so I guess I could spend a couple of years learning to draw.. yecch. (grumble face)

It's probably the transparency and reflection that's doing it.. oh well, le sigh.

*edit* The Undead Fiend was on sale.. had to get it while it was cheap, I need it for my Webcomic.. credit card now low. (frownie)

...heck, at least you have better net connectivity than I do.

I know, I should be happy with what I have, but.. this is a complaint thread! (chortle)

Archaeopteryx? Is still raptor-y to me ^^

Leetle floofy dino is the only object in this scene! No lights either - the HDR image is supplying all that and the reflections (Which look real nice on her cornea :3)

Indigo again - this time only 35 minute render time.

Very cool! Indigo produces some excellent renders.

Good morning, finally caught up (heh).

Coffee, hot dogs, and renders for breakfast.. still playing with fancy shaders. Maybe this afternoon I'll render something more "normal", like a giant chicken chasing Vicky or Mike. (hee hee)

Rained this morning! A real surprise, it was supposed to be dry and hot - now it's going to be humid and hot. I'm not sure that's an improvement,,,! Hot hot hot all next week, in the 90s. Time to buy a new cowboy hat!

I'm getting used to 3Delight finally, it's a real re-learning process for me. I'm happy with the results and I think DS 4.6 will work out well for Webcomic creation. I need to dink around more with Genesis as I suspect all my characters will be Genesis-based, for ease of fitting clothes and character creation.

Attached: primitives in glass and gummy. Render time: 1 hour 15 minutes on my i5 system.

It is cool weather. I deem 45F freezing here in Texas. lol

I was ready to go to bed at 5:30 pm.

The dog I adopted a week ago ran off twice already.

Non-complaint: I still have coffee and cigarettes.

Well, thank heavens you have something good! (smile)

    Urgh about the dog, th9ugh...

I really love her to death already, but I'm tired of running through the apartments and up and down Parkfield in my nightwear. The family says I have to get rid of her, but all the shelters are full. Anybody want a German Shorthair Pointer?

It's likely they could at the very least glide, and is assumed they can fly - but the latter hasn't been proven. Either the guy in the back is gliding, or it's artistic license flying =3

Either way, it's set in one of my fictional worlds (With the draggies and stuff) so even if they couldn't fly it doesn't matter XD

THat is so sad, such a brave man, what he did when he knew he had cancer. I read about that at the time, and seems it was not to be. He didn't last to see his last book on the shelves of the bookstores.

If it's the "oscar mike gulf, sierra oscar sierra" part, you take the first letter of each word. SO oscar mike gulf=OMG, sierra oscar sierra=SOS. : )

Render, render, render. Turned shading rate to 1.00 instead of 0.50 and ray bounces to 2, weird artifacting in reflections. Ray bounce to 3, better but no cigar. Having to crank it to 4 now, to see if the weirdness abates.. but I have several layers of translucent objects so it's a renderers nightmare (heh)!

Spent the last 2 hours filling out amended tax forms for 2010/2011/2012, the IRS ends up owing me come cash how! Heh heh, that'll teach 'em to complain about math errors! I'll FAX them in tomorrow and can get on with the next thing, which is getting copies of all my canceled support payment checks so I can get by deductions re-instated.

And having completed laundry and tax forms, BY THE GODSI'M HAVING SOME BEER!!!! (party face)

Turn Shading Rate down again - reflections are about the first thing to suffer when you turn it up (specular highlights also show its effect, by spreading, but they don't actually degrade the way reflections do).

The Japanese word for 'Dinosaur' contains the characters 'Fear' and 'Dragon'... I never knew that before o3o

I dunno if the forum supports Japanese characters or not, nor if it's even allowed (Other non-standard characters have been entered before with no problem but I don't want to take any risks ^^; ), but the big red kanji on the left is 'Fear' and the one on the right is 'Dragon' :O
