The Laura morph created by GenX is a scaled clone. This means, it has the shape of Laura, but it is scaled for the standard Genesis (2) size. When you dial the Laura morph to 1, you will see that Genesis is scaled to 78.9%. This way, the morph works a bit better with bending.
A clone for auto-fit must be scaled to the original figure size, so you have to create your own clone morph with the correct scaling for this. (Should be easy to create, you can export the scaled Laura shape as an OBJ and then create a morph from this OBJ. Just remember to set mesh resolution level to Base before exporting the OBJ.)
If I can ever find a tutorial on how to do it that references the current version of DS 4.6, I'll do that. Unfortunately, everything I've found seems to reference tabs and panels that don't seem to be in the same place anymore.
For Cybersox13
I made a few autofit clones for Genesis and G2F using this tutorial : Make a V4 Clone for Dawn (A tutorial by 3dOutlaw) .
Hope this helps.
...OK I know this was discussed earlier in the thread, however for me the Daz site is running super slow right now and to have to back pedal through 55 pages will take a good part of the day.
I have GenerationX2 ready to install but not done so yet. As I vaguely remember, there is some trick to getting it to install correctly. The original version I have was installed from the old .exe installer as at the time, my net connection was too unstable to use the DIM. So, I am wondering should I manually run the uninstaller for that first so that there is no possibility of conflict with some components of the older install not being removed properly?
Also, do I need to reinstall the legacy figure add ons to get the updated versions as well?
There is also a question that has been nagging me. Once installed, will this allow me to transfer morphs to G2F/G2M from Genesis1/Gen4/Gen3 or do I also need the G2 for GenerationX2 add on?
Uninstalling the old version before is a good idea.
Legacy figure addons have been updated for GenX2 - redownload and reinstall
For transferring morphs to G2 you need the GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 2
Greetings,
Im in need of instructions on how to transfer just a head morph from a Genesis character to G2 Female. can someone point me in the right direction on how to make that happen. Thanks in advance.
...thank you.
...ach, another 10$ I don't have. So basically I really don't get any advantage using the update over the original version unless I also get the add on. I thought the G2F Add On was to transfer G2F morphs to Genesis 1, just like all the Legacy Figure add on packs.
If you have a single morph that spans the body and head, this is difficult. I don't know if there is a simple way to split a morph to body/head inside of DS.
If you have a dialed character (or a character with separate body/head morphs), all you have to do is to zero the body morphs before transfer. This can be done in several ways:
1. You apply the character to Genesis in the DS scene, go to "currently used" in the shaping tab, and set all morphs for the body to zero. (There may be morphs where the body morph affects the head as well. Usually, there is a head only morph with the same name that you can use instead then.) Save the character as a new shaping preset and use this in GenX.
2. You apply the character in GenX. Then, you highlight all non-head morphs and use "highlighted > set value to zero" from the context menu.
3. If you want to do this for several characters, you may create a zero pose that zeroes all body only morphs. This zero morph can be applied for both options above.
The advantage of doing this in the scene is that you see if a used morph actually affects the head when you zero it.
I will give it a try today. Thanks for the speedy reply!
Update: I did as you said and it worked just as I needed. Thanks again!
..OK, found the uninstallers however there appear to be two each for the main plugin and the H3/A3 figures (one .exe and one that says .dat). so a bit confused here.
The .dat is the data file used by the .exe
..OK thank you, It's just that I don't see it with the other content uninstallers so ti kind of threw me.
Morning all,
I've been looking at GenX2 this morning and was wondering about transferring morphs from Morphus, Boopsie, and Morphlet by Capsces. Now I can transfer the overall morphs no problem using the inj pose provided. What I can't figure out is how to transfer the presets.
For instance, under each one are presets for the faces. How do I get those transferred over? I add the overall inj pose and then I go to the Faces folder and try to add one of the presets but it doesn't show up. I was hoping to create a single dial for each of the face and body poses.
Hope I explained that right and thanks in advance for any help.
What I do is Load relevant figure into GenX drag over the Morphus inj (for example), drag over the preset I want, from Select choose Transfer:On for All Non zero Values and hit transfer.
Thank you Scorpio. That worked perfectly!
:-)
Alternatives are:
1. Using the "presets" tab to translate the presets to work with the already transferred morphs.
2. Using the "Create controller" mode to create a dial that controls the already transferred morphs (instead of creating a new morph).
Does this mean you need to do the transfer in 2 steps...
1. Tranfer the morph inj for the character
2. transfer the presets for the character
or can you tranfer all at once using the transfer tab and preset tab at the same time?
Also when you use create controller do you do that after you transfer the morphs?
I ask because I have tried several different combos of steps and don't get the results I thought I should or I get no result at all...
This are two alternate methods:
1 creates a preset file and allows batch conversion. The preset file has to be applied to the figure to set the expression.
2 creates a dial that always loads with the figure. Because it is a dial, you can also set it to other values than 1 to apply the expression only to some degree, and you can mix it with other expression controllers that are based on the same morphs.
Both methods require that the individual morphs are transferred as well. You should get a warning if some are missing. You can still transfer them after creating the preset or controller. Finally, you can use the modes "selected morphs (with preset)" or "selected morphs (with controller)" to create a preset or controller based on the actual morph values, and additionally transfer the individual morphs used by the expression.
Thank you for the answer, I will try again and see what I end up with :)
...so one more question, what can I exactly transfer from/to with just the update?
The same things you could before: from 4th Gen to Genesis 1 with nothing extra, from 3rd Gen to Genesis 1 with the 3rd Gen add-ons. To transfer to Genesis2 (or from Genesis 2 to Genesis 1) you need the Genesis 2 add-on.
I'm not sure if this is the right thread for this but I just bought GenX AddOn Gen3 for V3 and M3 but cannot seem to get it to work. I have the clone shapes so gen3 clothing will fit Genesis now but when I try to add gen3 morphs or mats to genesis nothing happens. Am I missing something? I thought I PMd Dimension3D but I don't see a message in my sent box.
Okay this may seem like a dumb question but do you have the GenX program???With that and the add-on you will be able to "Transfer" the morphs from gen3 V3 or M3 toGenesis ,there are more steps then auto-fit ,the textures won't be usable unless you have Texture Converter,to convert the textures to V4 or M4,then they could be used on Genesis. I hope that's a bit of help.
No I don't. I'm not sure what you mean specifically. Is it a Dimension3D product you are referring to? http://www.daz3d.com/dimension3d The GenX AddOn didn't list anything as a requirement other than the M3 & V3 clone shapes which I purchased at the same time.
It's true that the Required Products section only mentions the V3 & M3 shapes for Genesis, but the first sentence in the description says "This add-on extends Genesis Generation X2 (GenX2) to the world of the generation 3 figures." Under What's Included & Features it says "Add-on for Genesis Generation X and X2 Extends GenX to support the following figures: Victoria 3 Michael 3". It probably should make that clear in the Required Products section, but I've found it helps to always read everything on a product page very carefully; often the information you need is scattered about and sometimes still isn't very clear.

Total agreement with riftwitch ,you need the GenX2 to transfer the morphs from gen3 to Genesis or to Genesis2, http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2 ,but it is so worth it if you have alot of the gen3 characters .
I'm sorry if this was answered already - Is it possible to transfer the M4 Creature Creator morphs to Genesis 2 with this add-on? Or can we only transfer the Genesis creature morphs?
I've been trying some M4 morph injections (both bought from DAZ and custom ones) and they just don't seem to load. None of the M4 morph injections I try to drag and drop from the Content Library into the Gen X tab show up.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Any morphs for M4 should be transferrable to Genesis or Genesis 2 by GenX.
You first have to load the M4 figure from the content library into the GenX transfer tab, then most morph injections should work by drag'n'drop.
There are few cases (like binary morph injections), that are not supported by GenX. In such a case, you can load the figure into DS (or Poser) and inject the morphs there. Then, you save the figure as a new CR2 (in DS with CR2 exporter) and use that figure with already injected morphs with GenX.
Thank you for the clarification!
Just to be sure everything is working as it should, I noticed that when I drag and drop Michael 4 from my content library into the Gen X transfer tab, his base head and his eye morphs show up automatically. Is this normal?
When loading a Poser figure in GenX, it shows all morphs that are included in that figure, i.e. those that are also availble when loading it in Poser or DS (without Power Loader). For M4, this are the morphs from the base figure, mainly the expression morphs.
