Hmmph.. nice lady I know from chat online for a couple of years says come visit her in Vancouver BC. :bug:

Bad news.. because I have a Thing(tm) for Canadian ladies.. :red: :red:

Time to get my passport updated, I guess. Le Sigh. But Vancouver is such a lovely city! :cheese:

    Next year! :)

...lovely city, been there several times, however not the best place for people like me who get regular house calls from uncle arthur to settle in though. I need more dry and warm.

So far here we've been having a lovely summer this year for once. Not too terribly hot with temps over the last few weeks almost spot on normal for this time of year. May dodge the usual August heatwave as the next ten days should be pretty much at average. Hasn't rained in any significant amount here since the last part of June.

I will visit, because of a lot of past history that will bore you and everyone ELSE mindless Maybe I will meet my loves sister who still lives in Vancouver, and I still have her email, but.. I feel weird about that, so I probably won't. :-S :-S

If I work hard enough, I'll stop caring! :cheese: That one thought sustains me through all this dreck.. that I can finally stop caring.

The bus was late so I took the time to shop - got a six of Stella Artois, egg beaters, pecanwood smoked sausage and mesquite smoked sausage! :cheese: Don't have to worry about food for a llloonnggg timr.. tortillas too so I can make chorizo breakfast tacos this weekend! :cheese:

Now backing up content.. I'll install it this weekend when I feel more like doing something meaningful and not like goofing off. :P

*sucks down a Stella while watching kielbasa cook*

...Egg Beaters are what allow me to use eggs again as they had an all egg white version. It's the yolks that are a no no for me. I can now enjoy omelets and egg batter toast again. Now you got me hungry for my special Wisconsin brekkie skillet sizzle which uses kilebasa, southern style hash potatoes, green pepper, onion, egg whites and cheese.

I'm stuffed with smoked kielbasa in a tortilla with chipotle mayo.. and that makes me hungry!!!!! :ahhh:

    Supertasty!
You folks get to eat ALL the good stuff, I'm so wanting Off Renal diet... bland, bland, blandy... balh....

    Today's not-really-a-complaint-but-slightly-creeped-out:

I got a newsletter from one of the 3d sites I follow, one of the bigger ones. I saw "pick seven free models!" offer, clicked on the link, and was taken to Dreamlight's website. Okay, give them my e-mail address and they'll give me the goods. Hmm. Fiiiiine. I gave the address which is unique to the first site that originally sent me the freebie offer (nice ones, I must admit), and pop, up came the download links. I downloaded.

Couple of hours later I received mail from Dreamlight, using the e-mail address (remember, unique to that one site alone) I had given -- that's okay, I expected that to happen.

What I did NOT expect, was them peddling 3D Coat tutorials to me.

And now I got an e-mail where they are offering tutorials to that one new figure in town, which I downloaded from a different site, again with a different e-mail address, but addressed to the one I used to sign up.

I'm not complaining, per se. I acknowledged that they will send me e-mail, and they will probably have some sort of opt-out button on the mailing list if it gets annoying enough. It is their business model to offer services, and by gum, they are offering me a service, do I want it? (No, but thanks for offering.)

I'm just vaguely creeped out by cross-site cookies, Flash cookies, and information collation done behind the cyber curtain.

The reason why I keep different e-mail aliases (albeit one with a pattern) is so I can figure out if some site caves in and starts selling addresses to spammers/is cracked and I need to do something myself/e-mail bot goes nuts and starts spamming/etc so I can block the offending site.

I bought 3D Coat using a different account name, yet, bam, here is Dreamlight, noting my two most recent major downloads, and offering tutorials to me.

The future is creepy at times.

    But mostly awesome.

    Albeit a tiny bit creepy.

Thankfully, email addresses are very easy to make, and there are heaps of email services. I think I have 4 currently lol

While its scary that email addresses are sold so commonly between websites, whats most scary is when you start getting Spam text messages on your phone after registering an account with an on-line store. Privacy seems to be lacking for the future, and its not just the on-line world sadly.

Could just be coincidence, certainly on Dawn (I imagine a fair proportion of users have downloaded her). Dreamlight practises the adamantine sell.

Yeah, I just run my own e-mail server, and I don't feel like creating too many disposables. ;)

Just that 3D Coat ad is slightly harder to explain, considering how it is way less recognized than, say, ZBrush and less likely to interest an average DS user who is probably much happier with the light tutorials and other things. The latter ad just pushed the whole thing into "OMG I'm being creeped on" category.

I can't go to any website (except for their competitors) without seeing the DAZ3D advert.
I don't want my searching "tailored to my browsing history" - it's just stupid.

With Dreamlight ads they don't have to know what software you have. I've gotten the one for 3D Coat as well and I've never purchased it. I eventually took my email off their mailing list because he was worse than most of the spammers - I'd get 3 or 4 emails a day from him all offering to make me a great artist in 30 minutes or less.

Don't get me wrong some of his lighting tutorials are great but his sales pitch really puts me off.

If your browser supports DNT tag (Do Not Track, which is sent to a website before it sends anything back to you), AND the website actually honors it (hahahhahahahahaha, okay, some actually do), turn it on. It is one step on the way of less tracking.

    AH GAWD.

I just served dinner and dessert to my friends.

    Warm sammiches, with:
Nice, solid whole-grain wheat bread base
    Olive oil smeared on bread
    Gouda
Dried and cut basil and oregano
    Sun-dried tomatoes, cut to shreds
    Bacon, shredded
    Onion, diced
A mix of grated Swiss and Mozzarella
Thin slices of pepperoni on top of everything

    Dessert: home-made banana sorbet.

Man that felt GREAT -- not just to eat, but to cook.
