More for Genesis. Of these I only have Alruna currently, but I've used it a lot. Cavalier is in my wishlist.

    http://www.daz3d.com/alruna

    http://www.daz3d.com/caput-caseum

    http://www.daz3d.com/lord-general-for-genesis

    http://www.daz3d.com/desert-paladin-for-genesis

    http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-cavalier

Note that Valandar and Bobbie25 are ones to watch. There are some good full-body sci fi armors, too, but I would urge you to notice the Hellfish conversions from Xurge3d's store in that department if you get into that. These are for Genesis, so they are not "refitted male" anything.

I have a Heavy Armor for Genesis in my Renderosity store (two counting the Armor of Kharadh). They have gone over like lead balloons. Probably because they're plain in texture (I didn't have 3dCoat at that time and inlaid metal is still not my best thing). One day I will track down Valandar and steal his brain so I can do textures like his.

Meanwhile, to the OP, don't be a spoilsport. I hate most bikini armor, too (I much prefer scantily clad characters to be wearing things that look like they were thrown together from what was available in their environment), but I also have bought it and refitted it to males without the bra tops. :D

I agree about Hellfish Sickleyield. Love his full body armor and conversions. I own all but his latest, which I'm thinking of spending my coupon on.

Sadly, the coupon doesn't apply to Hellfish items (it's in the fine print) or I would, too.

    Oh man. Didn't notice that.

    Thanks for telling me. =-/

Murgatroyd, you miss the point of this type of armor/armour. The shin and forearm guards are used for blocking (or striking in the case of the shin guards,) that is it. The fighter who wears this is so fast that if she gets struck in any other area she feels she deserves to be cut (or worse.) She looks for ultimate flexibility for her natural strength, speed, and uses her body as a distraction to disarm her opponents. It is actually a very effective bit of armor on the right fighter. ;)

I do think at times it should open an Daz-Exotic store, where more mature and content can be sold.

I'm not particularly interested in skimpwear, outfits of this nature. It would be great for those who are interested to find what they need, and for others who are interested in family friendly content to find what they are looking for.

LOL, from my POV this whole site is G rated. I would very much like a mature DAZ oriented store with full promo images and more diverse content.

There are sites that deal with that sort of stuff.

So why doesn't DAZ hop on the bandwagon and open a DAZX store and forum in addition to the existing store & forum? They'd make a bundle and wouldn't have to pretend they are family friendly. It would probably make so much cash flow that they could even outsource it and hire an orgy of perverts to run it. Just as long as they keep a tight leash on them and whip them in to submission once in a while when they get too carried away with their work. There must be some corporate entity that sees $$ in this.

And the shift of forum members from the family friendly site to the fanny friendly site would ease the moderator's duties. It must be tiring whacking all the moles (i.e. TOS offenders) that pop up unexpectedly in the various threads.

They wouldn't even have to use the DAZ name they could hide under a pseudonym like we all do.

Hey, I'd join a DAZ Pervert Army. :D A DAZ adult store would be classier than the existing ones, would have good QA and a consistent level of quality, and most important to me personally, would not be either 90% Poser products or have a bunch of crud with "rape" in the name. We'd clean up.

Name three. Refitted male armour doesn't count.

This is a systemic problem. I wouldn't object nearly as much if the non-protective armours weren't the vast majority.

I wonder if anyone can name three people who want to do renders of women in practical armor.

Aside from magic it can be technology If your seeing it in a sci fi setting

For example, in the Japanese Dirty Pair sci fi novels the armor that Kei & Yuri were is micro thin and transparent, wiith a hemet and pack added they can become space suits. The silver shots and bikini top are the only parts that are visible. The English Dirty Pair comics don't mention this and none of the various Dirty Pair animated adaptation do either too if I recall correctly. The old Dirty Pair TV series had them in full body armor suits instead of the silver and transparent outfits in several episodes. Even though the transparent material is super tough. (The out fits are silver in the novels for both characters, the coolr scheme got changed for Yuri in the animated adaptions.)

See also this old Phil and Dixie strip in which D&D armor is discussed

Yeah. No. You have skimpy armor because you want to see more of the body. Trying to "explain it" is much more infuriating to those who dislike it on gender-fairness grounds than any plain admission of the real reason. Most of us are fine with nudity, it's the "No no, women and only women need to fight in this armor FOR PRACTICAL REASONS" nonsense that is infuriating. Have a universe where people just dress that way. Don't have a female character mouth some nonsense no woman has ever said about the Proud Warrior Tradition of the Boobilicious Tribe or "distraction" or "agility."

It's always possible to combine those skimpy armour with a second skin chainmail. Then it starts to look almost serious. But honestly I prefer SciFi and armours like these http://www.daz3d.com/sky-chaser

Hehehe, why pick one when you can do both? If it's a 'serious' and/or historic encounter, then out comes the protection - but if it's intended as a titillating pin-up, then I'll issue some suitably dodgy skimpmail.

Skimpwear was first universally popularised by the pulp writers of early 20th Century e.g. Robert E Howard and Edgar Rice Burroughs, but these were engineered scenarios to justify flashing the flesh e.g. slave/prisoner, priestess or damsel-in-distress...

...but you can 'thank' the Red Sonja comic for coming up with the original justification for skimpmail armour - fans and critics alike were asking for explanations, so the writers started having other characters comment on her attire so they could script responses around "not hampering her incredible agility/reflexes" and to use her flesh to distract male adversaries (example below).

Any time they tried giving Red Sonja more practical clothing, sales of the comic started to tank, so any changes to outfit only ever temporary depending on storyline - but when free to choose for herself, Sonja always returns to the mail bikini.

    The meaning of "armor"?
It's a type of jewelry that tribal princesses use to hold their wealth close to their bodies. Sometimes it's styled to resemble the gear so-called "civilized" people wear.
As for why those Roman guys wear so much of it that you can hardly see their skin, maybe they're just that much girlier than princesses. Who knows why Romans do what they do?

You can add me to the list!

Besides... Just because armor is practical doesn't mean it can't be sexy. With careful design it is possible to merge both worlds in a tasteful manner. It just takes a bit more work, which is one of the reasons I'm not participating much in the forums these days. Very busy. ;-)

Dressing up or covering up, if done right, can be just as or even 'more sexy' then dressing down.or uncovering. Personally, I'm a fan of both forms of attire when done artistically, with style, and a good design sense.

Like Herakleia said, you can combine it with a skinsuit or something a little more tasteful.

Behold! A skinsuit and select pieces of armour all lovingly placed on a fanatsy female warrior who'll punch your teeth down your throat and smile while she does it. :cheese:

Yeah, but his meat and two veg are obscured from view. ;-)

He's a family friendly dragon. He especially likes kids, though he thinks they tend to be a bit stringy and get stuck between his teeth a lot.

I have a Heavy Armor for Genesis in my Renderosity store (two counting the Armor of Kharadh). They have gone over like lead balloons. Probably because they're plain in texture (I didn't have 3dCoat at that time and inlaid metal is still not my best thing). I've picked up both of your armor sets. They kitbash very nicely and Gemologica and other shader packs does a very nice job of getting things the same color, even if it isn't decorated.

Very useful. I can refit most gen 4 stuff, and there is a load of nice gen 4 stuff, and most of it refits very nicely down to shin level. But then the sabatons always get mangled.

HelFish's stuff is really nice, but it's awkward when all the characters end up wearing the same armor.
