Didn't fare as well in the PC challenge (barely got the submission made in time), though did receive some nice comments on it.

    Congratulations!

Nice renders Kyoto Kid. I like the lighting.

Here is my screenshot for the day. I downloaded textures of Afternoon Heat, but I forgot to download Afternoon Heat for Genesis 2 females. lol

edit: Daz Studio 4.6 crashed while I was rendering a scene with Backdrops Made Easy and Genesis 2. I'll do some more testing after I eat lunch.

i'm not sure if this error message is related to the render error:

...most of the time I find the logfile doesn't help as the last statements before a crash don't seem to indicate the cause. When I was having 4.6 crash while adjusting and moving the Advanced Spotlight (which now appears to be an issue with the spotlight itself as several others experienced crashes while working with it) the last statement in the log indicated the action previously taken was successful after which it just cuts off.

Interesting scene, and well done. And it has the "cute factor". I guess that's why it won. Your other one was well done, too. Sometimes it's hard to tell why one wins and another doesn't. Do they explain the why and why not? Or just leave it to you to figure out?

Looks like they don't have very good error handling routines in place. Makes figuring out what went wrong difficult at best, a nightmare at worse.

Well, in one line it references "stdin", which...in C++...can be thought of as a standard input stream to the program. The stream can be from the keyboard of from a data source, most likely the latter in this case. The last line indicates that this is probably a script (qt I think is their scripting language, right?) and that the script wasn't written properly to deal with exceptions thrown by events. So the event handler encountered an error and the script wasn't written to deal with that type of error. It was probably assumed that it would never happen. That is a bad assumption to make. When programming, every possibility, and even things not thought possible, should be expected and have code to deal with it...at least enough to assess the error well enough to investigate it and find the cause.

Daz Studio 4 works fine with Backdrops made easy now. strange. I think there was a big memory leak with Daz Sutdio or 3Delight because my computer was running low on memory compared to previous sessions.

    ...actually it's a "he".

The character is from another scene I did earlier with KK up on a fire escape watching a deal go down in another alleyway. This is the "follow-on" to that one.

For the face I wanted a "what was that?" expression which along with the hair does make him look a bit more effeminate. However, there's a reason elves in SR are often referred to in a certain way.

As to the gun pose, I used one of the Gentleman Adventurer poses as the base.which had the arms and hands pretty much in that position. Come to think of it, the right hand should probably be more under the bottom of the left hand & gun grip than on the wrist. As it was, had to do a lot of reposing of the hands (finger joint by finger joint) since the pose itself was for David5 and I used just the base Genesis with a bit of Justin dialed in for the character. Often when using a pose for a specific character on another, certain things don't line up the same. That should be a rather simple fix as I intend on submitting this to the Shadowrun group galleries on DA and definitely want it to look right.

...I think the characters in this one stand out a little better (though I actually feel the alien kids in the other one had a bit more "awwwww" factor). As I mentioned over on the PC challenge thread, night scenes can be tricky to pull off well due to the subdued light intensity. Here I used the lanterns to make the two pairs of characters stand out against the darker background as well as a bit of DOF and adding a vignette effect. Another reason could also be that in the first one, one of the drawn items (the V4 Body Suit Underwear the Mavka character is wearing) is not as immediately recognisable since I covered the bottom of it with a skirt (for modesty sake).

With that waist and hair and face I didn't think it was a he. Sorry.

As for the gun pose, if you want realism, that is not a proper firearm handling pose. The hand under the grip, palm facing up, is also not proper.

This video is a good one. The "cool" positions can hurt you, and also make you miss your target. If the target has a gun pointing back at you...you're dead.

I just thought you might want some accurate info, to make your images more convincing.

Why do hotdogs buns come in packs of 10 but hotdogs come in packs of 8?

if you trim the overhanging ends of the hotdogs out of all 8 buns you the fill the remaining two buns with the hotdog pieces and have 10!

These beasties would be so adorable to have in a 3D format :)
Although without fur/hair from Lightwave, Cinema4D, Carrara, or Blender they'd be a bit meh. Or maybe toooons of transmapped fur polygons?

Yes you only need to buy 4 packs of buns and 5 packs of hot dogs and you have no problem.

..thanks. The videos are good in explaining the reasons (loved the "How Not to Shoot a Revolver" one). Wish one of the shooters was left handed like my character. I'll need to find some still pics though as they are more helpful as I can better use them as a guide for posing. A lot of game illustrators may need to see these.
    .
Part of the "narrow" waist look could be due to the bulk of the chest piece he's wearing (from of one of Xurge's armour sets).
