If I click on that location, all I get is a large text file.

Try right-clicking on the file and "save link as" or "save target as"..

Thanks Robert, I've already had to shut down my other computer, as I have to go to work early tonight, but, this is the one night of the year, I get to go to work, and not really have to work, and that does get to be a boring night,

and that test snow mesh.. Let me know if you need it modded...

    http://members.shaw.ca/hac_1202/misc/snow_mesh.obj

did it as a symmetrical lattice.. more options for rotation, etc that way

I'm afraid that comes out as a text file for some reason!

    Does here also.

Yep.. that;s what an OBJ file looks like outside of a 3d model program.. Try the right click and "save target as" trick..

Since object files are text files you might also try changing it from .txt to .obj

I'll have to go over and look for the 65 Impala, your right, I've never seen that one anywhere either, the 66 GTO isn't that great, like the 64 Impala, needed some body panel repairs, but not too bad to work with, that 66 Nova, that require separating the interior tub, bottom plate from the body, as some idiot made the interior, (the whole interior) and bottom plate of the car a part of the same material zone as the body chrome, then I had to separate all of the interior material zones, that car came out to over 30 MB when I converted it to an obj! But it will look good once I get all of the interior materials set! Should take a few weeks to get that done!

I will say this much, that body mesh on the 66 Nova, is every bit as nice as any of Dan Palatnik's meshes.

Okay, the 65 Impala is actually 66, no wonder I couldn't find it on the warehouse, even though the skp file lists it as a 65, on the warehouse it is a 66, and the body lines indicate its also a 66.

Okay, the 66 Impala is not that great, but believe me, as far as sketchup models go, it isn't bad either, not as well detailed as the Nova or the 64 Impala, it isn't bad for a background prop, and is a good looking start for anyone wanting to detail it, add an interior and such.

You mever know about sketchup cars. You just have to try. I have downloaded a lot of them, which only takes a second, then coverted them only to find bad material zones, bad mesh corners, Bad unions. Almost all have to have the normals recalculated, so I take them into Poseray for that. On the 66 Nova, my interior is chrome also but the seats have center sections. That could be changed to black though and would work. I did export it as a .3ds file, then converted to .obj in Poseray. Then into Daz.

When I loaded it into Poser as a prop, I loaded it in 3 parts, the body, the interior tub and the bottom plate which includes the wheels/tires, this cured the problem of all the chrome parts being chrome, such as the interior and bottom plate, almost like putting together a slammer car kit.

Keep on making them like this Nova, and you will become a legend alright! Actually, the car is very well done, not a thing wrong with the mesh, but you do need to get the mat zones figured out a little better.
