Mine combines the symbol for "female" with a stylized spider. I like spiders, and I usually use something spider-related as an avatar. Since my online presentation is neutral to aggressive, and the internet assumes everyone to be male in the absence of incredibly obvious cues otherwise, people have often assumed I was male; the disguised female symbol is intended as a humorous gesture at that fact.

On some forums (like SMF) there is an option for showing your gender with a male or female symbol. Would be nice to have that here.

Over the years I used to use my avatar as a little 'exhibition hall', changing it when I felt like it to something new I'd done, occasionally making an anigif for the personal artistic challenge.

But (finally?) I settled down on what's below just so people could spot my posts....and maybe avoid them more easily? :-P

I'll attach my avatar into this post just so in case in the future I change it yet again....maybe...or not.

The pic is based off of an image I did.
I really liked the V4 female's face that I made so....
    * I loaded up the old file into Poser and re-did the female's pose a bit (now she has her head up and her eyes are closed)
    * I made her nude to accentuate her neck
    * I added a helmet, then used a nice material to make it more distinctive (I also made it semi-transparent)
    * and in postwork I added in the Earth, and a little shape of Australia, which is where I live.
    * and I purposely made the whole thing with transparency so that it looks non-square in the forums.

BTW, most people wouldn't even notice or recognize the little Australia there but Australians know its shape well and spot it instantly. Surprisingly enough I've seen it many times in nature here and have collected some Australia-shaped rocks. - Well, what do you expect, it's Australia after all?

Well, if I switch to another avatar, it would probably be based on a picture like this one. Here I am engaging in my OTHER hobby:

Interesting how you can get the wrong impression (and not really sure why), and how small of a world it is. For some reason I always thought you were on the east coast, not just "down the road". I live about 35 min. away from DZ, and drive by many times a year.

My avatar sort of fits me. Though I haven't ridden a horse in years, I do often wear a hat like that, and like to spend a lot of time out in the middle of no where. My user name reflects my proclivity to prefer being in dry dusty environments - I would have used Desert Rat (which is what my family is convinced I am), but that is actually quite popular.

Before I got into 3D graphics I spent a fair bit of time re-fighting the Napoleonic wars with a dozen or so friends - in miniature, with painted lead figures. My avatar is a private of the French Carabiniers (not one of my paint jobs, but close to what I used to do).

My user-name is my last name, reversed - a trick I picked up from my father, used originally for sarcastic inter-office memos lambasting the odd bit of inane and ineffective procedures.

There are no surviving photos of me, as the camera lenses seem to burst into a cloud of dust when aimed in my direction . . . but I am a retired myopic male and a former computer sys-admin/systems programmer/joat.

My avatar is a crop of this picture. I love dragons and made a texture for V4 with a couple of dragon tattoos on her face. Then added a bit a goth to it.

And now you know the rest of the story.....

My avatar is a really crummy quick sketch I made and had scanned in... I forgot what it was for , but I came across it one day and quickly colored it in using photoshop and used it for another forum somewhere.
It depicts the view one would have from my computer screen, of me (thats usually how I look... only now I have an evil goatee), with my twin daughters frolicking in the background( which they often do)... my desk usually has bits and pieces of disassembled technology of various eras and civilizations on it, so thats what all the junk is on the desk... along with other items...
My old avatar (the evil looking fellow with the cape and helmet) was Lord Vicore... which is my current user name... it was a take on "LrdVicor current resident" which MicroCenter used to have printed as my name on sales flyers. Lord Vicore sounded like a nice evil persona ( I have a lot... I'm pretty nutty). As time went on my plans for an Intergalactic Association of Evildoers fell through (the logistics and book keeping were over the top)...
On most forums I now go by McGyver... (spelled differently than the TV show) which is an old nickname people have given me because I can fix stuff with few resources... I used to hate it, because I thought the TV show was about a guy who was a fake spy... then I watched it one day and realized he is always making things out of other stuff, so now I like the the nickname... Yeah, apparently I stopped watching TV from 1984-1998...
At some point in time I'll probably try changing my user name to McGyver like it is on most other forums... if this forum software will let me... I'm still traumatized by the site change last year...

I think it takes a DAZ employee (probably via the dreaded Request Ticket) for a name change.

Mine is a 'fairly' close representative of my youngest (his 'T' shirt sports his name) I have very good (lookalike) ones of his two older (twin) brothers, and also the eldest. I often use (and change) them on other accounts elsewhere around other 3D forums.
Though they are all in their 'late 30 - early 50,s now, and scattered across the globe, I love to keep them in my memory as 'our kids'
Their own kids (My Grand Kids) think it's cool too! Especially our oldest boy's (Noel, - born Christmas morn @3-30am)
His kids think his Avatar is great, with his red shoulder length 'child of the sixties' hair. ... As he is now bald as a billiard ball!
