While I'm working with the fog, I've got another question.

Does anyone know of any diagrams or drawings for the TMP Officers' Lounge other than "Mr. Scott's Guide..."? That has one page- a floor plan. It has no height references like the cabin and corridor pages did.

I'll give it a try. Thanks, Robert.

'Ya' saw the image a few post up the page, here is the same with that same fog tool.

Hope that gives you a bit more perspective of what it looks like.

That looks good. But I hope it can do a lot more. I need something that looks like a bad 1890's fog. You do know that back then, What we call a fog, was really industrial pollution? It ruined alot of folks lungs having to breath it.

Here's another fog prop...this was free.

I have that one. It's made up of clothplains and depending on the camera angle and the transparency, their edges show up.
I think I need to turn the light down a little more, but at least now, I have something to work with.

If you go to the advert for it you'll see there are a bunch of settings. it's only two floating layers and a third at the base.

Which Spock are you basing it on? So far it looks more like Leanard Nimoy instead of What's-his-name.

From the looks of things I'd go with Pre-TOS Nimoy...ie TV Serial Western's Nimoy of the early 60's.

    Looks fantastic Vilmur.

...Very TNG meets New Trek look.

Nice flow from one style of series to the next.

I'd say this looks quite fantastic! You've really captured young Leonard Nimoy's look, and got the pointed ears just about perfect.

Vilmur, that looks like an excellent morph of Spock (Younger Nimoy). Very nice.

RDuda, love the way you mixed TNG with JJ Trek, for me personally it makes it more credible as I never really could accept the overly sterile JJ Trek look.

I like it. My only suggestion would be to have the front glass panels span the whole width of the consoles.

It is Nimoy, by new I meant I have started another version of a spock morph.

The young Spock is looking good Vilmur ... I just wish it were V4 instead of Genesis, but I can tell it will be a great addition to the Genesis users runtime.

Anyone know of a 23rd century flashlight? I know NG had those wrist lights. Anyone seen anything for TOS? I didn't see anything on the freebie list.

My 2 cents, I'd use thing 1 or thing 2 from this set http://www.sharecg.com/v/43811/Poser/TOS-era-Trek-Medical-Props

Well, I have those. I think I've used the hypo once. I don't think the protoplaser was ever seen on screen as such...
    It's an idea. :-)

wasn't the original idea that spock was going to be highly emotional and number one was going to be cold as a dead fish?

Actually, in a very early draft, Spock was from Mars- yeah. He even had redish make-up.It was only after the Studio said no to a female first officer, that he became the Vulcan we all know.

A slight digression: I just started a contest-for-fun that I think folks here might want to take part in. (Trek is sci-fi, right?)

Just an alternative disruptor Mirror universe circa 2150. Just for fun modeled in Hex. If anyone needs another ray gun or if there is enough interest I'll post the model

Actually, in a very early draft, Spock was from Mars- yeah. He even had reddish make-up.It was only after the Studio said no to a female first officer, that he became the Vulcan we all know.

The red makeup is rejected partially because it would not have translated well upon black and white televisions (which still filled more than half the homes that even owned TVs), giving Nimoy the unfortunate appearance of wearing "black face". The now iconic yellow/green tinged makeup (to this day bearing the code LN... for "Leonard Nimoy") was developed, a scheme that would work well upon both monochrome and color televisions. With the red dropped, the idea of him being from Mars was also dropped. No doubt for the better. Can you imagine the issues that would have arisen as we learned more and more about the real Mars which nod doubt would have debunked what the series depicted? Oy! Some outlines even indicated Spock was to have a strange metallic plate within his abdomen which would allow him to absorb energy directly rather than eating. I'm so glad that concept was dropped! Even as a child I don't think I would have "bought it"

The matter about the "higher ups" (which Roddenberry said was the network, NBC, not Desilu Studios) rejecting a female second in command, well, that was a "distortion" of the facts told by Gene Roddenberry to make himself look to be some champion of equality, something he embellished as he started his lecture tours during the 70s as Trek grew in popularity. According to the Justman and Solow book "Inside Star Trek" (not to be confused with the LP record album where he tells this particular tall tale) gave a different account. The network did not object to a female first officer. In fact, other shows were beginning to depict women in more empowered roles. They objected to the "favoritism" of Roddenberry hiring his mistress to play one of the leading characters. Remember, in 1964, Majel Barrett was not yet married to Gene. That took place after the series was cancelled and he had divorced his previous wife. Yes, at that time, Majel was the "other woman". Besides the marital impropriety, the network had misgivings about Barrett's acting strengths to serve as a "lead" for a full series. They recommended a different actress be selected. But rather risking a "falling out" with Barrett, Gene decided to outright drop the role of "Number One".

Basically, Roddenberry played "spin doctor" to make himself look the hero and the network as the villain. But to be fair, there is evidence to support the account that NBC had misgivings about Spock. There's the infamous promotion brochure that depicted Nimoy with his eyebrows and ears airbrushed to look human.

    Sincerely,

    Bill
