Any of the other Poser Pro 2014 users around here got an answer to this? The damn program can't find the Runtime.
Found IE 11 on my syhstem and uninstalled it. Re-installed IE 10 and things are working again.
Computers- you gotta love 'em...
What do you guys think? The flashlight looks a little like a type 1 phaser, but I think it'll work.
Looks good to me
Cripes four attempts to post
I like the looks of it, it fits the universe of trek nicely.
one thi though, a jumpy space cop might shoot someone for carrying that flash light.
The red makeup is rejected partially because it would not have translated well upon black and white televisions (which still filled more than half the homes that even owned TVs), giving Nimoy the unfortunate appearance of wearing "black face". The now iconic yellow/green tinged makeup (to this day bearing the code LN... for "Leonard Nimoy") was developed, a scheme that would work well upon both monochrome and color televisions. With the red dropped, the idea of him being from Mars was also dropped. No doubt for the better. Can you imagine the issues that would have arisen as we learned more and more about the real Mars which nod doubt would have debunked what the series depicted? Oy! Some outlines even indicated Spock was to have a strange metallic plate within his abdomen which would allow him to absorb energy directly rather than eating. I'm so glad that concept was dropped! Even as a child I don't think I would have "bought it"
The matter about the "higher ups" (which Roddenberry said was the network, NBC, not Desilu Studios) rejecting a female second in command, well, that was a "distortion" of the facts told by Gene Roddenberry to make himself look to be some champion of equality, something he embellished as he started his lecture tours during the 70s as Trek grew in popularity. According to the Justman and Solow book "Inside Star Trek" (not to be confused with the LP record album where he tells this particular tall tale) gave a different account. The network did not object to a female first officer. In fact, other shows were beginning to depict women in more empowered roles. They objected to the "favoritism" of Roddenberry hiring his mistress to play one of the leading characters. Remember, in 1964, Majel Barrett was not yet married to Gene. That took place after the series was cancelled and he had divorced his previous wife. Yes, at that time, Majel was the "other woman". Besides the marital impropriety, the network had misgivings about Barrett's acting strengths to serve as a "lead" for a full series. They recommended a different actress be selected. But rather risking a "falling out" with Barrett, Gene decided to outright drop the role of "Number One".
Basically, Roddenberry played "spin doctor" to make himself look the hero and the network as the villain. But to be fair, there is evidence to support the account that NBC had misgivings about Spock. There's the infamous promotion brochure that depicted Nimoy with his eyebrows and ears airbrushed to look human.
Sincerely,
Bill
This is the same thing I have heard at many numerous conventions and also in books. Roddenberry did a lot of spin to big himself. Also, he also bought into the hype that a lot of fans built around him, in the 70's and 80's, as being some great visionary, humanitarian and scholarly genius. He was no Great Bird of the Galaxy. To the those he worked with, he was seen more as a Vulture.
Many of those who wrote on the original series have said openly that Gene would alter little bits of other people's scripts, put his name on it, and then take all the credit. Gene did just what Brannon Braga was known to do, during his time as executive producer/ head script editor of ST-Voyager and Enterprise (Berman and Braga barely did much on DS9, apart from have their names listed as executive producers). Yet, only Braga was the target of many a Trek fans hatred of this sort of thing, whilst Gene (being the Great Bird and all in their eyes) could never do wrong.
There were also stories of Roddenberry sleeping with Nichelle Nichols, as well as Majel Barrett, during the production of Star Trek. Some even mentioned that he chased a fair amount of tail during the show's production, and during the convention scene, in the 70's.
The first two seasons of ST-TNG, which bore most of his "creative control" and new-found "ideals" (the delusional notions that he came up with, after all the self-believed ego), are seen as the worst of that show's history, and once he was "promoted upstairs", the show picked up in quality.
Going by all the stories and tales spoken of him, by those who dealt with him, Gene Roddenberry was more hype than substance.
Thanks for supporting my statements, Lord Iffy. I don't mean to "tear down" Roddenberry. If nothing else, he was certainly shrewd and insightful enough to gather the "right" people to create an entertainment property we are still passionately discussing to this day, nearly 50 years later. But give credit where it is due.
Oh, Bruffy? Neat looking flashlight. I just remembered the original series DID depict a handheld light source. It was in "Tomorrow is Yesterday", when Kirk and Sulu beam down to retrieve wing camera footage of the Enterprise mistaken for a hostile UFO, the Captain waves such a device around a darkened room. You can see "glimpses" of the personal "torch" here...

Yeah, it's a tad different from your prop, seemingly a metallic looking flattened "egg" with a stubby translucent cylinder mounted upon the front end. But one can explain the difference as yours being from the "movie" era, simply a different model.
Sincerely,
Bill
OK can someone please explain to me why I have been unsubscribed from this thread a total of 4 times and not gotten ebots on almost a daily basis since the 4th Star Trek thread? I have gotten used to not getting the ebots but to get unsubscribed? This is starting to get really iritating, has anyone else had this issue or is this one of those everything has lined up just right to kick me repeatedly in the danglies?
Just to show a rendering
Your not alone happens to me from time to time along with the forums letting me post in one thread but not another
I'd forgotten about that. That one frame just as they're going into the office has a good side view and it looks like I'm not off that much- like you said, mine "movie" era. :-)
Posting some textures and color
Rduda, that's looking REAL nice!

I kind of thought the new forum would fix this ... Silly me for thinking THAT!! Thanks for the feedback Robert
Another flashlight test. If folks are intrested, I'll add it to my ships and props folder at DA.
Looks good

Thank you.
I love the TNG take on the JJ bridge. Is this something that will be for sale or something for personal use?

Thank You
Thank You
You and rschulte are most welcome. :-)
Both areas are really looking good, Rduda!
Not sure this is a violation of the TOS since there isn't a similar product that DAZ produces.
So here goes.
For you comic makers and future comic/graphic novel writters:
Comic Life 3 for windows (mac for a while) is out.
If you're interested in how Comic Life looks, both of my recent Jade Redmond strips were put together using Comic Life 2,
(go figure I would release the recent strip the day before the update.). It took me an hour to put the entire page together; word balloons, formating, text boxes and sizing.
( a simple Google search will locate where to find it. )
I'll be trying out the '3' tonight. Hope it's as good at the feature page says it is. It now contains a lot of features I and other's have been asking for.
-PDSmith
as offered; Comic Life 3 example.
The controls are a bit sluggish for editing text once you move onto a new balloon and come back, but linking multiple balloons looks better and controls better. Standardized fonts for the template took a while to figure out. I used a provided font with the program set at 9 pitch.
The balloons can be morphed from rounded to more square while adding each balloon or set as a standard if you like. changing all the fonts and centering is easy, took 3 steps.
export to an image...well that's gonna take some getting used to, but it will export directly to a PDF, Epub, or even CBR (comic book reader)..nice!
this as you can see is page 8 (BTW...of 99 pages). I'm on 52 right now, so this page may change in the future.

Most likely :)
