I used RawArt's catworld lion texture for the base. I've added the white area on the chest and stomach and the eyebrows to the face. Morph is a combo of M4 morphs.

While on leave upon her homeworld, M'Ress follows tradition by visiting the one of the regional temples to give thanks to her goddess.

Was Caitian culture and philosophy ever explored? As far as I know, Peter David has been the only author to write about Caitians for the Pocket Books line of novels, and I don't think he touched upon the subject. But since I have not picked up a Trek novel since the late 80s, I'm pretty much out of the loop. Mercy only knows what ideas fans have concocted.

I just had this mental image of a monolithic statue looming within a natural cavern that I wanted to depict. Since the columns had an Egyptian motif, I dressed M'Ress in some fitting elements.

A silly thought crossed my mind. If that statue has anything so much as a digital timer to control the lighting, Kirk would probably vaporize that chunk of stone. You know how he is about computerized "gods". Also, I half expect to see a Harryhausen animation puppet to lumber or slither into view since something about the arrangement reminds me of the "Sinbad" films.

Okay ... not thoroughly tested [hopefully I didn't miss anything drastically important] ... a beta release as the rest of the package is not yet remade ...

    update: beta link retired

"almost there" for remodeling the whole set. Basically just a few grids left to check.

    The 2 "steps" were united.
The front floor base has been shortened some since it was unseen anyhow.
n.b. "unsn" is part of my shorthand for "unseen", it being that said materials are expected to be unseen and hence Zeroed on opacity. There are there if required.
The planter inserts, well everybody that wanted them has the original versions. Hexagon was treating said furniture as though it was created with Booleans ... in other words, not well ... so my planters will be different.

    Looks cool, Bill.

I agree. There doesn't seem to be anything "official", but I have seen several fanzines that touched on M'Ress taking accidental trips to Earth's past to become the reason for all those Bast statues. Most were done before everyone had access to the Internet, so they're rather hard to find. Some did manage to get migrated, though.

(Wouldn't it be funny if she was responsible for the same on Cait?) :cheese:

    All,

I haven't left or anything, just been wrapping up the last bit to the next graphic novel while also beta-testing the latest update for Comic Life 3. If all goes well I should have the book/story released by this coming weekend....that is if real life doesn't get in the way.

The book is currently 77 pages and over at my gallery on DA are some images leading up to the books release. The purpose being to define a relationship between two characters that is only breiefly touched on in the book.

All images are rendered in LuxRender (gotta 'futz' with my updated computers!)

Anything posted for the Freebie section will be updated as soon as I can. Sorry for the delay.

Okay ... this is going to take awhile so I'm releasing them as props as they become packaged and ready to go.

Part One, the Beam with 3 lights *updated zip with new link

This is the beam that is just in front of the wall with the star logo on it.
Props load in position for the set.

No textures ... templates, oops ... yes there are templates, will get those next time 'round.
    Everything is uvmapped.
    Lots of Shading Domains.
btw - in Poser, it is not recommended to use the "preview" materials and resave files. Please to use the provided Shading Domains and make new mat files instead.

IF one mixes 'n matches Poser and D/S files, there may be required some minor re-positioning as each program has its own ideas on initial import sizes for .obj files.

After all the props are made, I plan to package them as a .cr2 set.

Update: Part two has been released - have a thread going in the Free stuff section.

Part 2 was also updated and has a new link.

You're very welcome. The links for parts one and two have been updated because I couldn't swap out the zips ... it kept offering the old one ... so we have new links.

I have most of the Poser props created now ... about 5 more to polish up and then will finish the packing and release them "big" maybe tomorrow. [Have one more uvmap to "have a discussion with"]

Playing around with cartoon shading and toon outlines in Poser Pro 2014 - it seems a little buggy, but eventually, I got it to render the outlines around the ship in a large-enough image to keep them from muddying the details ...

Even this image had to be resized to fit the forum's restrictions; the original 2400x1600 is a dA: http://ptrope.deviantart.com/art/Episode-33-The-Crossbow-Incident-439824424

We have the .cr2 for the Officers' Club, a whole bunch of .obj files, a tutorial [basic rigging in D/S for making such sets] and a little video illustrating what can be done with that beam : -)

Where are the settings to get the larger images in the toon renders, can you share how you got it to work?

I really had to beat Poser into submission, and it was still a matter of crossing my fingers, but one way that seems to be working - at least more frequently than not - is to start by trying to render it at the size I want, and if it doesn't work, set the size smaller, usually at my preview size of 1200x900, and then if THAT works, go back up to the large size I really want and render again.

Nothing you'd want to write into a tutorial, to be sure, but it's been a little less frustrating than 8 unsuccessful renders in a row ... ;)
