Thank you, sir. :-)
I think I must >squee< — this looks great!
Hi all,
thought I would stop in here while I still can and let you all know what is going on. As most of you have seen on the news, this region of the world has gone to hell in a hand basket. I can't tell you to much due to security issues but things are pretty tense where I am located. I am supposed to head out for R&R next Sunday but it looks like the locals may interfere with my plans. At any given time we might have to make a hasty exit. If that happens I will try to call my brother Paul and he will hopefully let everyone know that I am alive and well. I have seen a lot here over the last decade, and I have realized that I am a realist at heart, and having an eyes on assessment of the situation here on the ground and the risks are real and potentially deadly here right now. I really hope that in a few weeks the threat will have been dealt with and we can all laugh and call me the group drama queen ... but if not ... well I want to say to all of you it has been a great ride and I have enjoyed the thread and the people who are a part of it. I will update everyone as I can.
Roy.
You be careful over there!
Be careful and as safe as possible
Come home soon and safe!
I'm finishing up my SFMC Rankpins and Combadge... I've redone the rankpins from individual props to one prop which you change the materials to. Actually this prop is similar to GeorgeHaze's excellent Generation Beyond. Overall, this ended up working much better then my original.
Here are a few renders. Hope to post it this week.
Also working on what I call an "Armor Badge" which is attached to combat armor (i.e.. Bodysuit, Xurge3D HEV) as an add-on the my Star Trek Elite Force armor set I'm attaching a few images for that. I'm only planning on using SFMC ranks, not Starfleet, but if I get enough interest, I'll might try and add them.
This can be customized to support what ever camo you wish to use. The badge logo options are: "SFMC", "MARINES", "SECTION31", "SPECOPS", "HAZARD" (for Hazard teams), "RECON".
Starfleet marine Rankpins and Combadge posted.

Hope you enjoy this.

Hey All,
This is a long shot but I'm hoping someone will be able to help me find a few things again. There used to be a site that had a bunch of ST Voyager props such as cargo containers, biobeds, the sickbay console, and briefing room chairs, astrometrics chairs, tricorders... Does anyone remember the site url, or know of where to find those models?
I know one of the meshes is shown in Jediman's Voyager Sickbay ICU image
http://www.sharecg.com/v/54493/gallery/11/Poser/Voyager-Sickbay-ICU-
The site was DTEMachine.com but has long since been removed.
Didnt someone do like a "time machine" thing where they archived the site so people could still download the freebies?
I did that like years ago, when we were in thread 1 or 2, If I remember right the HTML files pointed some of the files to something mary's site tripod or something I think I downloaded all the files wayy back when but have since lost them.
EDIT: Got the stuff on the way back machine again. thanks :))

Not everything was saved, and you have to manually rename the download files to (something).zip when you save them - but at least some of the Voyager goodies are there.

Any word on that expanded ship parts set Greywolf's working on?
How'd you make the ship numbers and name? :)
How'd you make the ship numbers and name? :)
I found a ship model with the name on the texture map instead of built into the model's texture. This one was a game mod by Wiley Coyote.
With a texture map to work with, changiing the name was easy in Photoshop.
Hmmmm.
Anyone have a model akin to that ship seen in the animated Trek episode where the Enterprise was in that pocket dimension, some ship that was missing for centuries....the name eludes me for the moment.....o.o
You talking about the Bonaventure?
You talking about the Bonaventure?
Yea, I think that's the one... :D
Here are a new set of Starfleet rankpins (goes along with my recent SFMC post). These are based on those used in "Star Trek Online" MMORPG game.... I kind a like this "big block" style so I wanted to them for Poser. I create two sets of the rankpins, (Gold and Silver) see attached.
In order:
W1 Warrant Officer
O1 Ensign
O2 Lieutenant JG
O3 Lieutenant
O4 Lt Commander
O5 Commander
O5A Senior Commander (optional)
O6 Captain
O6A Senior Captain (also called Fleet Captain)
O7 Commodore
A1 Rear Admiral Lower half
A2 Rear Admiral Upper half
A3 Vice Admiral
A4 Admiral
A5 Fleet Admiral
I create Mats for the Rankpins similar to the ones I did for the SFMC rankpins. ( Ie. Divisional Mats, Black and transparent).
The huge challenge for me was to get the Admiral ranks to show up clearly. Note: I did not do the enlisted ranks.
Feedback and comments welcomed.

If you're using Poser, it'll accept Lightwave files. 3D studio, too.
Is 3dGladiators still running and getting updated? I haven't visited there for a while, and the site doesn't recognise my username/password — and I can't even request a reset, it doesn't recognise my e-mail either. So I can't download anything from there.

I was just there and download both the Bonaventure and a Deep Space Nine model. There is a notice on the Homepage about if you haven't been there in awhile, you need to update your username and password.

One comment on Star Trek rank insignia is that they tend to be too small to read and it mIght pose problems with extending the proper courtesy. I've made these rankpins a little bigger to address that.
Just an quick progress update on Star Trek: Legends, an actual rendered scene with lots of characters to see how a typical panel will look in the 3D webcomic. I had to render it in six different sections and then splice them together in Photoshop since 4GB of RAM isn't enough to do such scenes with more than a few characters in it. It took all week to render and composite, but hopefully it looks decent enough to have justified the time. Thanks for looking. :)
