We need The Kids 8

I open this discussion in order to Daz team considers to open a Line of The Kids characters for Genesis 8 Figures. Yes, I know that with the Morphs, we can transform an adult into a child very easy, but we need Kids Skin Materials, Kids Poses, Kids Clothes, Kids Expressions, etc. Exactly like Daz made with the Kids 4 Line, some years ago.

Really, I hope Daz considers to create The Kids 8 for G8 Figures, we really need them. Thank you.

Why do people always say 'WE" when they are only speaking for themselves?

While I am all for DAZ coming out with the kids 8 for those users that want them, for me personally I never render children and have no need or use for any child figures.

...while there are various means to create young characters  be it with the aid of special morph kits or just having to sit down and dial it yourself (a veteran here of the old turn Vick4 into a child thread), it would be nice for a little more support in the way of appropriate clothing & such.  On the male side it isn't as much an issue as it is on female side.  Many of us cannot afford the latest Marvellous Designer or are even that good at modelling. Peoplealso have lives outside of their 3D work which is why there is a market for ready made content.

Crikey, we didn't even get viable teen characters that looked like young teens instead of smaller adults until Genesis..

For the same reason people are often absolutely certain that whatever idea they have would would be a guaranteed moneymaker for whichever PA decided to take it on.

I'll probaby get reprimanded for being so brutal, so forgive me in advance. I know not what I do. I for one have never seen a child here that actually looks realistic, Other than the toons by 3D Universe and Joe Quick, which are great toons but tooms have exaggerated features. The alternative options are close to zero. Most options for children, tweens and young teens, as of late, look like distorted midgets. Their heads look very weird, too large, like a shrunken adult head (some have bags under their eyes),their necks look too skinny and long and they look like strange mutations of older adults. I for one would love to see realistic renditons of  normal children who look like they get 3 squares a day, not one or eight, and dopn't look like they're some by-products of some sort of nuclear bomb.

Angelwings on rendo makes good kids.

I would definitely hope that if DAZ decides to make a child character which I doubt they will, (since their mainstay is young pretty women and kids don't sell wel)   they will commission her to make the children. Unfortunately, there is potential for abuse with kids characters, so I guess many steer clear altogether.

Please remember that these are peer-to-peer. If you actually want Daz to know what you want, you need to submit a feedback ticket.

    ..not at all.

I felt the same ever since I started in this. The Gen3 teens looked too adult particularly the faces. Gen4 had nothing until just before Genesis was released, which is why several of us embarked on trying to create our own kids/teens the best we could with what we had available.  We used actual growth and proportion charts, not just reduced the overall scale., It was a lot of work.. Genesis was looked at as making the job easier but we still needed a good base and there was none again until just before Genesis 2 when the Young Teens 5 were released. Eleven years later with Genesis3, a library of morph and vendor resource content, and I still feel I haven't quite got there yet.

Here is one of those very early experiments.

...here is one of the more recent attempts

...miles to go before I sleep.

...sadly that last statement is all too true.

  • Also, you can't get the kind of photo resources for children that you can for adults, for obvious reasons. So the textures are problematic.

It's not "The Kids 8", but I'm working on generic boy and girl morphs for the 8th generation figures and at least a couple kid friendly outfits to go with them.

This is the generic girl at 75%, a custom headmorph and my toon girl dialed in at 10%.

The outfit is something I'm calling "book smart".  I'm still working on a backpack and glasses.

...true, that's why I use Skin Builder Pro and Anegenesis.2 I wish there was an SBP for male characters however I did just pick up the G3 crossover script which also works for UVs.

What I would like, but don't really need, but would buy, is a Kidification for G8M / G8F similar to the Babyfication for G8M / G8F. While you can do that yourself if you own the DAZ Originals Head/Body Morphs for G8M/G8F and they look quite good someone using those products to create a set of presets and adding a few extra morphs usually specific to kids would be nice.

Maybe Pedro Furtado will do such a product? I don't know. I guess it depends on the sales of his past cartoonifican and babyfication products (which are really excellent if you don't have them even if you don't do toon applying them morphs individually is useful too).

I don't DAZ 3D will commission kid pro bundle product though. The last one was what? 10 years ago.

Between the Growing up morphs and adding bits of  Caryn/Tobyn you can create children morphs. I think these turned out OK... They were just morph tests I did a while ago and I realize the brows may be a bit too much for kids but 3DU and Thorne skins would be better. Also adding bits of 3DU' and Thorne's character morphs can help.

Also 3DU has lots of kid friendly clothes. But there are tons of jeans, leggings, sneakers, t-shirts in the store and some dresses/skirts that can work fine on kids.

The Growing Up series is good, but the kids all look too similar the younger they are. It would be nice to have another child morph to add to the gene pool.

That's what the G8 morphs are for as well as the many PA morph sets. I probably have over 100 morphs just for the nose, let alone every other feature and body part. Morphing is the whole FUN of Daz Studio. (At least it's is for me...)

We have kid characters (not a Gen8 Base yet, but with morphs and such). Issue is (and this no offense to any vendor that creates kids and younger characters) they don't look like a typical kid. They often have exaggerated features and their clothes don't look like practical, everyday clothing (although there are a few exceptions). I'd personally like to see that improved, in addition to a base Gen8 figure. Not saying my creations are the best, but, I'd like to see less big heads/eyes/mouths and more kids with practical attire/features.

I have been trying to figure out how to model then rig a backpack.  Should I model it open and have close morphs?  Or model it closed with open morphs?
