Hopefully, the security service will report it to Animal Control.  It sounds like a case of animal neglect.  I feel so bad for the poor dog.

Honestly you have absolutly no idea about the circumstances, they may well be key workers working nights doing extra hours etc, perhaps if someone actually offered to help rather than just reporting them to all and any authorities they can think of.

Help how? Purchase a muzzle for them? I agree that making an effort to let them know their animals are a nuisance first before calling anyone else would be a good step, but beyond that they need to be a responsible pet owner and part of that is handling how your pets impact other prople, especially neighhbors regardless of circumstances

Funny, my downstairs neighbor that likes to walk outside his apt and speak for hours on his cell on speaker was at it again yesterday despite my complaints to him and the management. So i went to the store and bought a cheap pair of headphones (earbuds) and gave them to him with the warning "use them or else!" Should have seen his face, LOL Now I don't feel bad if I have to call the cops on him, I gave him a choice (like he didn't have one before)

Offers of dog walking or sitting?

  • My problem is by the time I get my stimulus, there won't be anything left to spend it on.  Looked at the Fry's ad today for some computer parts to maybe upgrade my box and all they ahd under PC Parts & Componnents were a few computer cases and some miscelanelus parts No CPU's or mother boards and in the SSD & Hard Derives section, all they had were SD cards and some enslosures.  Looked at Walmart, Target, & Best Buy for TV's to pickup locally,  Bet buy ahs a few I like but Walmart had bare shelves.  Also their computer periferals isle was about empty.  Still not a small freezer to be found anywhere.  Most stores state sold olut or July delivery dates.  Micro Center still has a few goodies though.  Just hope they still ahve some left by the time it gets deposited.

Strange, here in Denmark (and probably most of Europe as well) nothing has changed, lots of stuff in stock as usual, prices are stable.  Maybe you could order from here if all else fails.

My apartment bedroom and living room faces my neighbors' house across from me with a back yard with 2 spoiled brat screeching young children who cry hysterically "I'm boooooored waaaaahhh! I'm soooooo boooooooored waaahhh!" Both parents are there, there's tons of toys, a nice yard with a picnic table and fire pit, lots of pretty greenery, and they often have little (loud) family parties out there. I see they have a huge screen TV inside, a really nice kitchen, the children are not lacking anything except good parenting. It drives me crazy. I'm an only child and was never bored at that age and very self entertaining and they even have another child to play with. So annoying.

Oh, don't get me started on kids and their parents, LOL I see my fair share of spoiled brats and irresponsible, clueless, entitled parents daily working in retail. Last year I had just got done dealing with a customer who just let her 6 yr old cry and cry and throw a tantrum in the store on a crowded weekend oblivious to what it was doing to the other customers around her and she just kept on shopping. A few hrs later I watched another customer deal with a similar situation, but in the correct way. She tried a few things to calm her child down and when nothing worked, she took him out of the store to try again before leaving. I watched and followed her out and before she left praised her for being a responsible parent and gave her a 20 dollar gift card.

It's sad to see these parents that have become totally clueless to how their kids act and are willing to overlook bad behaviour because "it's "my" child and they can do no wrong",

Well now they're in the yard in a good mood but still squealing and screeching at a million decibels in happiness. Their mother is out with them playing with them but they are so f*ing loud and it's too warm to leave windows closed. I feel like going on my balcony and screaming "SHUT UP!" but I don't even know if they'll hear me and I'll feel like an idiot..."

LOL, I do that all the time to the 4 brats that live in my complex running around the balcony screaming at the tops of their lungs. Your area doesn't have a noise ordinance? We have a 10:00PM noise ordinance...anything loud after that can have the cops called.

However, a dog barking like crazy even during the day can result in cops being called due to the possiblity of animal cruelty and/or neglect. (CT has harsh, and quite deserved, animal cruelty laws)

...there is a noise curfew in the building that starts at 22:00  This is why I called building security.  Received a reply to my email I sent to the office as well and they say they will deal with this. I explained to them this has been going on for several months since the beginning of this year and I have made multiple reports both to the security service and front office.

    Agreed!

Kid, can you stand having a fan running to create white noise and then double the noise cancellation with some ear plugs?

...only a ceiling fan and that is pretty quiet. As I mostly sleep on my side, anything in the or over the ears would be uncomfortable.I'm also concerned about other tenants as well as the dog itself as it sounded like it was yipeing and whimpering at times, the first time I heard that.

...I already left notes on their door about looking into a dog sitting arrangement or other alternative when they know they will be gone, but they put up a note in response note that was pretty half baked saying they were "training" the dog not to bark. It's been something like five or so months now and the situation has not improved at all.  Like melissastjames mentioned, during the day is one thing but this went until almost 05:00 this morning.  That is 6  hours the poor thing was left alone.  I have a very small studio and the dog is full sized (about the size of a Labrador)  Their flat is a full 1 BR with a foyer and balcony. that is twice the size of my place so I cannot take the animal in, particularly given the odd hours they keep.  They are also not gone on a regular basis/schedule.  This has been occurring well before the virus became a national emergency.. As the situation usually late night into the early morning hours, walking is not an option.

When I lived in Washington, DC I owned a three story townhouse in a poor neighborhood.  The family in the adjoining house on one side had about 8 people living in there.  I never heard  peep out of them, nor on the other side.  Kids didn't play in the streets because despite being on a corner (6th street & P street. NW) one one of the streets was US Route #1 running north/south through the city and the other street was a major connecting street east/west across the city.  Actually never had trouble with the neighbors despite us being the "rich" white gay couple gentrifying the neighborhood.

HOWEVER, now that I've moved back to the outback of western NY State I have had a couple sets of neighbors in the other half of this house that are, shall we say, not quite civilized.frown   A few weeks ago I was evacuated by the SWAT team because the neighbor guy was having screaming match with the cops because somebody reported him walking down the street with a gun threatening cars on the road.  Don't know if that actually happened but It all worked out OK and he was back later in the night after being psych-evaluated.  But he does go on rants once in a while yelling at the brat little girl who cries when anything is denied her.  Then when they have a friend's kid over the two kids will run, run, f'n run up and down and up and down the wooden stairway that is attached to the other side of my office/livingroom wall.  It's all great fun until someone gets hurt and then the waterworks begin and the yelling.  It's actually pretty predictable.  I just put on my headphones turn up the volume and watch my shelves to see any of my collectable stone or glass critters are vibrating off the shelf, until one of the kids gets hurt and it finally stops for a while.  I haven't said anything to the parents yet.  People in this neck of the woods have guns and like to use them.  The guy seems OK most of the time and I get along with him but remember the SWAT team?indecision

I think what bothers me most about the kids running & screaming is that it's in the house.angry  I keep wanting to say "Damn it people, we live in the country and besides you have a solid, wooden, high fence around a large beautiful yard perfectly visible and easily surveyable from the windows of that side of the house.  Running and yelling is an outdoor sport!  Teach your kids about their indoor voice."

Nice, wish I could, gotta work though. I did just finish a week of vacation, so it was nice to be away from the madness for awhile.

  • Yeah, I have some neighbor kids that seem to make noise until about 10 in the evening some nights when they are playing outside.  I am like you.  I just turn up the TV and go on about my business.

On another note, I think I'm going to cry.  Man this is bad.  I am thinking of updating my rig with a new motherboard, processor & memory.  Wanting to go Ryzen this time as I do both some light gaming and of course, digital art.  Fry;s is sold out of X570 chipset motherboards nationally.  Only one at Microcenter is is the Asrock mATX Pro 4 board.  I can always do NewEgg but I prefer to buy my motherboards and processors as bundles locally.  By the time I get my stimulus, there won't be anything left for me to spend it on and stimulate the economy.

I get new ones every year or so because the house across the road is owned by Anglicare and they house families in it temporarily, seems being in need of accommodation goes hand in hand with being lazy parents.

Nearly every family without exception has unruly kids.

The current one has a screaming yelling mother that annoys me more than the kids.

When not screaming at them she screams at her boyfriend who then gets on his motorcycle and rides off in a huff, then you hear her breaking stuff, that produce an incredible amount of rubbish because I think she breaks all the kids toys too, she snuck stuff in my bin sometimes and was all broken stuff.

We haven't spent our stimulus yet,  because we may need it later this summer/fall in the second wave of the covid19.  So we are concentrating on stock piling things that will be extra hard to find & we will need for next winter, before the next what ever shortage comes about like th e toilet paper..lol .  thankfully our house is paid off .

We are going to a pick our own veggies and fruit at our local farms that allow it. its so much cheaper picking it yourself for things to start canning with & it helps out our locals farmers as well.. we picked 34 pints of strawberries last weekend. I made 12 pint jars of strawberry preserves and froze a few quarts bags to boots. I cuts 7 pounds of rhubarbs  I parboiled friday and froze.   we went in on deal with one of our friends and paid for a 1/2 a beef cow,  which we will freeze the meat when the cow is ready in the fall to be harvested.  locally grown grass fed beef, & we should start getting our own eggs in a few weeks from the few chickens we have.  we have all the firewood in for next winter done already .

For us summers just means time to get ready for next winter. & We expect it to be very tough next season all around , cold weather and economical hardship galore.  that is what I am saving our stimulus for.

...one of the first things I used mine for was to pay off some bills that piled up and get a couple very needed items. There are a few more of those "necessities" on the list (like a good durable replacement electric can opener for the one that died as the manual one I am using is absolute torture on my arthritic hands and wrists as well as an inexpensive colour printer so I don't have to keep going to Kinko's every time I need to print something) when I can find a brick& mortar place open to purchase them.  Would like to avoid shopping online as much as possible, not only because of additional shipping charges, but the fact there has been rash of thefts of deliveries at our building.since the office isn't accepting them to minimise face to face contact (basically UPS, USPS, and FedEx are just leaving packages in the mail-room for anyone to grab).

After those needs are met, the remainder will be put away in savings for emergencies.

By the time I was three I was a mini adult. Instead of hiring a babysitter, my parents just took me everywhere with them, out to nice restaurants with their friends, to the theater, grownup movies... I just sat there quietly and listened and watched. Never had a desire to run around or make a scene. Although I did start crying when I saw a movie with a gunshot and my parents quickly took me out of the theater and made sure there was no violence in future movies!

My problem is by the time I get my stimulus, there won't be anything left to spend it on. Just hope they still ahve some left by the time it gets deposited.

...have you tried Newegg? I use them for my electronic components.

Yeah, NewEgg.yes  Although I prefer ordering through Amazon (or rather, I did prefer ordering through Amazon because of my Prime membership).  A couple of  weeks ago I needed to purchase another SSD for my brother's computer but after I'd ordered it, I got an email from Amazon saying it would be delayed several weeks.  I immediately cancelled the order and jumped over to NewEgg to buy the exact same SSD for just $1 more, and also with free shipping. And it came in just 3 days, same as my experiences with Amazon Prime.  Happy puppy.smiley  However, I suspect that soon, if not already, the supply lines for goods from China or elsewhere far away, are starting to thin considerably or even break.  I'm glad I'm not currently in the middle of gathering parts for a custom computer or in the market for any specific consumer electronic device.  Might be a while...

Nostalgic memories:  I'm old enough to remember that once-upon-a-time the best electronic devices of the era were made right here in the USA.
