If you were given free reign to be the artistic director for a new core character and bundle, what kind of character and style would you go for and what would the theme be for your bundle?
I will add my preference later, but love to hear what people come up with.

A decent kitsune couple with lots of Japanese items, including some Sakura blossoms.
Core Character - G8M equivalent to Girl 8.
Supposedly, his theme for the Pro Bundle will be "Fairy Tale Prince". But the promos make him come off as one of those evil bishonen/pretty boy anime characters.
He will include a very long hair for G3 & G8 (male and female), looks a bit like the long hairstyle Sephiroth has from Final Fantasy. Then another long but bushy hair, where in the promos makes it look like it belongs on Tarzan. Then a pose set for "gentlemen".
Bundled characters; a very stylized one that makes him look like pale, otherworldly vampire with a lot of makeup options. Another medium-tone character that looks like an everyday but stylized guy.
Outfits - An ornate King Louis XIV styled baroque outfit. It's dForce because it comes with a cape. Another dForce fantasy outfit that's based off the Scarlet Pimpernel. Finally, a futuristic cyberpunk plague doctor outfit that looks completely out of place but it looks weirdly cool.
Starter bundle will include the base, vampire add-on guy, pose set, Tarzan hair, Scarlet Pimpernel outfit, and Plague Doctor.
There other Add-Ons customers would buy are more fantasy rogue costumes. Perhaps other pretty boy characters but not really.
Some people would love it, many, of course, would despise it because they don't render stuff with this theme, so it's all useless to them.
MimicMolly, I'd totally buy that bundle.
Cat 8
Dragon 8 (with an actual wyvern morph)(yes I know HH released his own wyvern)
Horse 8 (with actual hair and feather)
Pietro 8 (there is already a Peter 8 for Vlad). The bundle theme would be weaselly bad guy clothing and props, including a suit with a bow tie and a pose set with whispering in someone's ear, sliding an envelope across a table, picking someone's pocket, along with some weasel bad guy expressions.
Like combo bundles of the iconic characters. Victoria/Stephanie, Michael/David, Aiko/Hiro (close to gen3 look), The Girl/The Guy (close to gen7 look since this was the first 'official' Guy from DAZ).
Me too. Valentino 8 is somewhat close though, but I want "fancy". I've managed to doodle these outfits at work, just in case people need some visualization for this cobbled up "Fairy Tale Prince" theme.
I totally love the Fairy Tale Prince idea. Would love a whole Fairy Tale theme - Prince, Princess in distress, Evil Stepmother, Fantasy Creatures. Would be so fun to do :D
I’d love to see more fantasy creatures. Centaur 8 was a great release, but what about an “official” G 8 mermaid/merman? Reptilians? Hooved creatures including fauns and Minotaurs? Bird people?
Probably a princess character. There would be a couple of beautiful dresses like the Gowns of Fantasy, a couple of fancy hairs, crowns, headpieces like the high fantasy dress headpieces, and princess expressions and poses
Another character would probably be a small alien girl tho since she'd be a more unique character design than the princess I'd more likely go with her
Princess: Core character with elegant toned features a lot like Stepanida or Teen Princess Leila, maybe a bit stylized too
Hair: a short fancy wavy hair with a fancy bun and a longer hair with a bun and falls down mid shoulder length. I don't know what I'd want for the third, I thought of a ballet hairstyle but Adia hair and MEGA Updo hair are already perfect for ballerinas
Characters: A cute sci fi themed one, a fairy one, and a ballerina one
Outfits: Definitely one in a ballgown style with puffy sleeves and a sweetheart neckline and also another fancy gown in a different style similar to the Hanami dress, and a Swan Lake tutu.
Poses: princess and ballet poses and expressions and mostly happy confident ones too
The other core bundle
Alien: She'd be 3'9" at default height and have a big head, long wavy pointy ears, and thin body but not as drastic as Dolly and have cool pink skin. She'll come with makeups that compliment her cool undertones
Outfits: A practical safari outfit with sci fi materials and modifications, like the Adventure Outfit but with glossier materials and sleek futuristic tools, a sci fi spaceship crew uniform with a skirt, and a casual sci fi outfit with long sleeves and a wide hem flowy skirt
Hairstyles: A practical one for adventuring maybe a ponytail, a looser flowyer hairstyle that goes down to her shoulders, and a fancyish but not formal one
Characters: I want them to be different enough and not just something anyone can do with the base character and morphs and a skin builder while still keeping them small aliens. One will have purple skin and a different body type and a second one would be bigger
Poses: One for exploring and one for being on the spaceship or casual like sitting or walking morphs specific for her but not a pain to tweak if used with a human character
For males it's harder to think because Yuzuru and Valentino are themes and characters I would have chosen. Maybe a superhero theme or fantasy adventurer theme? Or maybe an anime character
That is interesting proposition. There have been complaints about the core characters or their bundles from time to time but when asked to design one that's better and that one would be confident was also a big seller is not so easy.
I agree with MimicMolly, I would add a Guy 8 Pro Bundle and add on, on par wih The Girl 8 Pro Bundle. Although just because 2 people in the forums say they would buy such a bundle doesn't mean it would be a big seller, if the Guy 7 one was then obviously it would of returned by now you can be sure.
If not that, it really does become more difficult since most of the complaints before Genesis 8 have been mostly remedied in Genesis 8 and what's lacking is breadth of pro bundle inclusives and/or addons. So maybe his & hers pro bundle along the lines of Grey's Anatomy/Holby City. but that comes up a bit short unless you include international differences in clothing. Maybe a His & Hers Rescue Pro Bundle that included Police, Fire, & Medical clothing and addons for firehouses, police stations, hospitals and addons for their tools and vehicles of the trade. Maybe a bundles that included all the characters clothing, furniture, buildings, landscapes, and vehicles in a typical mini-series show like the Downtown Abbey, Father Brown, or Call the Midwife (they do seem to favor the 50s though in changing the timeline of the originals - I guess the 50s are easier to fake logistically). I don't know about you but I find the shows worth watching show for the visual appeal from time to time with the sound muted. If those were methodically created as bundles/addons collectors being collectors I'm pretty sure they'd do quite well. It's not like you can copyright the 1910s era, 1920s era or so on can you? Last time that was done was the Generation 4 / Genesis era with the 1930s circus sets and the 50s diners and drive-in sets, so that's been done before and I meticulously collected it all.

Outfit 1: After combing through Daz Originals G8/3M clothing looking at collars, lapels & shoulderpoints, it appears that the first three outfits should be left to Mada and Cute3D, as the rest of the roster has not yet discovered the secret. All men's pants should have crotch creases. Men don't wear no polyester!

I'd really have to think about this, there are quite a few options I am really missing as a kitbasher.
First thing that comes to mind would be an alien/animal creator, let's call it SAURUS 8.
Think a tick 4-legged animal, not one of those wimpy dogs and dragons that are all bones. I need something I could morph into 20 different dinosaurs so to speak, from bipedal to four, with a removable tail. With some good effort and add-ons you'd be able to make a cartoonish animal like Yoshi too. So many creatures you simply can't create with the current resources fall into this general spectrum.
..yes, Cat 8 with:
a basic set of different breed shapes and colours (including a proper Manx) with basic displacement fur.
Morph expansion set (including a "Young/Kitten" morph).
Strand Based Hair or LAMH Fur.
"Real" Cat Pose set (indoor and outdoor).
Cat and Human interactive pose set.
"Real" Cat Expressions.
Updated Cat Props (including a cat door insert for doors that is rigged).
...would love a cyber implants bundle for G3/G8. that included prosthetic limbs like arms, legs (full & partial) and hands.
In terms of humans, I'd love to see something Viking/Norse inspired. I know we got Vlad (not sure who his female counterpart was), but the "Viking" clothes that dropped with them were... :/
I'd like to see pretty much anything in terms of costume and set design that you'd see in the show Vikings on The History Channel. Not just that one Ragnarific hair style. Like actual warrior braids. Yusssss. Proper leathers, plate, and scale...for both men and women (No. Boob. Plate.).
There's even a musical accompaniment to this option — I Want To Be Peter Lorre by Tom Smith. Caution: funny. Very funny. Very, very funny.
I can't even think of a human character or bundle that I would need! I got my Judy Jetson fix for clothes from Alawa 8 and can make my own toon character from existing characters and morphs... I have pretty much everything else I can think of!
But CAT 8! A cat with a whole bunch of different breeds from Siamese to furry Maine Coons, Ragdolls, Persians... Lots of fur textures. Fur with parameter controls as well as dForce. Cat trees, cat toys, cat food, dishes... And a ton of morphs and poses! Kitten morphs! Maybe even a toon morph, something like Cartoonized for the cat. (I would like that for Dog 8 too as well as many more breeds, long haired breeds and a puppy morph, why was Dog 8 abandoned???)
Oh that reminds me... I don't really need more characters but would like to see a combo bundle of both male and female clothes from the Hulu TV show "Salem." There was an interview about costume design for the show and it was really fascinating how wardrobe was designed for three distinct characters coming from different classes and how each costume fit the character's personality. They don't have the Puritan type clothes (at least in season 1) but I would like to see that too and also period hair and sets from the Salem Witch trial days. But I have enough characters and morphs already. But wardrobe, hair & sets from that time would be amazing!
Actually more historical bundles in general. I'd also like to see clothes, hair, sets from the French Revolution time, both upscale ala Marie Antoinette, the bourgeoisie middle class and also the peasants as well as sets and props from that time, both upscale and downscale. The same for the American South circa "Gone With The Wind" times!
First speaking in general for bundles:
If is for a regular/relistic/human character i think variation is what main bundles should provide in outfits: 1 futuristc/sci-fi,1 historical/fantasy, 2 contemporary(ish). Hairs too, should be a little more neutral.
And while i cannot use hd-morph in my poor excuse of machine; i think a PRO-bundle should include the HD-Addon. Why? Because I think of it as a the only "pro" feature of the character. If not, better call them Big Bundles or Premium bundles. (Logic OCD speaking, still just an opinion)

Now....Considering that g8 already has a lot of characters i think it may benefit more if new ones add something specific or unique. Like centaurs did, tho i'm not targeting more fantasy content at the moment.
Personally, i would love more aliens. Yes, i know that beside zelara/nix (+addons) there are other non core figures. But i would like more, specially male/female matched species.
If fully theme bundle, then clearly i'm more into sci-fi (NON Retro). So i would love more stilized but kind of realistic space suits and armors. I know there are a couple, i just would like more. Variation is key, specially when one wants multiple species, not using all the same outfits. Also, outfits that adapt/morph to several aliens unique characteristics would be really cool. Futuristic/Cyberpunk outfits, we can never have too much of these; mainly because most people have different visions so having options is always better.

We went to that Oetzi museum in Bozen but unfortunately before they made that wax dummy. I'm sort of guessing that in the Alps Oetzi would have had at least a fur tunic or cape of some sort. The sun damage on his arms and face but not his torso sort of shows they must think the same but maybe they haven't finished to tunic yet.
I would replace the warrior/hunter with Hockey. Or make the hunter what modern US hunters wear, you know that camo gear you see all over rural towns where WalMart is around. That's probably a really big selling pro bundle for game maker hobbiest looking for professional modern culture macho gear they can license for their games.
I'm a bit surprised the Cena lookalike Dain had no pro wrestling gear. It was military themed pro bundle for sure but wrestling is big in military. There are clubs.
Well Grim's Fairy Tales (of which there are nearly legion), is an excellent source for some ideas. I mean Disney has plundered it repeatedly.
