It was Bitrock installers on the Mac. I'm not a bit nostalgic for those either. And so we come full circle. I remember when DIM came out and there were some issues and people (digitally) rioted and protested about being forced to use this new, terrible, installer! Now many of THOSE people are here rattling their sabers at the new DAZCentral monster proclaiming their refusal to let go of DIM!  (We fear change, it is in our very core).  But after seeing a cycle or two of this, it becomes slightly more comical than disturbing.

    This too shall pass.

    Exactly.

Back in my day we had exe installers and everything worked fine!

(but seriously, no one is nostalgic for those, at least, right?)

It was Bitrock installers on the Mac. I'm not a bit nostalgic for those either. The scattered the files all over the place. And not necessarily where they belonged. Was never so relieved as the day they went to .zip files.

Am not willing to give up those .zip files.

One ended up learning the Poser file structure in self-defense.

My DS machine is off line & always will be now Win7 is past its use-by date, so I can't use anything other than manual install.

I do hope that manual install won't be removed in the future. Having said that, might be cheaper for me if it is... wink

Wellllll, there are people using DIM to download and install manually. And using DIM only because otherwise we wouldn't get notifications of updates ... else I would download the zips manually too.

I used to download entirely manually, but because of updates, that's what I do too these days.
