King Wash Laundromat

Does this product require Studio 4.12 for the new Fog Matte effect, or does it generate the fog effect only by the included fog cameras?

It's the cameras.  The Matte effect doesn't look like that.

They look very similar to the UE4 renders from when this was originally released, and they don't say iRay on them, so it's possible they're not even rendered in Daz.

    @sevrin

That sounds like a reasonable assumption, but hasn’t been verified as fact yet. Have you bought and tested the product?

No, and I'm on the fence.  I've played around with the Matte effects a bit, though.  And if a product advertises "8 camera presets with fog geometry", and were not to actually have any fog geometry, then I'd be surprised.

I follow you, but it is not out of the question that the 4.12 fog feature is somehow used in tandem with—and, therefore, not 100% independent of—this product’s cameras. Maybe—and probaly—not, but that remains conjecture until the incontrovertible facts are known.

Polish handled the conversion.  But I think the intention is to just have it listed is a Daz Original

Have you ever used the matte fog?  It's free to try!  The effect is flat, and they wash out everything, including lights.

I stand corrected, and my apologies if I offended. I'm glad to see this product on Daz - it was an instant purchase for me. I'd be very happy with many other things being ported over. More please!

No worries - I said it more as a testement to the artists who did the great work to capture the look, feel and atmoshere of the original scene.

Oh, definitely! I'm excited to see these products making their way over to Daz.

Is this a new approach - licencing products in this way? Either way, it works for me :D

No doubt about that! But which two depends on the answer to my question. Got any news on that front yet?

I think everyone should have a look at the detail (link to promo image) in the King Wash Laundromat. Amazing. Way to go.

The detail reminds me of this render in the user galleries, "Evening At The Inn". Ok so the render is not a standalone product, but still! Big wow factor. laugh

Important question for me is: do the doors of the room. the washing machines and dryers open/close or not? There are some partially shown open, but no indication that they aren't fixed in position...

not sure what you guys are talking about ... are you saying there are models that originally appeared in, or were sold through, other platforms that are noe being ported over to Daz as iray specific products?

I could be misunderstanding the read me, but looks like the dryers, front load washers, front doors, the top load washers, and possibly side/back doors pivot on a Y or X axis. Of course I am only speculating at what I'm reading.

I'm not sure I need a laundromat, but dang if it doesn't look cool. I may have to splurge. wink The promos are amazing.

I am a bit confused too but need to be careful how I phrase this.

Conversions by premier artists are fine if done with the permission of the original creator

I would want to be assured of this before buying something then having the original Unity asset creator for example see their work in my YouTube video and questioning my source.

Thats pretty much what he is saying. There are a lot of people that create 3D for many other purposes and platforms. DAZland is just a tiny part of the 3D world.

I meant if the DOORS of the room and included machinery can be opened/closed ;) As the washing machine and dryer come as props, I take it for granted that these can be pivoted. But it still might mean that the washing machine and dryer come as a prop with their doors locked to either a closes or partially open (as seen in the pictures) position.

The pricing here is generally excellent, especially when compared to comparable (non-daz, non-iray, just .obj, etc.) 3d props sold at places like cgtrader and the like. Sometimes there is an introductory price that is (imo) too high, but when it comes on sale, especialy if you can wait even beyond that (like year-end sales), the prices border on being insanely cheap. Then there are the discount coupons too. The prices are definitely the bright spot (not the non-mac developed add-ons, nor the repeated borked sales with discounts not applying properly, nor the lack of being able to speak the truth in forums without getting censored) here on Daz. Although the pricing structure is awesome for us (as is the venerable free flagship Daz Studio product), it must be crushing for content creators to see their stuff crashing to often only 20% of original pricing when big sales happen.

Edit: God, I forgot Gift cards .... add another 20-30% off (if you get the card at a good time) ... geez are there any other ways left for Daz to cut prices? It has to be the industry leader in price cutting ... to the bones.

This is not even a case of PA's converting stuff on a whim.  This, like Underbelly, are projects which Daz license directly with the original artist, which are then converted by Daz (either in-house or like this instance via an existing PA(s) at Daz).

Could any owners confirm what rigging is available? From the readme there seems to be some rotate function for dryer and washer. It would be weird if the barrels rotated but the doors/lids aren't rigged.
