this is the old, old deco diner. rendered in my poser7 days. old old deco club outside.

used 1 vanilla ibl light, one point light

by vanilla i mean no photo used in the ibl light, plain white diffuse

min.shade set to 0 to show the menu texture clearly.

would prolly look a lot better with modern idl

hard to tell, but there's a poser jellyfish in the render

That's not half bad. I'm having a HORRIBLE time getting this darn thing to not look blown out, miscolored, or plain old everyday flat. :blank:

One distant light, one UE2 on GI w/ directional shadows.. none of which seem to appear.. wtf..

Vicky's Diner test render one. Needs to be fleshed out, not happy with the lighting at all, but it's a start.

Can you use the Uber thingie to make the bulbs in the hanging lamps into light sources? Do they even have bulbs?

We can set objects not to cast shadows? Really? I did not know that. Let me look at the parameters tab.

edit: changed property to parameters. Wrong software program. opps

How do I turn off shadow casting per-object? :blank: I am clueless... save me Google! :bug:

Ok, 3 distant lights, 2 casting shadows, no UE2. No lights in the fixtures, I think that's what's killing me. I've forgotten a lot of my cinematic lighting I had learned... :red: :red: I need to stick attenuating point lights in the fixtures, at least every other one, and play with intensities.

..so much forgotten.. soon, shower and shave time, decide - go out for lunch and beer, or stay home and render all day? :blank:

The option to turn of shadows is under the object's "Display" section. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a difference when I turned off "cast shadows".

    Select object
    Go to Parameters
"Cast Shadows" - ON or OFF

    :bug: :bug: :bug:

    W00t! MUCH better! :cheese: :cheese:

3 distant lights, no UE2, DOF on, roof and ceiling shadow casting turned OFF. Getting there, still not where I want it.. work work work..

    Need beer! :cheese: :snake:

Hmm... just realized I've been sitting on my story too long. I've got over a dozen images to upload, so I'm going to update some this morning and then some this afternoon/tomorrow.

We last left off with a falling dragon:

    Sam leaps for safety
Napalm zooming by, snags convenient belt: Yoink!
    Samuel "Ack!!"

Samuel needs a moment to readjust his stomach.
Napalm drifts over and just sighs.

Napalm wants to know why Sam is out in the woods so late at night.
(Obviously, to stir up all kinds of trouble)

Nice fire. I don't have money to buy the fire props.

complaint: Daz Studio 4 crashed when I tried to load Victoria 4. But I loaded her recently without any problems. The error log doesn't show any error messages. Maybe I should reboot Windows XP.

I finally found the error message:

Maybe I should reinstall Victoria 4.

A quick google shows a definite trend for 3 red digits on the nose, with the middle digit being around vertically underneath the front edge of the canopy.

Hey thanks, I'm just gonna have to go back to the person that wanted it, embarrassing cos is weeks late oh well. Think the red number is ROK but the red nose is Soviet, if I get it wrong I'll have to do it again the military folks are quite pedantic about getting the country/unit right
