Morning. A half dozen opportunistic pigeons preening and clucking in a sudden burst of sunshine frim an otherwise cold and leaden sky outside my window. Warm in the sun but sposed to be the coldest evah here. Windier than usual the past few montgs but think it has been colder before :)

That ice sure lasted a long time, Fyredrygyan! Nice to see it melted off finally!

Maybe that bit of sun will enlarge the hole through which it spills and the day will get better, ps1borg!

It was supposed to be kind of dull here today, but it was pretty sunny instead. Didn't get much done anyway.

    So.

Here comes a story of my last week.

    snippy woes

In frustration, I shut down the system, tear out all the cables except the ones going to the new HD and do power-button play and boot.

    Hey presto, install is go.

    Cue headdesking.

It must be noted that the HD was in first SATA port, it was the first device on the bootable list, etc etc etc, but Windows install media had decided to randomly shuffle it around on a list of devices, and unless it is device #1, you can't install OS to it.

    "Poop x 9,001!"

    I'm just... just dead tired.

can empathise, software RAIDs are real twitchy :)

I heard back from Aviation Mag and whoa was half right about the Mig colours but whoa glad I asked cos the guide I had used a (unnumbered) 64th Fighter Aviation Corps llivery for the MiG15b flown by MiG ace Nikolay Sutyagin and has black ID lettering on the nose end

I guess I can understand that. But my way of telling the box that it won't win is bringing it to the expert. Even when it kills a hard drive, I'm usually able to get everything, or almost everything, back.

I do hate it when I have to spend more money on new hardware, though. But that's unavoidable sometimes.

Yeah well, I am the expert.

....but there is a recipe application she sometimes uses that is DOS and just won't run on Windows 8.1. At least I don't think it will. I'm not even sure if we still have the installer for it. It's old. It's called MealMaster.

Woul;d it run under DOSBox? That's, I think, a well maintained application so there's a good chance it will run under Windows 8.

The Korean War F-86 pilots nicknamed Nikolai Sutyagin "Casey Jones" for his habit of sitting his Mig15 above a dogfight and picking off stragglers, like BARON Richthofen had done in a Fokker Triplane in WWI

i'm listening to the guys at work trying to dual vga output with a card with one vga and one dvi-d via a dvi-d adapter to vga.
    sounds like it isn't working.

win7 isn't recognizing the monitor through the dvi-d adapter.

I grabbed the armadillo from DAZ in my last shopping spree, so we're good to go there. Creating the SPACE TUNA is going to be more difficult as bolting spaceship wings on a tuna isn't the easiest, or prettiest,thing... :bug:

    More coffffffffffffffffffffffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :blank:

ps. had this GREAT beer last night called "Dead Armadillo" - I kid you not. Strong and tasty, but didn't taste anything like I thought an armadillo would... :smirk:

Welp, got lucky today with the dentist. I got a cancellation spot for this afternoon and the dentist was really good at handling my phobic behavior, so I had only couple of tiny freakouts over the whole thing. Plus, it did not cost as much as I dreaded, since most of the filling was still there, it was just a chunk off from it...

I think you need a DVI-I to VGA adapter. DVI-D is digital only; it doesn't send a VGA signal out. DVI-I has four extra pins around the long metal tab.

How To Distinguish Between Various DVI Connectors

What is the difference between DVI-I and DVI-D?

I'm going to follow your advice and hide some feet.
