A new store will come out: Tomorrow (2020-11-01)

Key features of the new store software:

    • Direct Paycheck Download: your entire paycheck will be automatically transferred to DAZ's bank account twice a month, saving you the trouble of picking out products to buy or lying to yourself that this is going to be the month that you finally save some money.
    • New Order IDs: previously, order IDs were represented by 32-bit integers; under the new system, each order will be represented by a set of coordinates that define a potentially non-contiguous region or set of regions in the complex plane; these regions will be isomorphic under translation by a fractal bit-vector whose granularity does not exceed the cube root of pi, except during the summer months when the irrational components of the vector will be replaced by an inflatable plastic sea-horse and a bucket of prawns. Division by zero errors may occasionally occur if someone upsets the prawns.
    • Previews: product thumbnails will be hand-sketched in real time by a team of Bhutanese monks; every customer will see a different set of images, reflecting the truth that there is no objective reality and the experiences of others are essentially unknowable.
    • Categories: the category system used in the store will be simplified. All products will now be classified as either 'Spuggles', 'Not-Spuggles' or 'Unflateable Pony'.
    • Sorting: product listings will be sortable along the following dimensions: Skimpy-to-Modest, Molecular Weight, and Number of Legs. For the purposes of sorting, buildings, railway locomotives and garden tools will be assumed to have 12 legs, while all other inanimate objects will be arbitrarily assigned a Leg Number Equivalent (LNE) of between 5 and 9.

If it supports G3 and G8, is that two legs or four legs?

I'm guessing that the blue whale chance of getting a gift card at 65% off is going to go away too. frown

I've gotten checkout errors in my favor, but I've also gotten the one where it charges you full price even though there's no indication the discount wouldn't apply. Fortunately it wasn't too much, CS fixed it, and I could afford to have the charge on my card briefly. But I've been scared to encourage people to buy stuff here because for most of my friends a sizeable overdraft would be life-upending, even if it got fixed quickly.

Neither the figure will be a morphable blob without shape until you move 900 sliders to give it shape

Because of this I long ago decided that I would try to buy only through Gift Cards. Except for when I have to buy a Gift Card.

Every once in a while I got an unexpected discount on them in my favor.

  • I guess we have half an hour left now until radio silence  cool

"Radio silence" is scheduled to begin about 11 in the morning, Daz Time, so it's more than eleven hours away.

As the site will be down for several hours on Sunday, I wouldn't be surprised if there are no changes to the PC Anniversary at Daz Midnight tonight. Though I certainly wouldn't mind a fresh batch of PC/Day products.

it would be wise of them not to release anything new tonight then but sageness is not always a quality marketing follows wink

Will the purchase data be brought over? Yup, all of the order history and your purchases will be brought over, wishlists won't get the comments carried over (weren't utilized enough to implement in the new system) and the contents of your cart will be lost. Oh, and you'll definitely have to log back in again.

Well, there goes my efficient labelling of wishlist items then... Oh well, so be it.

..no. The last time this happened during the PC+ sale all the disounts for the remaining week went away.

Bad enough we have to turn the clocks back as well. Fortunately, here in Oregon next nspring when they are moved forward again, it will stay there for good.  Rather have an extra hour of light later in the day than have the sun go down at 15:45.

Yeah, that's a bummer, we were heavily using that. :( We will have to find a new method for it, which will take some time.

Ok, if you have stuff you've recently purchased that you're going to need to use soon, now would be a good time to make sure it's installed since DIM will be unavailable for a while.

I'm looking forward to the new store update. I hope everything goes smoothly. Good luck to the Daz Team and everyone involved!

    Nervous? Who's nervous? Not me...

hahah I jest. :D I have confidence that things will go off smoothly and without a hitch. yes (I know that sounds like sarcasm but it's not.) :)

Yeh. Not bought much, but downloading it as I type.

... I'm not paranoid or anything, but... ...

Are we going to get filtering that isn't completely useless for everything except wearables? Because that's been a bigger hindrance to finding things I want to buy than any purely visual aspect of the store.

I desperately want to be able to filter by category (shaders, lights, environments, etc.) using drop-downs rather than having to click through multiple pages that don't allow for quickly changing filtering parameters, and to be able to confine a search to one specific product category.

Isn't this the main point for everybody?

Sorting elements in all directions, both for elements to shop and elements bought - mixing category, setting, figure generation - is what matters to most I would guess.

    Good luck!

I think it's worth managing expectations.

The new store isn't going to go live in it's final form, with everything fixed/improved etc instantly.  Today is the most painful part of swapping out the underlying foundations and from there, superficial things like filters etc will be addressed down the line.

But the idea is that this will eliminate the daily issues we're having to deal with behind the scenes, then work on actually improving the nice-to-haves.

Just to make it fun, Denver and Salt Lake City, along with most of the United States, jumped back from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time this morning. It is now 0517 hours Daz Land for those who need a countdown check.

Well ... it "would be nice to have" a useful product library again. Soooooo "DAZ soon" ... sigh.

We'll be taking bets on when you suddenly awaken with a dry mouth and severe itching on your mouse hand.  I'm taking 4:37am.

  • As a vic..(i.e. veteran) of previous store upgrades, the celebration is on hold.indecision

I hope we'll be able to search by magic, effects and shaders and have a different tab that's like figures but for utilities, shaders, props and lights too

Some magics I find under expressions while others are under places-props

I also hope we can organize our stuff much better like it's so annoying going under poses and having stuff with just like a foot pose for that outfit's shoes showing up

Oh and Edit-Preferances-Interface-Display Optimatization: Best should be default. I'm actually able move around smoothly now after changing it even with sets that used to slow it sooooo much

And higher file sizes for our uploads too
