Aaye that's how I started into 3D as well - not being good at drawing xD
Saw Cinema 4D, MAX, and etc and was like "Good grief how can people afford that!?"
Then I saw DAZ Studio. As uninterested with it as I am today, it was like that proverbial love at first sight back then. Time went on and I got Carrara 6, but preferred DS over it at the time. More time went on, and I began using Carrara exclusively once I got the hang of it, and that's when I began growing disinterested with DS and a tad annoyed that it was getting all the attention while Carrara and Bryce just sat there collecting dust (I'm guessing the Particle Emitter bug from Carrara 5 is still present?)
Of course, now that I'm focusing on Cinema 4D and Vue, it doesn't really make any difference to me anymore, but I still wish that Carrara could get some needed attention. At this point I don't think it's gonna happen though. Would be fantastic to see Indigo or something for Carrara, but if it ever does come to DAZ, it's gonna be for D|S =/
But yeah. Drawing didn't actually start picking up for me until relatively recently (Few years or so back). Been in 3D much longer. Not really too good at either but hey, it's fun!
...I wish that they would update Bryce and bring it into the 64 bit world. I prefer it over Carrara as I can set up characters in Daz and then send them over to Bryce, retaining all the morphs and materials I used. I also really wish they would also invest time in fixing and updating Hexagon as well. I'd rather work with three separate programmes, each totally focused on it's primary strengths (Daz for character creation and posing, Bryce for environmental generation, and Hexagon for modelling) that have a bridge between one another than one single programme that tries to cover all the bases at the same time.
...it's the old "Jack of All Trades, Master of None" thing.
As for drawing, you do pretty well, much better than I can these days with my stiff achy hands.
what iz pizza without the pepperoni?
AAAAAAAA-MEN!!!! You post cool and interesting stuff, and no complaint thread would be complete without dinosaurs! :ahhh:
...seconded.
Love the traditional drawings you post. I'm only on the "3D bus" because I no longer can do that anymore.
So much simpler not having to worry about crashes, hardware or software going out of date, not having the right morph package, or waiting forever for a scene to render only to discover one of the characters is floating" above the ground. I really miss that sometimes. Guess it's the painter in me which is why I am not so concerned about creating "photo real" scenes as others are. Heck if I want a photo, I'll just pull out my trusty old 35mm SLR (they still sell film don't they?).
I don't know, but I do know that there are not many places left that develop and print film. Most are the Wal*Mart and drug stores...not someplace I would trust with my photos. My sister has had a few problems with them. One place even with digital photos. I keep telling her not to bring them her chips, but she doesn't listen. One CVS dumped her photos (a hundred or so) from the card, deleted them there, then all she got was the tiny proofs...and they couldn't recover the originals! All she got out of it was a $10 gift card. So what? They lost moments that can never be recovered!
I used to bring my film to a professional lab in the Greater Providence area in RI. I don't even know if they're around anymore. And I also had a place that developed film and I could go and print myself. They rented darkrooms by the hour and had color print machines that did really large prints. I did some 16x20's there. And I rented a 4x5 view camera once. I don't know if they exist anymore, either. They were way out of town, too. Actually, I just did some Googling and was quite disappointed. Aside from the likes of Walgreen's, any good labs are in Boston or even further from here. Mailing my film would not be a choice that I would like to make. Sadly, I still have some undeveloped film from years ago. It's refrigerated (or in the freezer, I forget now), but still, it's not getting any younger. I don't even know what's on it anymore. :red: And I think there is both 35mm and 120/220 film. There's a lot that I never used, too, refrigerated. But my camera's are all in ill repair and I certainly can't afford to have work done on a Hasselblad! Both my Canon A1's have something wrong with them. I haven't touched any of them in years. I can't afford a decent scanner that would take medium format or 4x5 film, either, so any copies of my work needs to come from 8x10s. I don't have a lot of those, because I was printing 11x14s and 16x20s in the darkroom. So my printer/scanner can't even help.
Dana
iz raining buckets again. glad i'se not out there walking home in it.
...for me, heartburn free.
Something about the both spiciness and greasiness (the latter which occurs with pepperoni during the baking process) just does not agree with me, and I have no issue with other spicy foods like my special burritos, chili, curries, and Vietnamese dishes.
Pineapple is out too as it is just too acidic for me when combined with the tomato sauce and spices
My fave pizza is Italian sausage, capicola, mushroom, and onion.
Cheese pizza?

...yeah being "old school" is a real pain. Paid good money for my SLR when I bought it. Now it would be far more expensive to get a digital camera that would have decent enough resolution to compare to what I could do with my old Ricoh. Back then, resolution was film, not camera based.
Fortunately here in Portland (OR) e have several independent processing houses. Not as inexpensive as the corner Walgreens or "Wallyworld" , but much safer and more reputable.
Cheese pizza?
...especially my homemade fave: hand shredded Mozzarella, Asiago, Parmesan, and Romano (even better with roasted garlic).
roasted garlic - a seat to myself on the bus :)
I rather have bacon pizza
...precisely. ;-)
Especially useful on one of the routes I ride.
I rather have bacon pizza
...bacon is always a good thing.
does ice cream taste better during the day or at midnight snack time?
I decided to google Genesis and I keep thinking of Mike and Vicky when I saw Genesis 1. I also thought of Genesis 2.
Depends on how hungry you are
Depends on how hungry you are
hungree. but if i eats it now i won't have any left for midnight.
This is Genesis 1.
This is Genesis too
Morning. Gloomy here. There is a feeble winter sun struggling against a dry blanket of gunmetal grey clouds draped along the city skyline and losing so far today :)
What is fibermesh?
This is Genesis too
...and this:
I cannot use skin builder on Genesis unless I have V5 installed. I am still working on installing all my content after I reset my computer and I am doing it alphabetically and I am still on the g's and V5 is in the V's.
A quick Google search brings up some various results, if you're really curious about it.
If you want someone here to tell you on the other hand, it could be several things. The fibermesh I know is a plugin/feature of Zbrush that essentially makes 'fibers'. Fiber meshes, hence the name :)
You can make grass, hair, and even linked chainmail vests with it.
Interesting cos the puzzle pieces seem to reprise scales :)

+1 :)
Here is Sam with a flat top hair do.
Alright, now the Digital Tutors website is freaking out on my laptop's FireFox too. Was working JUST TEN MINUTES AGO, and now *poof*. Messed up site that's nearly impossible to browse (Meaning when I scroll down all the video links are just crammed in there and difficult to click on, instead of being tidy thumbnails)
Their forums work just fine, but not the main site :(
*sigh*, back to Opera I guess.

Basically I want to know can fibermesh hair follow Genesis like regular hair?
Vue10 runs on my laptop but only just barely so. Has some graphical problems, and renders somewhat slowly, lags in the viewport often... But it runs. When working with terrains the 'heightfield gradient' for some reason is positioned horizontally instead of vertically - so that feature is entirely useless (Green = low altitude, White = high)
Desktop as expected doesn't have that problem, and can handle huge scenes just fine.
New software hmm... I just read that MAXON's going to be getting 'Arnold Render' for C4D in the future. Never used it myself since it's always been an Autodesk thing, so I don't know much about it. Digital Tutors has some videos on it though. Next render engine I get would be MentalRay/iRay or Thea though and then that would be it for me. Already have tons and I don't use most of them
(Render engine hoarder here :P )
Just found Octane as a plugin for C4D though. I think I'll stick with Maxwell and Indigo personally :P
@Misty: The lizard you peak of is Digi-I's Tyrannosaurus (Which I luvs so much) with one of Rawn's skin packs on it. :)
@Wooly/Troutface: More dinosaurs heh? I suppose then....
Troutface provides the fish and witty poetry
Fyrre provides the dragons and things
I provide the dinosaurs? :)
Or help provide anyway
Arnold is a real fast ray tracer and a popular alternative to render man on big budget movies because of the integration services both offer to the larger production houses. Basically if you have a big job, say a new Superman movie with tons of CGI, you call for tenders for setting up the pipeline and proprietary software/integrated pipeline for the particular look you want :)
It's the Plateau stuff...it may be a PC "deal". But those are certainly not PC prices.
Dana
I went ahead and joined the PC+ today, Dana (hey, it would have happened at the end of the month anyway). When I put the Platea in with the new Material set for it, the price for both dropped to about $16. When I used the $5 off coupon from the mailer, it went to just under $11.
Keep forgetting to do the changeover thing doh :)
