..here for only a short while. Had to wait nearly 2 hours to get online today. Long (and annoying) story so I'll spare the details.

Tjohn, nice pic. I've seen that too, very fleeting to the point if you don't look up right then, you'll miss it.

Money supply getting low, not sure if I can afford to sit here and get online too many more days A little miffed today as I almost left after paying 4$ "admission" for my tea and bagel only to sit and wait. Tea is finished, not paying extra for a refill.

Only need 4 of 6 numbers in the megabucks to get a reasonable amount of cash to get by on for the next couple weeks (130 - 160$). Even with the new job starting in about a week, won't see a paycehque until October as the pay period is twice a month and there is always that extra "processing" week.

Well in less than an hour the "Teen Invasion" will begin.

I need a better online solution than this.

Morning. Songbirds scratching for breakfast in our garden calling out a pale sun from behind streaky grey and storm tossed purple clouds :)

Not always, it depends on the "culture" of the company. When I started at COMDEX in 1995, I worked for three days, got the third one (Friday) off for a company picnic, and got my paycheck that day, too.

...from the documents I received during the interview, based on when I am to start, it will be almost three weeks before I see my first paycheque.

...uh oh, looks like "homeroom" is now in session.

Volumetric light throwing some weird optical illusion here  Nothing OOO with the geometry...

Odd. I like the lighting, though!

Didn't happen again so... A ways to go yet but getting there

It'll be interesting to see how this ends up.

Hopefully something like this once I get the adaptive sampling render settings right :)

Is an eight hour + render for 174 frames so I'll have another go around overnight

    So it's an animation?

    Dana

Scene from a short (indi) film

I want to try a simple animation in DS. Car going up hill on a mountain...trees and road and some foreground grass and weeds that stick up and pass by as the camera keeps pace with the car. I don't know if I can do it or not. I want to use pwToon on the scene, too.

    Dana

Sounds really do-able in Studio, do yourself a favour and render in lowest possible rez while you get the movements right :)

I've done a few brief animations.. yeah, 320x240 is good to check motion and such, run with a high shading rate to start, beware fancy lighting and high reflection counts.

I've done flybys at 30fps, 10 seconds, that took 45 min to render - which is decent for any render engine. Your proposed scene is far more complex, though, and will take quite some time I imagine.

DS's Timeline is a PITA, it needs ease-in/ease-out curves for motion but you can fake it with a carpload of keyframes.

    Best of luck!

There are a couple of addons for the animate plugin that make keyframing a bit easier :)

Not to be rude but to the person who complained that my character in Star Wars The Old Republic is only at level 25:

Hello? I was using a single core 1.8 GHz computer and an old video card. The minimum specifications for SWTOR is a 2 GHz dual core computer with an nVidia 7800 or better. The game pauses every 2 minutes. Plus, I am a free to play customer who receives experience points at a lower rate. Everyone else on Tatooine is two or three levels above me. Also, I've been busy studying. Please don't be so judgmental. Thank you.

    *steps off soap box*

    rantworthy

...well kind of feeling old right now as the place has once again been taken over by the younger set.

Guess it's time to go, take my dose of tonic, sit back and maybe listen to what the kids call "old fart's music", y'know, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, etc...ahh those were the days.

Whatever happened to good old fashioned love songs? All this angst in music today, I tell ya.

See y'all on the flip side...

I don't have animate, though. And I can't keep spending money. Does DS come with a free "lite" version of animate2? Would that be usefull for a car, anyway? The AM Limo has a wheel spin dial I think. It would seem to be a pain to keep changing that every frame, though. Perhaps it wouldn't matter with the pwToon shader applied, I don't know.

First thing I did with the new coffee shop was load up my base jawa file and give him a steaming hot cup o' coffee. ;p. Sadly I didn't have time to put him on a background before leaving for gaming

Hey thank you :) Has been problematic but looks like it is starting to shape up now. Hehe next to no textures there, most of the set is plain white coloured in with lights :)
