...yeah, but the alternative - tonnes of polys - often isn't always that much better, particularly when you are still setting up the scene and only have say, 1GB of VRAM.

Also having to fully model everything (like leaves, grass, or hair) would most likely translate to more expensive content because of the extra effort involved..

...basically it is a trade off.

What is it supposed to be? If it were a giant sewer drain, then some water staining would be good.

looking at some shakespeare stuff with swoosh 'S' s in it.

the flat american 'r' is kinda unique among languages?

In Spanish a rolled r is spelled "rr." Other languages might have a special character for it, but I'm not aware of any. I have a pretty typical American accent and the growling sort of sound that I make when I pronounce "r" is what linguists would call an "alveolar approximant" I think. Wiki has information on other languages that use that sound: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alveolar_approximant

In Welsh R is trilled rather than rolled.

The Welsh r should be trilled and always pronounced — never drop it, as most British English speakers do in barn

Made even more complimacated if the 'R" is followed by "H", as in Rhodry

The Welsh rh should be trilled with aspiration. Like saying a h and r simultaneously, but with more puff.

looking at the character map for some possibilities.

putting 2 rr's together doesn't change the 'r' sound, but i think changes the stress on vowel?
    worry, sorry

if we'd had a proper rolled 'r' letter, we wouldn't have grown up saying

Aiko is still bitching at me about a nice semi-formal dress.. geebus..

This whole writing thing is annoying, I feel so schizo...

Maybe it'll come out OK :blank: I think I should drop everything and focus on Vicky's Diner... i feel a demanding energy.. :blank:

It is a rare day indeed when I don't have Sam or Reld or Angela jabbering around inside my head. Sometimes, stories write themselves by the things I ran across at work. I have a story I'm partially working on, based around some video taping of the inside of a storm water pipe.

In my city, the city installs reinforced concrete pipe, which start as small as 18". The next standard sizes are 24", 32", 44", 50" and then 60" (there are a few 72" but those are typically under the highway). At that point, the pipe then drains into giant, reinforced concrete boxes. The parkway in front of my house has a 10' by 12' box running underneath it. And I know there are some bigger boxes under the freeway. And that knowledge, armed with the video I watched of a camera searching for cracks, created a storm-tossed scene in my brain that I had to write down. And throw poor Sam in.
...from what I have seen, heard, and learned so far at the new job, I started toying around with a bad idea for comedic teleplay that takes place in a large call centre.

In order to get everything that could happen into a Webcomic, I'd need to spend a HUGE amount of time rendering, and I'd need to win the Lottery and quit work to realize the project. :-S There's no way I could get half of what's zipping around in my head into 3D art, so.. it seems.. inevitable.. that this will be a "book with pretty pictures".

I'm putting my other writing project on hold for now (the Dark New Orleans stuff) to get rolling on Vicky (she's pretty bloody impatient).

Just because Ziva left, it didn't turn bad. It's still a great show and you missed a lot! They had a two part episode that introduced Scott's character and the New Orleans office (if you want to call it that) near the end of last season of NCIS.

Sleepy Hollow is quite the re-imagining of that story. It's outrageous, and fun, and full of twists...and even surprised me a few times, which is hard to do.

    ..my Thor's Day complaints:

    --Tired of playing catchup
--Bus commute is becoming a pain real fast and only will get worse when hours change in a couple weeks. Will have to leave home at 9:30 am to start at 11:30 am (for a trip that by car would take only 15 - 17 min.) just because of the poor scheduling and lousy connections..
--Poor content naming. This not only happens here at Daz. Last night as looking for the Mavka Overalls (on of the dras for my RRRR submission), and couldn't find it, then remembered I didn't install a lot of my Mavka clothing as there is no Autofit clone for the Genesis version of the character. Searched all my archives on both the workstation as well as my old notebook, and my USB stick backup, but only could find a set of textures. To make a long story short, after over an hour of searching and sifting through a long long list of search hits finally found that the original installer was titled "Runtime" with a number after it. How would anyone know that as the Mavka Overalls?
--Been rainy damp and cold the last few days

    Non Complaints:

--The one table at eh coffeshop that has an outlet as unoccupied hen I got to the coffee shop.
--Discovered the minimart near work accepts EBT card payments.
--First Payday a week away (first expense, getting back online from home)
--Will be sunny and 70s this weekend.

I would! Because of my system that I developed for organizing my freebies for the Freebie Challenge. I keep records of everything I download. That includes the link to the page (with the bbcode), name of the item, and filename(s) for download. But, I also rename those horrid "Runtime.zip" files with the name of the product. If there is a number (product ID) I leave it on the end. I truly don't understand how they can let that go through quality control at any store! I can see a new freebie maker, just starting out and forgetting to name the zip file properly. But I also don't understand why they wouldn't get a bunch of emails or posts telling them about it, and not changing it. There have been a few of those at ShareCG over the years. Of course, I spot them all the time now. But when I was just starting out I wouldn't notice it until I tried to download another item with the same file name in the same category and got a warning from Windows.

Anyway, with my system, I can just search the 3D Stuff folder for "overalls" and it would be found in the text files, the zip files, wherever that word appears. There aren't really many items called overalls in the 3D world...plenty of "armor", though.

...the sad thing this was a commercial item for which I paid money so it never ent into my "freebie bank". I would expect the .zip to have been titled properly or at least close enough to the actual content name or even just the vendor's name and an SKU # to figure it out. When I finally found the .zip, the first thing I did as rename it.

The search turned up so many hits which showed all individual folders and files that it went into "not responding" mode for about fifteen minutes after I resorted the list by type and even then, it as slow going having to go through the folders line by line looking for the various Runtime/Mavka Overalls/... folders followed by the vendor's name. That is what took most of the time.

Were I able to get online from home I would have simply gone to Rendo to DL it again.
