Ok finally caved and bought just M8.1 plus the HD.

No matter what I do with him, I just don't care for him, so I'll have to just use him mixed and with another texture. Shame. This is M8.1's skin with 50% of Carlos Miguel's head and some Vascularity.

Mousso's Asher mixed with Michael 8.1, plus Uzilite's New Adventures outfit. I took the Wrath of Khan shoulder tab from one of NVent3d's G2M outfits, and used GIMP to scrub off the collar insignia from the New Adventures shirt.
(I did not use the PBR shader. I'm still learning what I want to do with it. I just wanted access to the facial expression changes in 8.1 here.)
Inspired by j.cade with the same HDRI, here's my first Michael 8.1 render (beefed up with 50% Alistair body):
Also used Edward HD details and an Auto Face Enhancer smile morph to make him appear a bit older. Some postwork with Nik Collection Photoshop plugin.

Did you use the AFE geoshell or whatever that's called? I have not tried that. I did find that the AFE Expressions work even without applying the shell.
Didn't have any issues dForcing mal3Imagery's dForce MI Autumn Outfit on Michael 8.1.

On the left is the Iray skin, out of the box. On the right, I applied the PBR skin shader and added Michael 8.1's Detail maps to the Face region.

Ok - I caved and bought Michael 8.1 with my PC+ coupon (I really wanted the shader and body hair). So I've been testing various stuff and noticed the body hair seems to stick out a lot. Is it dforce and do I need to run it thru a simulation to get it to lie flat? Is there a morph I didn't notice?

Genesis 8.1. is absolutely great, congratulations to the developers!
But can the almost photorealistic quality be increased further?
Definitely yes! - By using Artificial Intelligence!
With properly trained AI, much more is possible:
Tried the following: From the original 4k x 4k maps, NM, etc several AI's I used they are generates incredibly detailed 24 k x 24 k (!) images with extremely high resolution, these AI's recognizes super-fine structures which were not visible in the original.
(Every single image has compressed several hundred MB up to the GB range, some movies have less MB).
Such extremely high quality and such image sizes are currently much too large with the presently used "normal" technology and therefore not usable in DAZ, but with a reduction by 90% to 8k x 8k (8192 x 8192 pixel images) it is already possible to work.
The result is amazing even with 90% quality loss - compared to the original, because these new images are still at least 10 times better resolved and much finer textured - below are some examples.
If the maps all have better resolution, the render times will speed up by a factor of 5-10(!) with the same render settings to achieve the same, or much better results in much less time than using the original maps!
First, I'll start with the eyes and eyelashes, which are really already exceptionally well done from the original.
From 4 original colors: brown, blue, green, black, 6 new eye colors can be created in the first permutation sequence - here an example standard 8.1. Michael face from new brown-blue eye color already in AI high resolution 8k mode, render time therefore I stopped after only 9 minutes. (Default Render Settings, Default Background)
A direct comparison of the eyes - start with brown eye color - same render time for original and new AI 8k impoved eye images:
Zoom to the eye lashes shows the first difference: The lashes do not show an abnormal "staircase structure" as in the original, but are very smooth in AI 8k version.
Zoom to the iris: Even at this very high magnification, significantly more fine structures are visible in the new AI 8k image mode.
Zoom to the cornea, the fine structure of the veins are now crystal clear sharp, noise extremely reduced, because the AI recognizes on pixel level which pixels are important in relation to the neighboring ones, these pixels are amplified, the pixels unimportant for the AI are reduced, resulting in an extremely sharp image with significantly more details.
Fact is: With the new AI generated maps amazing very good qualities are possible in much shorter render time!
Disadvantage perhaps - not yet tried: Images are larger, therefore posing is slower?
Next steps are to improve and replace all maps of Genesis Michael 8.1. by artificial intelligence in the same way - I am curious about the result.
To be honest: I just discovered all this about few hours ago, so not sure if only myself find it interesting and what to make from it?
But what do you think about it?

Something is going wrong when I try to run the simulation on the body hair . I'm getting an Error message that says "Error preparing objects to simulate". I loaded Saul Hair and it simulated fine, Raw Satyr leg fur simulated fine. What am I missing?
EDIT: After starting over with default M8.1 and loading the full body hair, it seems to be working now.
Is it me or does Michael 8.1 looks like a News Anchor?
Thank you Daz for providing textures and compatibility with Michael 8.1 and Victoria 8.1 with both male and female anatomy. I hope official Genesis 8.1 figures will continue to have support for different kinds of characters like this.
When you run the dForce simulation on the body hair, do you need to run it for each body part or will it run all the dForce objects at the same time?
The hair that looks somewhat like Dreads that is on the Trance 8.1 character: does anyone know which hair item that is?

Hi, I think I could need a little help from you.
I have problems with the Michael and Victoria 8. 1 characters. I can load them, I can pose them, but I can't add any expressions on their faces.
Normaly they should work with the new FACS system, but ... nothing. I have bought some expressions from the 8.1 bundles to test them, but none of the expressions work.
When I load Genesis 8 I had all the morphs for any part of the body, but there are no other morphs available when I work with Genesis 8.1.
Where the morphs for the face should be I have only the nice hint.
Maybe I have forget to install something (I have installed both manual, but after the problems, I have also installed Michael 8.1. again via the Install Manager).
Has anyone an Idea, what I can do, to add some expressions to them? Thanks for any help in advance!!!
So my question is did they change the name of genesis 8.1's elements to 8 for some reason? They used to be 8.1 and now after an update are back down to 8?

I'm pretty sure develoers work in a much higher resolution as a base and scale down to 4k. It would be great if they just released their maps in 8k instead.
