And, unless I am mistaken, the point of NFTs is that you're not selling the image or ownership of the image. The image is just the vehicle for the ownership for the code behind it represents.
So sort of skirting around the whole issue of selling images.
I've lost track of which of my messages have been removed, so not sure if this is a forbidden subject or not.
I read it and from what I can tell, they can modify gallery submissions and display them, but don't own them.
Nevertheless, I have removed my gallery posts. Granted, not much to do in my case, but just to make a statement of dismay.
License to use, or right to use, is separate from ownership or copyright. If you grant them the right to use, then they can use it anyway they want unless you stipulated otherwise. Which you didn't, when you agreed to the term of use.
Where would business be without a market full of fools?
This is what I was thinking as well, though in my current emotion I couldn't articulate it this well. I probably couldn't in a normal frame of mind either, but that's besides the point. :)
My concern right now is... A company that I buy products from to make images... Has suddenly gone into business selling images in a manner which I don't agree with.
It's also a complete pain to delete your gallery here because you apparently have to delete every individual image, one at a time.
Now the new NFT "shop" seems to be completely broken....
It's under the Community drop-down?
not all changes are good changes.
I see it now... It's just broken.
But obviously less important to Daz than NFTs.
On my phone it won't work. It goes to a splash page for community and nothing happens when I click forums. On my PC the drop down menu shows up.
Ok I'll let the team know, thanks
Looks like th Diigitals NFT's also unlock addtional content as well as the image/videos. Guess now, I can see why these are selling at $100 and up beacuse of them. Would possibly buy the hand painted texture map NFT one, however I can only see the texture of the face in the NFT photo, not the quility of the whole body texture maps.
NFT unlocks the hand-painted texture map files used in the original image.
This Limited Edition NFT unlocks an OBJ file of the earrings in this piece
This one-of-a-kind NFT unlocks an OBJ file of this fabulous dress along with an uncompressed 4096x4096 AVI video version of the artwork.
This exclusive NFT unlocks a Marvelous Designer .zprj file of the fabulous “Lotus” dress from the video.
They are limited. The thumbnails now lead to the OpenSea store and that lists the number of NFTs and who owns them. The DAZ Studio NFTs are usually 100 items per offer, owned by Tafi. The Shudu ones vary (owner: Tafi).
What the currently all have in common: not a single bid on the OpenSea site.
Overall it looks for me as this is the 1. April Joke from DAZ.
No. There's a difference between being able to use something in a commercial and being able to redistribute it.
Daz was founded on the concept of empowering artists and giving them an avenue to monetize from their talent and hard work. We are exploring NFTs (among other avenues) as an extension of that vision. We hope that in the future we can provide more avenues for artists to create and sell their works, if they so choose.
Daz values copyright law and has never sold images nor plans to sell images from the gallery without the signed agreement and purchase of that asset.
Unlikely. If it's a joke it's rather elaborate and seems to have generated a tremendous outpouring of ill-will against Daz in the process. Even if Daz comes out on April 2 and says "A-ha, just kidding," there are people deleting their forum posts and galleries in outrage as we speak. Plus, see Daz Jessica's doomed attempt to mollify the mob in the post above.
Whatever Daz's intentions, in this environment and with the ongoing hardware shortage, I think this NFT thing was a very bad idea. But who knows? Maybe Daz will see a huge windfall from this and the $$ of the so-called silent majority will justify the forum storm and online reputational harm.
But you're not empowering artists. You're empowering scammers to further take advantage of artists and lure people who don't know any better into buying air. Not to mention compounding on the plight of said artists who can't find any equipment to make art with because of these scammers.
That scares me evene more than the NFT's
People talk about speaking with your wallet, and I am. I just trimmed 100 items from my wishlist and plan on going back to trim it even more agressively.
I am NOT going to delete my account or uninstall DAZ Studio. However, I will be buying much less from the DAZ store in the future.
Same here. In German, we have an idiom that translates to "have a hedgehog in your pocket", depicting someone who is really tight-fisted. I promise I will be nice to that hedgehog, though
Just by coincidence, I am running out of store credit anyway, since they did not offer a good deal on a gift card for quite some time.
We do? Never heard of the hedgehog-idiom, but maybe it's a regional thing (Northernmost Germany here). What a cute picture though, love it!
My store-credit has just run out as well, no GC deal in sight ...
There was an amazing gift card deal about 2 weeks ago... 20% off I think?
Two weeks ago is long ago, during March Madness time
