"Coming Soon" Diigitals timer on main Daz page?

SeraSera Posts: 1,675
Anyone else notice the "Coming soon" countdown timer on the Daz home page? It's got a Diigitals animation right below it.... Says it's about 4 days away. Does this mean they're releasing Diigitals characters in the store?

It does have me very intrigued in what is coming, found the website https://www.thediigitals.com/ it looks like a highend fashion modelling studio..  The interesting part in this is in the about video they are using Daz Studio for what they do..

  • Well there was already a bundle with a swimsuit from/with diigitals so I guess it is fair to assume that new things are coming, maybe this time even a character.

  • Glad you said that RodWiseDriggo, I thought there had been Diigitals stuff before but my memory is a  errr, thing with holes, collander, seive.

    Regards,

    Richard

I would probably buy some of thier characters (especially if they use Iray uber shaders), because I think most of them are very pretty (like Brenn). But I would be surprised if those exact models showed up in the store. As a modelling agency, they probably want to retain some exclusivity.

the diigitals is a vitual modelling company (co-) founded by Cameron-James Wilson who has been active here in the forums, forgot his handle here. He developed the virtual model Shudu Gram based on DAZ figures and hit a spot with that.

They've been cooperating before, on a bundle.

What the new hype is about I don't know laugh

  • Very very interesting to me....I'm loving making 3d fashion-like renders so having great content creators in this branch sounds great! Let's see what happens, pretty hyped!

The last time, I only got that outfit from that collab bundle and love it. I can't wait for more!

The image is very big and appears to be a "404 Error" style message on smaller screens.

I'd be surprised if they start selling their characters here... but if that means I get to have Koffi in my library it'd be hell of a nice surprise!

God I hope they are not going to sell Non Fungible Token versions angry

or go down the whole DeviantArt route of buying limited exclusive species

That's quite the animation.  Will we be getting an outfit consisting of roses sort of but not really covering breasts?

Thank you for bringing Koffi to my attention. That is one of the most gorgeous 3d figures I have ever seen male or female. I really, really hope he is coming :D

The last bundle was too expensive for me. I expect whatever this new thing is, will be too.

As long as Daz reamins free, and accessible to low-end users, then they can bring in whatever they want (I mean, they will anyway. But, that's just my point of view).

I agree. I was never impressed with any of the characters on their website and remember seeing the price on their first product, so no excitement from me on any new ventures/products.

Hopefully the digitals is not just another all female thing.

  • I took a look at their website and I must say I am very excited about their work to promote 3d modeling for photoshoots, ads, and more. I think they're going in the right way because in my opinion 3d modeling has a bright future in fashion/glamour/advertising.

If this is about creating NFT I'm gonna scream.

  • AllenArtAllenArt Posts: 7,172

I can't even wrap my mind around the concept of NFT's and I sure as heck don't care about any with Daz models in them (or not). In fact, I think the whole thing is kinda idiotic. LOL

Ugh. IT IS ABOUT NFTs. I'm so disappointed. I love the Shudu model but this is probably going to cost an arm and a leg. That thread about NFTs they stickied was a foreshadowing. UUUUGGGGHHHHHHHH.

It is idiotic, but as it's a system where idi...people decide what something materially worthless and of no value to humanity (it's actually damaging to humanity) is worth, that's probably not a detractor...unfortunately.

Don't worry it will probably collapse soon enough and be replaced by some other equally pointless scheme... laugh

By the way, I am offering shares in my new pet droppings based currency, starting at $10,000 a share. cheeky

Ah yes, the Poopcoin, a sound investment.

  • SeraSera Posts: 1,675

How much do you think a numbered, limited edition Shudu is going to cost? Obviously, more than $50, cause their core models go for around $44.

    So $100? $200?

They had really better explain how this works very clearly on the product page. And they aren't known for that. Also, shouldn't an NFT be resellable? I didn't think Daz allowed that sort of thing.... so is it really an NFT at all????

    It's going to be a total s*** s***

Cost is irrelevant. I refuse to buy anything linked to proof of work cryptocurrency on environmental grounds; the power consumption and e-waste involved is indefensible. (And that's putting aside the grey/black market and money laundering uses of cryptocurrency).

I would have gone with S***coin, personally.
