LMAO...I'll pass, thanks.
Except that the date they're aiming for isn't April 1st. Of course, could be I suppose. I certainly hope that no one at Daz is taking anything related to that seriously.
Laurie
Oh, you're right. Welp this is just a big NOPE for me.
...my interest immediately went *poof* after looking at their site. as it appears "what you see is all you get" no morphing no blending with other shapes. I don't think I've ever rendered a single figure sold here which I haven't morphed the bejeezus out of, save maybe for the original Sadie and Sam as well as ones like the various robots and critters which are pretty limited..
The fact it seems these apparently will be geared towards the NFT craziness just makes it all the less desirable.
Oh and I would call the new currency the KakaKoin.(not to be confused with the Brazilian footy player), or DoggieDoo-llar
What makes you think you won't be able to morph her? The Diigitals agency doesn't sell 3d models, they sell a service where you can get these recognizable models to wear your clothes. So for them, having the face stay the same is really important. But once you send that model to Daz, it could be different. And Daz is all about the morphs.
But maybe you're right. Maybe you won't be able to morph her. We really don't have a lot of info yet... Will she be a G8 or a stand-alone figure? Will we be able to use her in commercial projects? Is it even going to be a 3d model or just an image.... all we know is that it's going to be Shudu and an NFT. (I do doubt that it would be just an image. As far as I know, Daz doesn't sell images)
But yeah, the NFT thing is a major put off.
The thought of this "high-class" model being used for porn is a little crazy to me.... Are they really going to let Shudu get naked with a bunch of aliens over at one of the other galleries? Doesn't that destroy all their careful marketing? Maybe there will be restrictions... Maybe you will only be able to use her to model SFW stuff. Kinda like having a contract with a real model that refuses to do nudes.
I guess we're one step closer to the 2002 Al Pacino movie, S1m0ne (Simone).
We tried that before here with a character based on a real woman, it didn't go particularly well. It will be interesting to see what this is all about, but they're really going to have to show us something we've never seen before to get any of us to take any interest in NFTs.
...
well, their models look old tech or something. The poses do not look natural to me. they are stiff
... I would like to change my suggestion to Dollarydoos.
How exciting!!!
I'm really curious. When was this? Who was it based on? What happened?
It was a Victoria 3 digitally scanned model of Anna-Marie Goddard, apparently made a considerable expense. I seem to recall she ( or her agent ) specified it was not to be used for any pornographic imagery. I suspect some people ignored that restriction.
Thanks for the info. I looked it up and found a mention of the AMG clone TOS on an old rendo post. Looks like artistic nudity was ok, but not sexual violence or anything that suggested she was endorsing a product/religion etc.
That is pretty much what I imagined they might do with Shudu. Considering the history, maybe they won't want to take the risk. Maybe they will just be selling images after all.
I doubt it will be anything more than some renders
Maybe some renders with NFT which would be even more lame!!!
what I meant
Stuff like this makes me feel sooooo old... for me that would read Sonemzerone
Oh, the laughs I let out when I enter the forums of some online games that I play... all those names with numbers in them and the read them out loud like that...
Yes, AMG and Reby Sky were based on real women.
I'm just amused that if one of us had posted the fourth short segment that's part of the ad (the one with the strategically positioned roses) into this forum, it would probably have gotten removed by the mods as violating Daz' policies...
:D
It definitely would have been taken down, for one reason or another.
Poopcoin would indeed be a good April Stool's joke.
Anyhow, all "stoolishness" aside... despite my complete abhorrence of crypto-currencies, you can't really blame individuals for mining; especially in these times. A single RTX 3090 can potentially yield an individual over $300 per month depending on the cost of electricity in their area. I think the problem is going to be with us for a while until it crashes(the sooner the better).
What's this NFT nonsense? More crypto-stuff I'll never understand?
Daz is releasing NFT Shudus, whatever that means. Can't go into details on how we know. NFTs are explained in a stickied thread here in the commons. Boy, are people mad.
Yeah, that thread does literally nothing to help me understand what NFT is. Put it this way...I tried reading a Bitcoin For Dummies article and I still coulnd't understand it. And I'm not a stupid person.
it makes my mind blurry.
I *think* an NFT is a digital proof of ownership of a copy of digital media. The "proof" is created using cryptocurrency. It doesn't prevent other people from getting other copies. It can be sold to others. Right now, everyone in the digital world is trying to jump on the bandwagon because an NFT sold recently for some absurd amount of money (was it 67 million? Something like that. Not sure. Currently eating soup). Anyway, people are mad because the cryptocurrency fad is to blame for the GPU shortage. It's also considered a waste of energy and bad for the environment. What's more, buying an NFT doesn't give you ANYTHING unique, aside from the "token" so it's a bit like buying something just so you can get an order number. (Although it IS an order number you can sell. Maybe someone will want to buy it later or maybe it will end up like a beanie baby)
Edited for grammar and stuff.
I can't help feeling Bitcoin IS for dummies. Like any bubble, it's going to burst at some point. As with most things that look good to be true, it usually is.
If it's a digital fashion modelling bundle then I'm hoping a new cloth simulator is in the works. Something that works like Marvelous Designer except directly in Daz Studio would be the greatest thing ever. Ever.
Not that I want to defend any of that crypto stuff, but it appears that the shortage of GPUs and other electronic components may have other reasons as well:
