I'm going to venture a wild guess and say that Torment was the last male figure started by the old art direction team. Everything since has just been awful. Even the skins are bad. Sorry to say that, but IMVHO, everything after doesn't even compare. I'm sure a lot of you like the newer stuff, but I'm also sure a lot of you agree that the stuff pre-Torment isn't even in the same league. Sad...very sad.

The more we see of these new characters, the more it becomes clear why DAZ was trying so hard to sell them sight-unseen with the season pass.  So glad I listened to my gut and didn't plunk down any money in advance.

Gallery ain't working for me :-\

One more simple render. Maybe I'll post to gallery later...

Yes, the body is unremarkable and kind of bland that way. He does feel a little like a stylized figure with the head size.
I'm curious to see what the bundle looks like.

I really like this render, but it also tells me that the Jazz bundle is a no go for me even though I got an orange banner, as there is a fine line between stylized and weird. Jazz's face is great and I agree that he looks like Justin Trudeau at certain angles (which I love), but his head and body does not seem to belong to the same person. If I am looking for an average joe body I would pick up RY Spencer to be honest (and dial out that belly with some morphs). There are many men with "A-line shoulders" in where I live, but at least their head-shoulder proportion is a bit less extreme. (And if I want a nice coat outfit I would pick Winter Dweller with PC+ discount instead. The Feel Tha Funk outfit is nice though)

He looks stylized to me, which I'm not fond of. His head is just so big, and his skin doesn't look detailed from what I can see.

There is something about the PBR skins on the last three core figures that puts me off. It's like it doesn't look soft at all.

Also, I'm not a fan of this vintage trend.

Don't mind the vintage trend so much as there has been pretty much naff all of proper vintage content.. And most of what there has been, has mainly been steampunk flavoured and not much more.. Want to do a 60's or 70's flavoured graphic story or comic, not much luck there either.. Most of what we see is either Sci-Fi which I don't mind, but the bulk of content seems to be, between fantasy and contemporary..

But yeah the render in this thread, the head and body proportions do look a bit odd..

Characters with less character?! A soy toon? Now it's abundantly clear why there's a no refund policy. And the clothes!?! Whelp, you had a good run. Can't win 'em all.

Nah Mikey has it too. This 'surprised' expression together with the i-smelled-something-funny expression seem to run in the family (Vicky I am looking at you)

Yeah. And the clothes. I grew up in the 70s. The cut of the bundle clothes was ok, but the pattern and colors were wrong for men. We did more floral patterns. I'm not sure I can put my finger on it, but that was not a set of patterns I remember seeing on men. You need to research the time period, folks. The outfit they had for the 70s female bundle was right.

The other issue is, 70s bundles are kind of useless for me because none of my writers set romances in the 70s. Now, if you do English regency, I'd be all over that. Also, that guy looks minimal effort. I want a guy really badly, but that one is not romance cover material.

Look, I get that guys don't sell as well as endless Barbies, but if you give us a lousy product, those of us who do buy men aren't going to buy them either.

Even when I'm doing a short story to turn a buck, I make it the best damn short story I can. It's a matter of pride and making my customer feel good about me. You need to put in more effort, especially if you're going to charge out the azz for this stuff.

BUT it seems that Jazz is being given the Hollywood comedy minor character treatment judging from the promos, so some users might find him useful.

Whilst I'm all for options for the 'bnd' (bloke next door), eg. not an olympic swimmer, gladiator or some other fitness freak, it's almost like they forgot to finish the torso here - it looks like a toon. Even the HD morph seems to neglect this area. It is not a suitable counterpart to Jacqueline.

  • Jazz has a good face. It's a character-ful face. A couple dial spins, a different skin setup, you could get close to Justin Trudeau (who, I am told, is a total hottie).

The body is... uh... not the strong part of the Jazz sculpt.

The bundle is okay. A nice car. A female figure (always useful). I like the clothing, although I am not a fan of dforce everything. After the discounts, it was the right price for me.

Nah they are counterparts (see the resemblance: the 2008 movie Get Smart)

I thought Jazz was the DAZ version of Fez from That 70s Show, which also had a main girl named Jackie, but she looked nothing like Jacqueline. I like his bundle, but not him or the other character included.

As a car enthusiast, I was disappointed with the car... I do get it that they want to change the look to avoid any "copyright" issues, which the other stores apparently don't have, but the quality of mesh is only fit for toonish scenes.

Another pass - and I Want and Buy Male Characters

He leans too far into toon/stylized for my taste, which I am not interested in. Guy Next Door is fine, but too big head, caricature expressions, undefined body - not for me.

Bundle - I am not buying male bundles with female character included. For what it is, it is too expensive even at 61% off I see in my cart. I doubt I would use the car, I already have something similar I think I picked up in PC+. Outfits/expressions - not interested. Only thing that does interest me is the hair - which is in my cart till I decided if Fibremesh is too heavy for my computer.

Come on daz, this is weak. I won't buy male bundles with female characters inserted ever. The outfit..? Eh. SdeB made a better set of bell bottoms. The drape is weird on these. Not everything needs to dforce... it just looks strange to rely on that to fit clothing. And there is something odd about the fit. The character itself has base male body and painted on brows. The hd is lacking.

And a neftis hair and a car. So... pass. I'm not buying content just because it is male. I need quality stuff. This bundle screams low effort.

I was expecting Jazz to be another female character. It's nice that he's not, but lacking fibermesh eyebrows is a strike against him.

@Artini: Sorry, but this expression looks extremely stupid to me. Maybe it was deliberately made like like this, but I fear it was not...

I fully agree. I didn't even like Torment, which everyone here is so excited about. Since I haven't downloaded Genesis 8.1 yet, I can't really judge it, of course, but what I've seen so far has absolutely not convinced me. Jazz looks like a pretty nice character, but that weird body....

i stated everything was getting toon looking awhile back and was told i was off my rocker. this dude look toon to me. not full blown loony toony but on the edge of it. for sure not normal human advancing reality character, but floating in the other direction.

I like him. Here's a quick render of him in Cycles, added some muscles to buff him up a bit.

So ironic. I FINALLY get an orange banner after what seems like months for being “a fan of male characters” when in fact, I only get male characters when they are in bundles that are a ridiculously good deal including tons of freebies and there are cool themed clothes in the bundle that I can autofit to a female. I have no interest in this bundle, except for maybe the female character and car but I would have definitely purchased the Jacqueline bundle if I had gotten an orange banner for that. I guess they do that on purpose. Give you discount on something you don’t want to entice you but not give you a discount on something they know you’ll like, thinking you’ll get at at full price,,.

The best part of this bundle is the car. The hair is nice and viktohria's character is pretty but nothing that makes me want to rush and buy the bundle
