Two of the seven items are poses (sigh) so really would only be getting five items for me. There's already several television sets,  which can easily work for talk shows just bringing in different furniture, and I can do my own poses. Fred looks good though with extra fat on the body.

Well, it's a coherent theme, and everything in the bundle actually fits it. That's doing better than most of the latest attempts.

Great point. They did do something which makes sense. (And not sticking old items in new bundles.)

Three are poses in fact. So it's three poses, one hair, one outfit, and a set.

The promo looks like pure fat shaming to me...

The skinny guy - Jazz or what his name was - gets the cool undercover cop setting, with 70's vibe clothes and whatnots... and the fat white boy has only the option to makes jokes on the stage because he already "started as the class clown" at school... because the fat kid of course has to be funny to belong...

Yeah, I really love those promos full of cliche. I only wonder why DAZ left out another one about his presumed religion... devil

Idk. I have seen a lot of guys that look like him in comedy. It would be weirder for Daz to say he's a heartthrob. It IS a little stereotypical though.

At least his story isn't a weird, nonsensical mismash. And I personally think comedians are cooler than 70s cops. I hate the whole retro trend. Glad we are getting something different.

I can see Fred being a toned down (or more bland) version of JC (the late late show host). I like Fred, and I am waiting for user renders to show his witty charm. The promos, as usual, are not that appealing to me.

*sigh* Ima have to do this again?

Okay, this the Right Fred Thread, where we talk about all things Fred.

Here's the Fred image from the Product Library:

This lovable guy started as the class clown and became the funniest and most sought-after act in New York City! His humor is based on relatable, everyday struggles, so everyone can't help but laughing when they go to his shows. When he's not working nights, you'll find him writing new material at home or a local cafe or jogging in the trendiest athletic wear.

Fred follows the trend in 8.1 figures... materials for both Male and Female genitalia in one package. Also, Fred comes with a "No Brow" material setting, but he does not come with Fibermesh Eyebrows of his own. (Most of us probably have an extensive library of Fibermesh as it is, so that part isn't a problem.)

It's a problem for me. The fact I have other fibermesh brows doesn't mean I don't want another set for more variety. I've got lots of eye colors, too, but I still expect more to get more than one when I purchase a new Core character. Not buying him, poor ROI.

here is my version of Fred 8.1, as usual I'm taking a little different turn

Got to say I like him very much, his facial skin is excellent and yes the body hair is in the skin but it's still working good (nobody stops you from adding fm bodyhair to that). The body shape works for so many average guys and is well skulpted

    here you go

I like his Mockup Main Preview Image.

Great figure, though. I was hoping that Brooke will get a male counterpart.

Funny you mention that....  Take a look at the Brooke poses that released today.  Looks like he stole her late night talk show host gig.  (Or maybe she's about to take his job)

"The Daily Talk for Brooke 8.1 and Genesis 8.1"
"The Daily Talk for Brooke 8.1 and Genesis 8.1 includes fun and functional poses for Brooke 8.1 and her talk show set! You can easily use the included go-to poses with the Talk Show set or use them in other renders as well!"

That link in the description is for the "FG Talk Show Set and Dressing Room" that is in Fred's bundle...  I really get the feeling that Brooke was supposed to be the final character for the season pass based on how many products with her name have come out over the course of the SP.

I think the shape and skin looks great, an excellent model. However, body hair should never be baked into the textures, or at least provide an identical version without the body hair. That immediately put me off buying him.

*sips tea* I think this is a really interesting storyline... maybe a Fred VS Brooke Feud Bundle is dropping soon?

So, can the heavy guy get clothing that Fits? In some of these promos his sport coat looks about to pop a seam.

this is not good value, 3 pose sets, a single character a single hair. The clothing looks unnatural and the drape is weird for the type of cloth it is. Thick suit material doesn't pool and spill like silk. And dforce should not substitute for fit on outfits.

He reminds me a bit of Ted Cruz. I think it is the nose.

Even if you played with the dForce surface settings on the suit, it's really lacking. There are no real world details except the shoulder seams. It doesn't have any other body or sleeve seams, no vents, no sleeve buttons, no button holes, no pockets. The buttons it does have look like teddy bear eyes. I can't see if the pants have any details like a waistband or pockets, but I doubt it. It's a disappointed nope for me.

  • Ah yes, the money thing. Always an interesting topic with multiple tiers of citizens here. (*sips the upper class Daz tea and looks down at the daz proletariat*)

So, for SP holders, we get one discount as Fred owners.
We also own Fred HD, which also results in a discount (since the Add-on qualifiers say "Buy or Own").

With 2 Fred Add-Ons in the Cart (since we already own 1), our Bundle price is $29.90... (although, as said, we already own Fred, so it's really the AprilYSH hair, the 3 poses, the set for that price... that $29.90 doesn't include Fred, which we purchased already through the SP).

  • Well... after they took away all the non-DO bundles from the Fred bundle deal, they just put up a new banner for some of us...

    Thank You for Your Support!

Thank you for supporting our updated character system Genesis 8.1. (etc.)

Don't know what the minimum DO 8.1 character requirement is for this orange banner, but it's another 20% off the Fred bundle.

(So, for me as a SP holder, the bundle price goes down to $23.92... although the deal is also altered by removing the non-DO bundles from the free stuff part of the Fred deal.)

Fred is only my third 8.1 core figure, and second 8.1 bundle, and I got the banner. I'm happier with the deal I got when I checked out last night, honestly.

I actually really like Fred! He has a real personality. I rarely render males, but I could definitely see using him for something fun and also adding to the gene pool. Kind of like Ollie did.  He looks MUCH better than Brooke (which I did not purchase.)

The problem is, again, the deal. I finally actually got a coupon but the bundle is mostly stand-up poses and I don’t even see a microphone prop! Is there one I’m missing? And again $15 off each category doesn’t get you much. And I already own the pieces I want of every freebie bundle left except the warrior makeup bundle. And the choices of addons to bring to price down are awful.

Totally on the fence right now. I do like the character though.

Ok he's up, got him wishlisted. Not currently using the 8.1 versions, still waiting for my new computer to be finished. Not sure yet if I will get them, but I do like this character.

Great looking skin, judging from the promos. Another plus is that Fred's head and his body can be dialed in as separate morphs. This wasn't always the case with past heavyset characters (George and Underbelly, for example.)

Incidentally........ DAZ offers us a jovial, rolly-polly character named "Fred" and neither DAZ nor you guys think to render him barefoot in spotted animal skin duds shooting the breeze with a mastodon or a friendly pet dinosaur?!? Shame on you -- shame on you ALL!!! laugh

I thought the days of painted on body/face hair on core figures was over.

for those who have him already, what are your thoughts and opinions of his skin?

Someone in the Season Pass thread mentioned painted-on body hair, so I hope there's also a no-hair option for the torso.

Well, I guess the no hair option is called a shirt. LOL

What's funny, I literally JUST saw a REAL man whose clothes fit like Fred filling up his Hummer.

Yes. I guess we have to get our wins where we can.
  • Yes, Talk Show Fred.
The Official Contest rules are still for Jada 8.1, but the other page seems to say the picture must also show a "Talk Show".

I'll have to come up with something different.

    Shirt?
No... no shirt! LOL. (Back to Fred as the young Vladimir Harkonnen.)

    The character is really nice.

+1 for a non body hair version.
