Tonight on "Prime Time With Fred".... his guest reveals the the show has been renamed... "Prime Time With Brooke!"
Wow, it looks like Fred went a little TOO Hollywood in this main promo. Maybe Hugh Grant will interview him... https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-hollywood-outfit-for-81-males
Fred + Ollie makes an interesting mix.
He's cute for a chubby dude. Quick render of Fred on a stroll.
that shirt and Jeans look good on him, esp the shirt looks fitting great. But I wish there was an option to pull the trouser waistband and belt below the belly like it's often done by men with that shape
@Gordig managed with that Fred Ollie mix rather well
The clothes in his bundles? Please save us from malware menswear, @mal3Imagery!
Boy it's like they're desperate to have me buy Fred...I keep getting new pop-ups for 20% off. I'm good, thanks. Won't be buying Fred. I like the the inclusion of a wider variety of body types, but Daz hasn't gotten fat right. It just looks...weird. I also don't have any personal use for contemporary characters, so unless Fred comes out with a medieval bundle it's a hard pass for me.
It's from my Autumn outfit.
I know. I own your clothes. Sorry for being cryptic. I can't understand why Daz keeps putting ill-fitting, unflattering, badly draping, unrealistic clothes in the male bundles.
They tend to do the same with female bundles as well...or at the very minium, clothes that turn to spaghetti when posed.
I got an orange banner for 20% off Fred 8.1, and it would bring the new bundle down to roughly the same cost as the 4 items that look interesting:
- FG Nightclub
- Paul Hair
- Prefab Cabin
- maybe the Hollywood outfit
I'm on the fence. Buying the bundle means I may get more banners in the future, but I don't want to support the continued (in my opinion) lazy approach to male figures. At the bare minimum, he should come with fiber mesh eye brows. His skin texture has body hair baked on with no bare skin option. His shape and face can be achieved with dial spin morphs. I bought Jazz because at least that's some variety of skin color to add to my library, but Fred is just another white skin texture that will add nothing to what I have.
Easyest way to sell them... Many people probably think "Meh, they don't that good, but it's a bundle so it's cheap enough to just to go with it nonetheless..."
From my experience over the last couple years, the most interesting figures come with the worst bundle content and the least attractive deals... And figures that are just kinda clone-ish anyway get nice stuff to go with them and the mega-super-deals.
One of the reasons, why I own so few named figure bundles...
I really dislike the pants in these bundles. Tight jeans don't need dforce. And the pants in the Hollywood and the casual set yesterday hang like they are made out of thin rayon with extra loose fabric pooling at the bottom is really odd looking.
Since I own Fred 8.1 as a SP simp, the bundle price is effectively for the rest of the deal. The 2 locations, the hair, the one outfit, the poses, the expressions. After all the SP discounting & orange loyalty banner, this Fred bundle is $27.28 in the cart for me.
As for Fred himself... I don't know how much I'd use a fat guy shape? However, Big George was a good idea, so a Daz base along those lines is also good to have in the library. At the same time, as much as I like Big George, I hardly use him. I hardly use Bethany 7 for that matter, and I think her body shape is fabulous as well.
Overall, I want to see more of the PBR skin... so that was the good of the SP for me. I know some people hate the PBR shader, but I felt like Iray Uber skin performance was ALL OVER the place. It had extreme variance between PAs, to the point where I couldn't trust 2 figures in one scene unless the textures came out of the same PA's work. Hopefully, the PBR can normalize skin performance for me and my needs. (We really need a PBR category, IMO.)
That nightclub is amazingly clean. Not a single beer stain anywhere.
Yabba-dabba-DOOOOO IT!
He's cute for a chubby dude.
Nice render, though!
PBR may or may not help standardization under the lights, but my Iray Uber experience is exactly the opposite of what you say. PAs do not use the same settings, at least amongst the figures that I have. Apply a different PA's skin to the exact same character in the same lighting rig, and it's a crap shoot at best.
Different maps is something to be expected.
Different colors applied to the Diffuse Map (not 255/255/255) isn't uncommon even with base Daz figures, often with some variant along gray instead of pure white... like, you made the Diffuse map, so why use gray instead of 255/255/255?
Also, the color in the Translucency channel tends to vary wildly, along with the use of the Base Color Effect (Scatter versus Scatter & Transmit). The entire treatment of the Trans channel swings wildly from one PA to another, in my experience.
PBR... there is no Base Color Effect in the Trans channel, so that immediately simplifies things. At least amongst the Daz 8.1s, they tend to use 255/255/255... and a colored map in the Translucency Channel (with 255/255/255) rather than a gray map plus a colored channel (the preference for which tends to vary amongst PAs under Iray Uber).
You are right. I forgot about half the things I have seen in the shaders. For some time now, I have only been using DO skins and characters I have previously edited.
I do also wish for more "uniformity". You can take a picture of an Asian and Caucasian man and they will look perfectly normal. Put two different Caucasian DAZ characters in a scene and they will look like they are from different planets where physics don't act the same.
Alertness
I gotta be me.
Fred at 60%
I really like him! He has personality....
Well, speaking of uniformity issues... "Talk Show Host with the Most."
If the SP Fred Contest is about Talk Show Fred, are we all going to use the same Talk Show set?!
Actually, I'm hand-creating my own Talk Show set right now, which will probably be a gigantic waste of time given the murky nature of the contest qualifiers to date.
(The Contest rules still show Jada as well, not Fred.)
The Hollywood Outfit looks like Fred raided Jazz's closet.
There is a problem with the texture expansion. The texture for the shirt is supposed to be tan, and it is in the thumbnail but it loads neon orange.
I'm really liking him. You take off a few pounds and he really fits the Jewish/Italian/NYC/LA/Hollywood type that we haven't had so far!
Maybe a new pinup series? :)
Okay, back to pulp fiction Emperor Fred.
Even though it makes no sense, I'll make it make sense to fit in the stupid SP contest. The concept for the contest is just word salad, anyway, and I don't think it really makes a difference for the contest itself.
So, Fred as the Ming the Merciless of Late Nite Talk Shows? I'd rather do that.
(I may have to raid G8F's wardrobe for some proper lo-rise pants, though, since I can't find decent pants that sit under his belly.)
I like Fred and think he is a great addition to the diversity pool. But this suit....this suit makes me so angry. What even is this?! Cloth does not drape like this around a curvy body
.
What is the matter with people!
